Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

8. Kevin Durant & Jeff Green had the worst +/- for any duo on the floor together in the NBA with -421. Not a great stat for the fake-Sonics as Durant & Green are their leaders and are supposed to work well together. The top-5 duos in order were LBJ & Williams, Bryant & Pau Gasol, Hedo Turkoglu & Rashard Lewis, Rajon Rondo & Ray Allen, and Brandon Roy & LaMarcus Aldridge.

Greg Oden - The only other rookie with more than 500 points, 400 rebounds, and 65 blocks in under 1400 minutes played. Since 1946

That basically just shows that the Blazers were the 5th best team

Roy&Aldridge both stayed pretty healthy and got a lot of minutes together on the 5th best team, so they ended up with the 5th best +/- (apparently only one duo can be chosen from each team). This doesn’t really say anything about how well Roy and Aldridge themselves performed.

Right, same with Durant and Green

They’re obviously two future stars but the facts that

A) their teammates stunk
B) they played the most minutes on the team

gave them a long time on the floor together with a crappy supporting cast.

It’s the same reason you I would expect to see the +/- of Anderson Varejao and Sasha Pavlovic a lot higher than the +/- of Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler.

Roy + insert Blazers player name here

it would be hard to find a bad “combo” when Brandon is included

When reached 39 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
