9/21 My birthday junk drawer
So it's my birthday as it is now past 12 am central time. On this date 25 years ago I was born, the red and black already coursing through my veins (mostly the red stuff though). My father nicknamed me Drexler when I was a little boy. I had all the DQ cups, glass and plastic. I still have franz bread cards. I haven't been to Oregon this millennium, but the vision of the Rose Garden flame is still fresh in my mind. My mother is making me a Blazers themed quilt for my birthday.
I have a few passions, but those that burn brightest are for my Wife and Family, Education, the Law and my Country, and the Portland Trail Blazers. When I blow out my candles later today, I will no doubt think about wishing for world peace or some such, but in the end, when I close my eyes and exhale, I'll be wishing for a successful and injury free season for my beloved team.
Rip City Baby! Red Hot and Rollin' since 1984.

Happy Birthday
I second your wishes, and wish all the best and brightest to you in the next year.
I wish I could give you a 1984 time capsule, but its kind of fuzzy. I remember realizing that I did not belong in the Navy and that Clyde Drexler could do a little bit of everything real well, and that Kiki Vandeweghe could really shoot, and I remember that Sam Bowie had a really promising rookie year and I thought the combination of those three and kooky Mychal Thompson and some point guard somewhere (was it Fat Lever or Darnell Valentine that year?) could make us champs again. It was a fun year to listen to the games on the radio
Ramsey patrolling the sidelines, Schonely in his prime, and at least a fun team to consider the possibilities. I think I heard every game, all the way through the 5th quarter.
There were only, what, 20 games on TV that year? Half of their road games? And no national TV…. I’m not even sure the TBS contract for Tues and Fri night games had started yet.
I distinctly remember that about half the 1st round playofff games were not on tv
it was a travesty. I saw all the 2nd round games where we lost to LA, however. grrrrr
There must have been TBS that year, but I can’t remember any Blazer games

A few Blazer tidbits on that page, including the first teaming of Eddie Doucette and Steve Jones.
From Basketball Reference, the Blazers’ roster that year:
31 Sam Bowie C-F 7-1 235 March 17, 1961 R University of Kentucky
34 Kenny Carr F 6-7 220 August 15, 1955 7 North Carolina State University
20 Steve Colter G 6-3 165 July 24, 1962 R New Mexico State University
22 Clyde Drexler G-F 6-7 210 June 22, 1962 1 University of Houston
25 Jerome Kersey F 6-7 215 June 26, 1962 R Longwood University
24 Audie Norris C 6-9 230 December 18, 1960 2 Jackson State University
4 Jim Paxson G-F 6-6 200 July 9, 1957 5 University of Dayton
50 Tom Scheffler C 6-11 240 October 27, 1954 R Purdue University
33 Bernard Thompson F-G 6-6 210 August 30, 1962 R California State University, Fresno
43 Mychal Thompson C-F 6-10 226 January 30, 1955 5 University of Minnesota
14 Darnell Valentine G 6-1 183 February 3, 1959 3 University of Kansas
55 Kiki Vandeweghe F 6-8 220 August 1, 1958 4 University of California, Los Angeles
Scheffler and Thompson are older than me! And Kenny Carr was almost as old as me.
The band I was in wrote an instrumental called Steve Colter. I thought Bernard Thompson was going to be a star!
This was the team that I saw battle the Indiana Pacers who had Rik Smits at the time. Kiki was guarding him! I started The Wave in the Memorial Coliseum that night. – Not Elgin

No serious answer then? :)
I’m admittedly curious, there’s always a negative comment when UW comes up. What did the school do to cause your anger?
Not admit him :)
Or it’s just the school you didn’t go to. People hate the “other school” just because. Why should Duke and UNC hate each other? There is no real reason.
"I think he can still play" - Kevin Pritchard on Juwan Howard
Oh I know.
The whole “everyone from [opposing school x] is [insert insult here]” is tiring though. It’s good for a laugh, or on a rivarly matchup weekend. But for the most part, most students are aware the people at the other school are actually pretty much like them, unless it gets way to jingoistic at the school, like the aforementioned Duke/UNC situation.
just in my experience all the UW fans are douche bags. combine that with the udub players jumping on the O at autzen. it equals hostility for me

