Delonte West is a fan of Desperado
"Delonte West, a guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers, was driving a three-wheeled motorcycle north on Interstate 95 near Route 214 in the Largo area when he cut off a Prince George's County police officer, authorities said. The officer pulled him over, and West told the officer that he was carrying a handgun in his waistband.
That prompted the officer to call for backup, and investigators found that West was actually carrying three guns: a Beretta 9mm in his waistband, a Ruger .357 strapped to his leg and a shotgun in a guitar case slung over his back, said Maj. Andy Ellis, a spokesman for the Prince George's County Police Department. "

wtf?
what possible reason could he have for doing this? i’m amazed by the actions of some of these pro athletes who have the opportunity to play sports for a living and do stupid things like this.
i love delonte west.
not much else to say. pretty much the strangest story i’ve ever read about an NBA player.

I like West a lot.
I always thought he would have been a perfect fit next to Roy. I guess the weapons charge probably kills any chance of that happening.

Y'know, Delonte West really would be a great fit next to Brandon Roy.
West, who isn’t a pure point guard and was hindered regarding his development with Boston and Seattle because of it, brings defense and three-point shooting to the table.
I still contend that Kirk Hinrich would’ve been the best fit alongside Roy, although West comes in a strong second concerning playing style.
Nevertheless, West has found a nice home in Cleveland and this incident probably hurts him in the pious eyes of Kevin Pritchard. It, therefore, is an altogether moot point.
Stupid people have stupid ideas.
Lol (shakes head)

hahahah that's absolutely hilarious
shotgun in a guitar case…
You can measure skill and talent with your eyes, but productivity is shown through statistics.
I have a shotgun case that looks just like a guitar case but I never take it on my 3 wheel motorcycle

It PG County and it really is the wild west
If I was to carry a gun anywhere, it would be there, especially along the border between that county and DC. The crime stats are out of this world

Well you can minus the guitar case and the tricycle

Very interesting
Points in his favor:
1. Sounds like he may have had legitimate concerns.
2. It is a dangerous area.
3. (the big one) He told the cop right away, and fully cooperated.
To me, this sounds like a stupid thing to do, but he didn’t use the guns, and there is no evidence that he was looking to do so. They were for self-defense, apparently, and athletes can be targeted — Bryan Pata, Sean Taylor, Darrent Williams, Richard Collier.
I’m not going to blast the guy for this. A dumb move, but everyone makes dumb moves. I don’t blame him for wanting to be able to protect himself.

I understand one of those weapons, but three? Is he going to war? Where was he going anyway?

I understand two
The shotgun and the handgun will be handy for different situations, I suppose.
But if I’m in Cleveland’s front office, I’m asking him those same questions you asked.

He was sidelined with
a mood disorder at the beginning of last season. Not that one thing pertains to the other….
I think this sounds bad ass
Always liked Delonte, and I hope this makes him become a Blazer.

Wow. That's a lot of firepower to be carrying around.
A shotgun in a guitar case?! That’s awesome! That’s some El Mariachi $%^t! In all seriousness though, why didn’t he have any grenades on him. A man can always use some grenades when going into battle.

The amazing part
Is that he was driving a 3 wheeled motorcycle. If he was in a car, i’d just think he was another thug packing heat. But the thought of a 6’3" guy riding a three wheeled motorcycle armed to the teeth (where do you even keep a guitar case on a 3 wheeled motorcycle??) is just way too funny to take seriously.
I suppose it rather looks something like this, and might be a way to circumvent a restriction on driving motorcycles as an NBA player (see Monta's moped incident). Or maybe that is a breach of contract, too.

In any role. Doesn’t he live in Oregon? Maybe Delonte could live here.
so y'all think he is cool for doing this?
the tenor of the comments is that this is no big deal, a bit funny and even a little bit cool. Really? This has stupid, jailblazer and thug written all over it. absolutely no reason for this no matter what he says and i would never want him on our trailblazer team.

Been through it so many times
there’s no surprise. The only real surprise is how light the penalties are. I’m sure Cleveland is bothered even less.
Armed to the teeth eh?

The Kings have the best bench I’ve seen. There are easily 14 guys on this team good enough for every bench in the league. Now if we could only get some starters, I’d totally jizz in my pants.

The morale of the story
is that you don’t carry the gun, but you let your posse do. What’s the point of having a posse and hanger-ons if they won’t carry a shotgun in a guitar case for you?
