Junk Drawer 9/16 - Blazers Workout Songs
I was wondering what songs the Blazers players listen to while warming up or working out. Here is a list what I could imagine is in their playlist (some explicit lyrics of course):
Andre Miller: Nelly - I am No. 1
Steve Blake: Eminem ft. Nate Dogg - 'Till I Collapse
Jerryd Bayless: DJ Khaled ft. Akon, T.I., Rick Ross, Fat Joe, Birdman and Lil Wayne - We takin' over. Or maybe in his quiet moments T-Rex - Children of the Revolution
Brandon Roy: Nelly - Heart of a Champion
Rudy Fernandez: Jerry Goldsmith - Rudy: The final game (theme song)
Nicolas Batum: The Cool Kids - '88
Martell Webster: Eminem - Without Me ("Guess who's back")
Travis Outlaw: The O'Jays - For the Love of Money. And Franz Schubert - The Trout Quintet to chill out.
Jeff Pendergraph: Johnny Cash - Hurt
Dante Cunningham: Is waiting for the release of Dante's Inferno around All-Star Game 2010 (not yet rated, but probably M): Teaser Trailer, Gameplay Trailer. Until then he listens to some teen pop. Liberty X - Just a little and Britney Spears - Gimme More. Playing time of course.
LaMarcus Aldridge: Lil Wayne ft. Robin Thicke - Shooter. Once he gets his extension skips to Lil Wayne ft. T-Pain - Got Money
Greg Oden: Portishead - Sour Times ("Cause nobody loves me. It's true. Not like you do"). Love that song.
Joel Przybilla: Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood. He could be any number of characters from that video.

That collection looks like the bane of my existence
I hated 80’s butt rock when I was a kid and I don’t get ironic value out of it now.
Except for old Motley Crue, of course.
I had a stage back in college
Where I would get drunk and order stuff from commercials late at night. I got that, country love songs, a how to play the
gitar VHS and some other junk.
there are some classics there
I used to listen to Skid Row non-stop a few years ago… still got a soft spot for “I remember you” and “Wasted time”
oh goodness..I just watched that thing this saturday
their hair is ridiculously hot. someone in the NBA should bring that stuff back
Ha for big man coach!
I only work out to Europe - The Final Countdown.
But when I ride my bike I listen to Kenny Loggins – Highway to the Dangerzone
I would dance to that soundtrack in my living room as a kid.

WHY CAN'T THAT BE RUDY'S NICKNAME
“Spanish Harlem”… that’s a sweet nickname.
It’s because he is Spanish, so the Spanish part makes sense, and he dunks, which is what black people do, so the Harlem part makes sense (black people are kept there).

We haven’t had one in a while and I got all this pent up bust-centric rage to release.

None of us should take Travis for granted...
Trav, understand why…
See… it’s burning me to hold onto this
I know this is something.. I gotta do…
but that don’t mean I want to
What I’m trying to say…. is that…. I-love-you
I just…. I feel like this is coming to an end
And it’s better for me to let it go now
than hold on and hurt you.. I gotta let it burn
It’s gonna burn for me to say this
But I’ve analyzed some stats
Sure, your effectiveness is going up
But your PER done been standin’ pat
Really hoped we’d work this out
But I don’t think ya gonna change, ya
I do but you don’t
Think it’s best we go our separate ways
T-te-ell me why… I should keep you on this roster..
When you ain’t boardin’, Travis… I ain’t happy, Travis…
Plus theres so many other forwards I gotta deal with
I think that you should let it burn
When your shooting ain’t the same and your body don’t want to
But we know, you still gonna let it go
but in the playoffs.. wasn’t droppin’ like it used to
Even though this might bruise you
Let it burn
Let it burn
Gotta let it burn
Deep down you know it’s best for yourself but you
Hate the thought of Roy winning with someone else
But you know that it’s over
You know that it was through
Let it burn
Let it burn
Gotta let it burn
Even takin shots u ain’t supposed to
and Marty & Nic here… but I want you
Even tho’ your defensive prowess is a shame,
Still find myself callin’ out yo name
Travis, tell me do you understand?
Now all my BEdgers, do you feel my pain?
It’s the way I feel
I know I made a mistake
Now it’s too late
And when you ain’t coming back
What we all be thinking then is how
To get my Troutlaw back
Oh oh oh oh
And Roy don’t know what he gonna do
Without his foo
When gone for soo long..
It’s been fifty-eleven days, um-teen hours
I’mma be burnin’ till you return
When your shooting ain’t the same and your body don’t want to
But we know, you still gonna let it go
but in the playoffs.. wasn’t droppin’ like it used to
Even though this might bruise you
Let it burn
Let it burn
Gotta let it burn
Deep down you know it’s best for yourself but you
Hate the thought of Roy winning with someone else
But you know that it’s over
You know that it was through
Let it burn
Let it burn
Gotta let it burn
I’m twisted cause one side of me is tellin’ me that I need to move on
On the other side I wanna break down and cry (oh)
I’m twisted cause one side of me is tellin’ me that I need to move on
On the other side I wanna break down and cry (yeah)
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh oh
Ooh ooh oh
can ya feel me burnin’?
Ooh ooh ooh oh ooh oh
So many days, so many hours
I’m still burnin’ till you return
Even though this might bruise