Fans are the same everywhere.
I’ve seen UO fans act terribly in anecdotal situations as well, same for OSU and WSU along with the aforementioned UW stupidness.
Fans are fans. They’re all nuts, I mean the term is short for “fanatic”. All the PNW schools have crazy fans. You just had the bad luck of seeing a bad batch of a certain school’s fans.
Truth is, pretty much all the students across the PNW schools are somewhat similar, so most perceptions are usually just influenced by a few anecdotal moments, which are then extrapolated way too widely to the overall population of a school. I’ve been just as guilty of doing it before.
Ok, off soapbox.

top 10 worst? even if you look back “historically” at OSU’s sports to see that they sucked for 28 years in football, you can still say that they had an elite basketball program (until ’90), and a very good football program (before ’71).
now the football program is at least a top 30 program and the basketball program is trending back up towards the upper half of the Pac-10.

Oregon is right at that cusp
Oregon State has a ways to go. I would put OSU alongside a team like BYU or TCU. teams that either have good 15-25 ranked seasons or suck.. it comes and goes in waves

Outside of the 2002-2007, BYU hasn't

by GreatOden'sRaven on Sep 21, 2009 1:56 PM PDT up reply actions
this crap is impossible to rank
if we’re talking last 10 years, OSU might sneak in at the #20-25 range (1 BCS Bowl win, consecutive top 25 rankings, one of the higher win totals in the country the last 5 years).
5-10, Oregon is in; any longer and they are out
5 years Boise State is at least a top 15 program; 10 or longer and they aren’t in the discussion
Notre Dame is in regardless due to their BCS Bowl trips when Quinn was their QB.
UDub is in if we all talking all time or 10 years; 5 years or shorter and they are out
"Early to bed, early to rise, makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise. That's why you all are wiser than me. It's cloudydays."
ND isnt in. unless we are talking more than 10
they are in BCS games because they are contractually obligated. they arent ever any good.
by GreatOden'sRaven on Sep 21, 2009 2:01 PM PDT up reply actions
but as a program
the media is always all over them, they get consistently high recruiting classes, and even though the product on the field might have stunk; those BCS Bids do count
"Early to bed, early to rise, makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise. That's why you all are wiser than me. It's cloudydays."
ok so are we counting
supposed results or real results? Sure they have a perennially IMPORTANT program, but not a GOOD one
by GreatOden'sRaven on Sep 21, 2009 2:05 PM PDT up reply actions
counting both
Michigan hasn’t been that good over the past 5 years either (with the exception of the year where Ohio State got blown out by Florida; but even then both teams were overrated)
"Early to bed, early to rise, makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise. That's why you all are wiser than me. It's cloudydays."
ok well then OSU certainly isnt a top 25
and Oregon is right around the cusp.. but probably top 30
by GreatOden'sRaven on Sep 21, 2009 2:12 PM PDT up reply actions
it's easy to say that
but name the teams who are better than UO/OSU?
we have named 15, but what 10 programs are superior to Oregon/Oregon State over the last 5-10 years?
"Early to bed, early to rise, makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise. That's why you all are wiser than me. It's cloudydays."
i can do it
but we never clarified 5-10
UO is probably top 20 in the last 10 years
OSU isnt in the top 35
OSU in the last 5 years has finished the season ranked in the 20s 3 times.. has won 10 games once. In 10 years it has won 10 games 2 times, and finished in the top 25 4 times.

