Pst, I have insider info that investigative reporter Tim Chisholm was right when he revealed in his groundbreaking article on the state of the Trail Blazers "perhaps one of the issues leading to this circumstance with players is that players in Portland don't feel that the club has their best interests at heart. While a team must always remain dispassionate its their players to a certain degree, there are few organizations that (at least outwardly) treat their players with less humanity. These players are frequently reminded that they are assets first, people second."
Here is a top secret and up-to-date Blazers Portfolio Matrix charting the relative market value of all player assets of our favorite team, created with the help of a top-notch consultancy and latest trade machine suggestions from leading rumor sites as well as input from the best player agents. I got it forwarded from a front office source that needs to remain anonymous and is only known under the pseudonym "Deep Throw". For your eyes only.

I am pretty sure the Blazers organization isn’t as stupid as this man is portraying them. The fan base is behind the team, if any bit of the fans received any REAL news regarding mistreatment by the organization you can be sure everyone would be angry.
Anything that this man says about business and trading players. This happens in all arenas of sport. These players know what they are getting into when they join an NBA team. Don’t go giving people no pity party.
that's great.
But I like to be here. Oh, I like it a lot! Said the Cat in the Hat. To the fish in the pot.

Chisolm's analysis is pretty silly
Its amazing how much Pritchard hate there is out there. Is it all from Warkentien? If Chisolm was a knowledgable Pritchard hater, he’d criticize the Turk offer as stupid, rather than slam on KP for Turk ditching Portland at the last minute. We all know that Turk’s decision had little or nothing to do with KP.
I do wonder if there is a level of resentment amongst other GM’s that is preventing trades from being done. If that is the case, I hope their desperate self interest prevails over their resentment as we approach the trade deadline.
if pritchard worked for the raps and did everything he did for us
they would invent a new religion called pritchslapptilsm
Trade for Luis Amundson!!Do it KP!!

Hey Norsk...
One of the things I noticed in that funny little blog (I can’t legitimately call it an article, if that is what it was supposed to be, seemed far too opinionated and prospective for that) is that he mentioned that the Blazers won’t have money for the 2010 Free Agent class. I know that Miles’ contract coms off our books next year, do you know if that combined with our expiring contracts frees up enough money for us to do something, or was that evil, evil man right?
I am def not Norsk
But I believe the article is mostly right about that point. That is okay though. In my opinion, in a marketplace like that (2010 free agency), I say let the sharks eat each other while the Blazers sit back and watch everyone else over pay.
I get the paper, so I don't care!
Storyteller is the cap expert, but the article is right
http://www.blazersedge.com/2009/9/13/1029244/what-teams-look-to-have-cap-space
The extension of Roy kicks in, and either a cap hold or the extension of LaMarcus. And all salaries of our young guys go up a bit as they enter later years of their rookie scale deals. That pushes the Blazers very close to or over the cap in committed salary.
On the positive side, if we are over the cap we get the Mid-Level Exception (average salary of an NBA player, not defined yet but ca. $5.5 million) and the Bi-Annual Exception (sometimes called the $1 million exception since that’s where it started, now worth about $1.7 million) if changes need to be made in free agency. And while Blake and Travis will be unrestricted free agents and Joel could opt out of his contract to become unrestricted too, we have Larry Bird Rights/Exceptions for all of them (played three seasons with Blazers without being waived or changing teams as a free agent) enabling the team to go over the cap to re-sign them – if both sides want to.

Precisely right
We are unlikely to want to spend over the MLE anyway (the only hole on this team is backup PF), so it’s irrelevant.

Judging by KP's comments on media day, Paul Allen is urging a bit for financial prudence
He will still pay players the Blazers want to keep, but I e.g. doubt he would be happy to pay luxury tax at the moment.

Yeah, but
if we make WCF this year, and KP says signing this UFA will put us over the top, he’ll pay out MLE, and max money for Greg as well.

I don't understand how Chisholm ....
…. isn’t worried about his intregrity and reputation after penning a piece like that.
Perhaps it is due to the quality of journalism having deteriorated so far. It is hard to imagine he could be any more blatent in producing a hit piece than this. He spins everything one way. And I noticed not a single quote or source mentioned. Here is something you can bank on – when someone makes statements referring to what people are saying without either quoting them directly or identifying the source, they are little more than gossip spreaders and rumor mongers.
Chisholm has announced to the world with this piece that he is a mangy cur who, when not yipping at people from behind a fence, can be found in some corner licking his balls.

Miller seems like a cash cow to me
He’s not going to improve very much but he’s still worth quite a bit.
Nice Chart
At first I was upset with Chisolm’s article. Then I woke up this morning with a mood brightening thought. Could it just possibly be that the Blazers are starting to get some respect.
During the Jail Blazer days, they just laughed and made fun of the team. Now they are trying to tear the team and management down. Is this not the way with the upper echelon teams?
Perhaps I just doubled up on my happy pill this morning. Oh well, I’m enjoying the ride.
