sucks to be you guys

that is just a clever way to say ticket prices are going to be higher for marquee events and (cheaper),errr Regular Prices, on the not so hot nites. the scalpers will jack em up again what ever the starting price is. to be alittle fair, i think the blazers do an ok job giving tix to charities and creating the sellouts.

I was curious so I called the ticket office.

I was told that ticket sales are very strong this year, and there will not be very many single tickets available for most games.

Yeah this seems like more of a test

When they need to really push tickets again.

There will be single game tickets available to every game but not that many.

I pushed the rep pretty hard, but most just got the press release sound bites.

Mostly, I wanted to know if tickets for games with lowly opponents (Kings/Clippers/OKC) would be less than the regular single ticket rate. He said it was certainly possible, but tickets would never drop below the season ticket single game rate. I also asked what the ticket price for Blazers/Kings game would be on Sep 28th when single tickets go on sale assuming the Orange section ($39.00 single ticket/$29.00 Season Ticket). He said that single tickets have no starting price and will be sold at market rate. So it does sound like the Blazers ticket office has become a scalper. When I asked if there will be single tickets available for games against playoff teams, the rep told me they expect almost none to be available, and fans will probably have to get a ticket for a game against a lesser team if they want to see the Blazers live this year. Then he added, “And it’s only going to be worse next year and the year after that.” Not very encouraging.

It's economics.

This team needs to get into the black if we’re going to continue to root for marquee players like Brandon Roy. If not, we’re going to become basketball’s version of the Oakland A’s… moneyball. As effective as it is at making money, when is the last time the Athletics put up a championship contender? No thanks. Get into the black ASAP so we can continue seeing a team that is worth watching.

I’m just happy my dad got tickets for the 2/6 Lakers game through a AAA connection. Now, at the very minimum I will see one quality game this year.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