I like to see Oregon schools do well, but bragging about your athletic prowess and crowing about how awesome your school is at sports is kinda like Arizona State bragging about its academics. Sure there might be one or two kids who graduate from there that can read, but that doesnt make it an academic school

if you were to rank the top pac-10 overall athletic programs right now (including sports other than just the revenue sports)...
the list would look something like this:
1) Stanford
2) UCLA

5) Arizona State
6) Washington
7) Oregon

9) Oregon State
10) Washington State

take a look at the number of Olympians produced by the top 6 on that list
Even with those national titles, Oregon finished 22nd in the director’s cup standings, with a whopping 6 pac-10 schools ahead of it.
what is the director's cup?
"Early to bed, early to rise, makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise. That's why you all are wiser than me. It's cloudydays."
its the NCAA's overall
athletic rankings.. including ALL sports.
Stanford always wins
by GreatOden'sRaven on Sep 21, 2009 12:13 PM PDT up reply actions
actually that's most of it
the US olympic teams in water polo, women’s soccer, women’s field hockey, women’s volleyball, swimming, etc. are full of Stanford students and alums.
and therein lies the gray area
in which it makes it nearly impossible for most programs to actually win the directors’ cup (let alone get into the top 10)
"Early to bed, early to rise, makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise. That's why you all are wiser than me. It's cloudydays."
correct
Its not a “fair” award by any means. The schools with enormous athletic budgets obviously have a giant advantage.
and really isn't that what the directors cup trying to measure
the total strength of the the athletic department, not just the ones that produce revenue.
Yeah, Stanford even has an upper tier ...
squash team. We’re talking about squash, folks—squash!

nowhere near the level of the squash teams at Princeton, or especially Trinity College, though.

Stanford athletes and grads took 25 medals in Beijing
that’s a little misleading since a number of those were as part of teams, but still.
that's fascinating
never would have guessed that Stanford is ‘the’ best overall athletic powerhouse in the nation
"Early to bed, early to rise, makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise. That's why you all are wiser than me. It's cloudydays."
its pretty fun to go to women's hoops, soccer and vball games
as well as track and swim meets here. You know you are probably watching future (or current) Olympians every time.
Schools that commonly show up in the top 5 in the directors cup standings are UCLA, Texas, Michigan, Florida, and North Carolina. Arizona State had an amazing year in ‘07-’08 and took 3rd.
I see Oregon State is 70th in '08-'09
is that about where they rank at every year?
"Early to bed, early to rise, makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise. That's why you all are wiser than me. It's cloudydays."
out of 271
VMI was the 271st best on this list
"Early to bed, early to rise, makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise. That's why you all are wiser than me. It's cloudydays."
didnt know they counted D2 and things like that
D1 only has 111 or 117 schools i believe
by GreatOden'sRaven on Sep 21, 2009 1:43 PM PDT up reply actions
i think it's because
some of these schools that are Division 1-AA in football compete for the NCAA Tourney in Division 1-A basketball and other spots
"Early to bed, early to rise, makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise. That's why you all are wiser than me. It's cloudydays."
That's just because they give medals for things like
Student government, chess team, those sort of things.
It isn’t fair and devalues the medals.
honestly if i were to guess
i would have assumed the top 3 were:
USC
Michigan
Florida
Stanford really wouldn’t be in my top 10 either; I know that they have a great women’s hoops program, but that’s about all i know about…
"Early to bed, early to rise, makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise. That's why you all are wiser than me. It's cloudydays."
texas is another school i would have considered
"Early to bed, early to rise, makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise. That's why you all are wiser than me. It's cloudydays."
I think they gave it to Texas that year
if I recall correctly, they gave Texas the edge because of their superior teams in the revenue sports.
correct
While each school can make a case for being named No. 1, this year SI chooses Texas over Stanford in a photo finish. That’s mainly because the Longhorns performed slightly better than the Cardinal in the big-ticket sports like football and because their fans approach sports with just a touch more fervor
fwiw
UCLA has the most all-time NCAA team championships, with Stanford and USC tied for 2nd. The pac-10 continuously destroys all other conferences in the directors cup standings.
woot go Pac-10
"Early to bed, early to rise, makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise. That's why you all are wiser than me. It's cloudydays."
interesting
the gray area here is that there are some sports that some schools have and are exceptional at (see: Oregon track and field/XC) that others don’t have at all.
"Early to bed, early to rise, makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise. That's why you all are wiser than me. It's cloudydays."
what about just the "big 3" sports?
football, basketball, and baseball (with more weight on the football and basketball part)
"Early to bed, early to rise, makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise. That's why you all are wiser than me. It's cloudydays."
just men's hoops or including women's also?
because a lot of schools make more $ of women’s hoops than baseball. In the NCAA, there is a big 2 (football and men’s hoops), not a big 3.
go with both
"Early to bed, early to rise, makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise. That's why you all are wiser than me. It's cloudydays."

