Nice story Mr. Smith.
I hope this Juwan Howard signing is everything that the Blazers are making it out to be. – Elgin

Before y'all start piling-on about all the short sentences in the article,
keep in mind that Smith is writing for a modern audience that prefers information in short bytes, not long, complex sentences and paragraphs.

It really comes down to attention span.
The kids these days don’t ha
The cowards never started
The weak died along the way
Only the strong survived
They were the Trailblazers

Dave and Ben write for archaic dinosaurs, I guess
It’s not just short sentences, it’s sentence fragments as well. The following was great:
What Duckworth was to Howard, Howard can now be for the Blazers.
A guide.
A leader.
A father figure.
But it loses some of its impact because too much of the article was written in similar style. If you aren’t choppy in your writing, then when you use the choppy approach, it has greater impact.
OK, I’m done, I wasn’t going to say anything about his style again, but since he’s putting his style out there for everyone to see, I suppose it’s as much fair game as discussing Brandon’s shooting form or LMA’s rebounding, for good and ill.
And although it isn’t the style I prefer, this was a nice article. He picked up a really good story, and presented it in a way that conveyed it well.

Weird
The blockquote messed up, all of the followingwas supposed to be in the quote:
What Duckworth was to Howard, Howard can now be for the Blazers.
A guide.
A leader.
A father figure.

Who is really in charge around here?
Was this one of those posts that The Terminator (your computer) made for you? I had a sneaky suspicion when I first saw the post. "Is that jscot, or is that his computer taking over again?"

LOL
That’s not the first time a blockquote has only done the first paragraph for me and left the rest out. I tried it again on the second try, and previewed it, and the preview was doing the same thing as the first time, leaving the three lines out of the blockquote.
That’s the most important reason not to use 2-3 word paragraphs. It fouls up my block quotes.

You have to block-quote each paragraph separately.
A carriage return automatically ends a block quote.

That's dumb
It makes it look like they are separate quotes, then. In this case, particularly, it would looks stupid.
I’m now annoyed with the software on two counts — this, and the strike-through (yes, I’m doing that on purpose.

LOL
That’s two paragraphs in a single block quote. Your theory is wrong – and the stupid strike-through didn’t do it when in a blockquote, or something.

Yes, just as I thought, we have been reduced to pawns in the clutches of our computers.

Good point

Thats a great piece
I hope when Cunningham or Pendergraph are wise old veterans they will reveal a story about how Howard did the same thing that Duck did for him. 2 later generations of forwards affected by the kindness of one gentle Duck. Course that’s a hope at this point.

I remember many stories of how the Duck was belittled because he was big.
The man’s heart was even bigger. My hope is our current team emulates this heart,if they do I will support them win or lose for the rest of my life.Duckworth=CLASS.
Go Blazers.

Like I said last week
There’s a new sheriff in town on the Blazer’s beat, Quick and Freeman had better step their game up