Does anyone here hire prostitues?
I pass a bunch each night on my way to work around 11:00 PM and then again around 5:00 AMish when I have to move my car out to the street. When I see them in the morning, I can’t help but think it’s like going to a buffet just before it closes. Do folks take freshness into account when they hire ladies of the night?
Don’t they have little stickers on them like the plates in a sushi train restaurant?
I get the paper, so I don't care!
I don't know
I’ve never been within 50 feet of them. The smart alec in me wants to go up and talk to them and ask questions and then the not get beat up by a pimp in me keeps me far away. The last couple of days there has been a lady out there who is about 5’ 2" and 200 lbs. I’ve also seen a transsexual/cross-dresser once at the crosswalk. I wanted to ask those two about pricing.
You gotta pay them to talk to them

I don't find this surprising
There are still pockets of people that don’t think he is a US citizen. There was an anti-Obama rally/march in Anchorage last weekend where this was said:
“(Obama) is a fake, he is an illegal alien, he is a fraud. Barack Obama, where is the birth certificate!” event speaker Bob Bird, last year’s Alaskan Independence Party candidate for U.S. Senate, said to scattered cheers from those gathered.
(for those who aren’t familiar with Alaskan politics, the Alaskan Independence Party is a third-party whose platform is based around Alaska being an independent country. Bird received more than 4% of the vote in last years general election for US senate.)
I don’t understand why some people seem to think that Obama isn’t a natural born US citizen and are continuing to ask him about this when they fail to ask the same question to other presidential candidates.
and the obama cabinet has released his birth certificate multiple times.
birthers are stupid racists, zealots and/or religious extremists. too bad there is one person who ran for president last year, that most of the birthers voted for who lost. his name is john mccain and he was born in panama. not on the us base but due to his father being stationed there he is considered to be born in the us because the hospital he was born in is also the hospital for navy personal in the area.

Bogus
originally meant a machine for making counterfeit money. The word itself is at the center of a Libel case in the UK, for this:
The British Chiropractic Association claims that their members can help treat children with colic, sleeping and feeding problems, frequent ear infections, asthma and prolonged crying, even though there is not a jot of evidence. This organisation is the respectable face of the chiropractic profession and yet it happily promotes bogus treatments."
Was Spicoli the first to introduce this word into the pop lexicon?

I've read a number of things this year
right now I’m working on a pretty challenging philosophical treatise from the 18th century. I’m hoping to finish it soon and start something new. I have half a mind to try to read Moby Dick this fall/winter.

I almost got "The Road". Maybe my next one

I lied Suttree very much, though not as much as The Crossing

Blood Meridian
by Cormac McCarthy. He’s really famous for The Road now, but after having read 5 of his books, that one was the worst of those 5. Still good though.
Also if you haven’t ever read anything by Phillip Roth, get one of his books. There’s several but I’ve not really found a bad one yet. I’d recommend American Pastoral first.

her philosophy makes me want to open up my guts with a dull spoon. i’ve been programmed by the man to stand opposed to her works, on a philosophical point. i might enjoy reading some of it, like fountain head, but i can’t support her.

yeah, her ideology is a bit off in my mind as well, but she does make some interesting points… it’s a good read, if only so you know the counter points to your own arguements

Tinfoil hearts Ayn Rand
The woman can make a powerful argument. Reading her is kind of like going to church, where you’re so overwhelmed by a sense of conviction that you’re not able to think outside that box right away. Her stuff doesn’t hold up to scrutiny very well, but there’s something to be said for the power of demigoguery.
Whatever

Yo, she's a total light weight
anyone that promotes complete apathy for others and jokes about obliteration of people that think in masses , is a complete nut.
So I agree with u, when her material was required for the base of an assignment in one my philosophy courses, I flat out refused to participate.