ASU and Cal probably had the best years— making the NCAA tournament in 3 of the 4 sports.
USC football, Stanford women’s hoops, UCLA basketball are probably the top 3 pac-10 programs in any of those sports.

and arguably SC football, Stanford women’s hoops, and UCLA men’s hoops are the cream of the crop nationally as well. – Elgin
Without you out there, we're nowhere here
SC football is probobly the #2 program in the country right now, after Florida
Stanford women’s hoops is probably around #3-#5 program right now, behind UConn, Tennessee and possibly a couple others. UCLA men’s hoops is a top 5 program for sure, maybe higher. Historically, its still obviously #1.

Through a friend, I know Mickey Rourke a teensie bit
He has complained to us several times over the years how much he wants to get off steroids, but feels like his body is the last thing he hadn’t screwed up… of course, looking all roided out is screwing it up. He’s a nice guy, but kinda messed in the head… if one couldn’t guess.
Not that we’re friends, but if he saw me he’d say “Hey Mortimer what’s up” and then move on.
My friend was a trainer/manager at the Golds Gym in Venice, so lots of stars went to him with complaints about steroids and other drug stuff… not realizing he’s super duper ultra clean.
Point is, a lot of that movie can even be seen as about Rourke himself; trying to recapture past glory, drug abuse, steroid abuse, etc. It is a depressing movie.
The most depressing sport isn’t wrestling though, it’s body building. Good lord those guys bum me out. Least healthiest people in the world.

I’m no expert, but he seems to have gotten cheek implants before they were any good. Now they are made of silicone and a pretty solid porous material that attaches well to the bone and doesn’t cause much irritation. He probably just got silicone injected, or material has leaked causing a need for more operations. Add some botox and other filler material injections, and the face starts looking pretty ridiculous.
"I think he can still play" - Kevin Pritchard on Juwan Howard
Yeah, whatever he did, it NEVER looked good.
I actually think he looks better in person, then when he gets makeupped and hair dyed and facial haired up for
TV and stuff.
And through the same friend
I got to know a lot of body builders, the dudes on the covers of those stupid magazines, and what they go through for all of that is literally INSANE. It is beyond pointless.
Thousands a month in money they don’t really make in HGH and steroids, no drinking water for a few days before a show to get your skin paper thin, lots of little things that are just disgusting to get ready for a show.
They are eternally broke, feeling not good enough but compensating with extreme cockiness, and working out.
There was a “documentary” on MTV True Life (?) about people striving for their idea of the perfect body. One guy wanted to be a wrestler and constantly needed to watch his weight to not fall out of his class, a female Harvard student wanted to get into the aerobic bodybuilding scene, another one wanted to be a beauty pageant queen, a guy who wanted to get into body building workout videos, another one who wanted to become a strong man, and one who wondered if his thighs were too small and keeping him from being successful so he wanted implants there which was about the dumbest thing I have seen in a long time
"I think he can still play" - Kevin Pritchard on Juwan Howard
Ya know I've actually seen that episode
My wife watches True Life sometimes, and that episode you just described is the only one I remember and I think
I’ve seen it twice even.
The calves guy stuck in my head as well.
That was probably what I meant. Yeah, he couldn’t walk for a while and was so happy when his lower legs got a bit bigger. I was wondering why a surgeon with any common sense and ethics doesn’t send someone like that away when he really has no problem. I think it also inspired an episode of Entourage where Drama checks out the legs of other men, including Lamar Odom.

This is one of my favorite Onion articles:
No matter how often I read the onion, I always miss good stuff.
I’m not sure which part I liked more:
On numerous occasions, you have expressed the conviction that your area’s sports team will be victorious. I must admit that every time I hear you make this proclamation, I react with both laughter and disbelief. “Ha!” I say to myself with laughter. “What?!” I say to myself in disbelief. How could you believe that your sports team could beat my sports team? It is clear that yours is inferior in every way.
Or…
If you need another reason why the sporting franchise representing my area is superior, look no further than the supporters for the two sides. Not only are the supporters of the team from my region more spirited, but they are also more intelligent and of finer breeding than you and the rest of your ilk. In addition, the female supporters of the team from my area possess more attractive countenances and figures than yours. Some of the women from my side that I have observed could make a living by posing for pictures for major men’s magazines.
Either way, that’s high comedy. Thanks for the link.

I wouldn't be half of the man I am today without my mom.
But it’s hard to sit next to her when she is wearing her Pau shirt and jumping up and cheering for him while she is still rooting for the Blazers to beat the L.kers. And I was the only member of my family standing in opposition to LAs title run last year. I even made a FB account just for the purposes of talking trash to them. Lot of good that did me.
And Yes. Although I am serious about how much I appreciate my mom’s influence on my life, I was also making a joke about genetics in the header of this comment.

Older, but this might be the funniest Canzano story/interview I've ever read
Feat. Patterson vs. Z-Bo, Ha vs. Sinanovic, and of course Sheed vs. Canzano:
At that point, his teammates are all looking to see how I react, and in no way am I going to back down. I’m looking at Rasheed, and thinking if he takes a swing I’m going to try and stuff him into the locker behind him if only because journalists everywhere need me to man up in that situation. Either that, or I’m going to get knocked out and blow my deadline.
Via Kelly Dwyer’s Top 10 NBA Meltdowns of the Decade

It basically said,
“I saved the world from disaster.
In order to do that, I created bad situations by relentlessly pushing buttons, then I act innocent when the interviewee freaks out. See how smart I am?
Can it be?
Do I do that?
Yes.

regarding all the talk about the refs and whatnot,
another thing that annoys me about NBA officals: rejecting accountability.
After the league publicly acknowledged the error, nearly all the officials responded the next night by wearing their jerseys inside-out with Henderson’s No. 62 on the back.
From an ESPN article. Officials protesting because the league acknowledges one of them made a mistake is ridiculous. Refs being willing to accept blame for blown calls in public would go a long way towards improving the quality of officiating, in my opinion.

I like how people are talking themselves into agreeing with your post.
uh. okaaaaay…
actually, I kind of hear what your saying, but comparing Roy’s leadership to that of Z-Bo immediately kills any point that you were trying to make. Roy may be selfish on the court, but that selfishness on the court usually results with a win. Z-Bo’s had the opposite effect. As for off the court, he has donated plenty of money to charities, scholarships, public parks, etc. And he is engaged to be married as far as I know.
I get the paper, so I don't care!
Roy will do whatever it takes for the Blazers to win..
and if that makes him selfish a lil…. than so be it. He’s the Leader.. (think aldridge will step up more this season also)

Jumbotron Blazer Questions
I have a friend who works at the Rose Garden and he tells me that they are preparing for Media Day. They are gathering questions campus wide to ask the players. I’m assuming these are the ones that get asked on the jumbotron during games and show up in the programs. Stuff like ‘what’s your favorite food?’ and ‘what would you be doing if you weren’t in the NBA?’
So what would you ask?
Tominhawaii once wrote a good question:

Don’t know if they already had that, but the question would also work with “in which other sport could you have been a pro” or “what job would you have if you didn’t play basketball”.

Nelly Furtado has decided that she doesn't want to be too commercial
Her new album is entirely in Spanish, and much slower than “Loose”. Her record company wanted to make a similar record immediately, but she went on a one year break raising her daughter, doing pottery, cooking, marrying. The new one sounds much more like the first (I’m like a bird) and second one, middle-fast and melodic.
There is a song called “Feliz cumpleaños” like our Spanish friends said above, about her 30s birthday. That’s mainly why I mention it now in this birthday post. There is also a song named Suficiente Tiempo where she brings her daughter (6) to pre-school. That reminds me of Sophia.

what did you think of his latest album?
"Early to bed, early to rise, makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise. That's why you all are wiser than me. It's cloudydays."
I didnt think 808's was good
but Gold Digger is about as low as Kanye could get. That song is soulja boy level. College Dropout, Late Registration (minus Gold Digger), and Graduation were all great albums.

Graduation was good but not as good as the first two

I dont think Kanye fits the pop description
Pop music is a music genre that developed from the mid-1950s as a softer alternative to rock ‘n’ roll and later to rock music. It has a focus on commercial recording, often orientated towards a youth market, usually through the medium of relatively short and simple love songs.

his first album is great
the quality of his music has become worse and worse as time has gone on. stick with The College Dropout and Late Registration (the album Gold Digger is on)
"Early to bed, early to rise, makes a woman healthy, wealthy, and wise. That's why you all are wiser than me. It's cloudydays."
I don't mind the "music" on '808 and Heartbreaks'
I think Kanye always lays down a nice beat. It’s his shift to “singing” and how inane his lyrics are becoming that make me not that the album.

Facts about this song:
1. The lyrics don’t mean anything.
2. He sounds horribly over-produced and just horrible when he does it live.
3. It has a sick, sick beat. I’d cover my waffles in it because I like that beat so much.

Lol, now the US wants to institute a $10 fee to enter your nice country
And that is after you pay quite a lot for visa processing if you don’t enter for a short trip as a tourist or on a business trip (student visa, work visa, etc). And deal with some funny people who think Homeland Security is dependent on them.
$10 is not a whole lot and reportedly the money is to be used for tourism (ad) campaigns, but it’s also a pretty obvious way to improve the budget deficit and stimulate the economy, no? Reminds me of traveling across borders in Africa. And of course several countries immediately said they would institute the same fees for US citizens when traveling to them. Which is probably a disproportionate amount, but well it’s the bad intention that counts…

That would be a fair deal, I think SEVIS visa processing was about $100 the last time I had to do it (not counting your own time of course)
But I fear you couldn’t give me papers to sign into a university, social security, etc. Right? Illegal immigrant wasn’t exactly my plan for the future. Then it’s easier to be a legal immigrant in Canada. Or somewhere sunny in Europe.

Invaluable is not good? I’m not familiar with US reference/performance evaluation speak. It’s a problem for European applicants to US universities and companies, reference letters in many European states are usually in a very neutral and factual tone and not passionate or terribly detailed, instead using some secret wordings and subtle discriminations. Good HR/admin people know that, some don’t.

Hardy har har, Cabby.
Truth be told, I should probably be more gracious toward Kevin Pritchard. Yet, there’s still room for some blunt, plain-spoken criticism.
Although Pritchard isn’t the most deft at fine-tuning the roster, he’s done a splendid job by building the core foundation around two tip-top franchise cornerstones, Brandon Roy and Greg Oden, who could someday lead this team to a title. Pritchard’s done a respectable job at targeting foreigners, too, with Nicolas Batum and Rudy Fernandez being success stories.
Stupid people have stupid ideas.

The Kings have the best bench I’ve seen. There are easily 14 guys on this team good enough for every bench in the league. Now if we could only get some starters, I’d totally jizz in my pants.

I can’t think of any other big PG, aside from Magic.
Penny Hardaway I guess. But KJ, Tim Hardaway, John Stockton, Strickland, Kenny Anderson, everyone was ‘normal’ PG height for the most part.
I am likely forgetting a lot of good players though.
Penny Hardaway was huge.
DJ and Kidd are two 6’4 PGs. Maybe ‘every PG in the 90’s’ was 6’5 is a stretch.

"...the primary focus of all obstacles is to induce labor, so progression can be born." - LiL C
I liked it a lot as a little kid
I was always staying up late ever since I was 7 or 8, watching Carson and Letterman… especially Letterman.
Arsenio seemed real good as a kid but when I got into HS, it seemed really bad. I dunno if I just got older or he started slipping as the show started failing.
It lost it's charm.
But I loved him so much in Coming to America that I’d forgive anything else he did ever.

Magic Hour
Completely painful to watch. He couldn’t even speak or hold a conversation.
Chevy’s show was painfully unfunny, and maybe he gets more points against him since he is SUPPOSED to be able to do that stuff whereas no one should reasonably expect Magic to have a good talk show…
But Magic’s show, all things equal, was much worse.
Dennis Miller's show was awful too
Remember Pat Sajak went against Carson and Letterman with a midnight show?
Good lord that was awful.
And Rick Dees of top 40 DJ fame had one on ABC. Soooo bad.
I remember the first show, when he introduced his band leader Sheila E
She just kept saying, “I got a job, thank you, I got a job!” And I remember thinking to myself, “No, No, No, No, No. This show is doomed.”

The Magic Hour was so horrible.
Did that last a week? I’d visit his 24 hour Fitnesses, his Starbucks, and his Burger Kings, but I couldn’t possible watch his show.
"...the primary focus of all obstacles is to induce labor, so progression can be born." - LiL C
He just.... can't "speak"
Holding a conversation, listening to what the guest says, segueing into new topics and into commercials, just holding a dumb conversation. He can’t even do that when it is totally scripted.
He can hardly talk about the NBA and sound good, a talk show was totally beyond him. I just made me feel bad for him. AIDs is one thing, making him show everyone how bad he is at having a talk show is worse.
Only time I like to hear Magic talk is when he is describing his showtime teammates. That’s fun. But he is not a basketball analyst who should be talking, let alone a talk show host who should be talking.
Just smile. Say “Big Game James” or “Captain” real excitedly. And shaddup.
"...the primary focus of all obstacles is to induce labor, so progression can be born." - LiL C
Are his "rent-a-center" ads nationwide?
People can get an “assist” from rent-a-center so you can have the things you want!
It works like “Magic”.
I hate his commercials, they’re all the same… puns for assist and Magic. GEEZ.

I don't know if I have seen those.
I’d never want to see Magic cracking scripted jokes, and I’d never want to see Magic talking on camera without a script. Ergo, Magic.. shaddup.

I’m trying to be semi-realistic, since I really do plan on having an island someday. Big goal of mine.
With satellite everything so I got internet and NBA League pass.
What if a storm comes along and you get stuck on your island with no LP during game 7 of NBA Finals???
Love.
I'm more worried about pirates than a storm where Belize is situated.
Though piracy isn’t a big problem there… but they are poor, so who knows.
I will just be on the mainland for the Finals to erase any chance of something like that happening.
You could just hire a bunch of Russians to guard your island. You do need company if you're not planning on going insane.

I have a better idea:
All of BEdge will simultaneously rob one major bank next to each person’s home. We’ll then pool the money and use that to buy us an island in the middle of the ocean.

Wouldn't that destroy the idea of having an island, if I had to live on it with hundreds of people?
Then I could just buy my tiny share on some artificial island in Dubai or Miami

Our run was good while it lasted. They will have the biggest increase in wins ever now, without drafting a #1 pick, and may God have mercy on our souls.
When Durant scores 35 a night on 90/50/40 shooting, it's game over. Greg can never catch up to that.
It will be all over PTI, ATH, ESPN, Y! Didn’t you hear Durant scored 33 last night, and 47 against the Clippers! Portland screwed so up! That Oden guy is a bust, and since Roy got lighter he isn’t what he used to be.
