Inside Hoops power rankings- Portland #7
This list takes into account how well teams fared during the offseason (so far). Pretty good placement, even though we are behind Denver. Opinions?

With regards to the Spurs...
We’re proably overrating them
That’s probably their most accurate statement. This team is OLD and worn out. Adding an overrated Richard Jefferson doesn’t come close to fixing that.
With regards to Portland, was the Channing comment just an afterthought, or did it have to do with the sentence before about Oden?
This is the season Greg Oden has to emerge. Channing Frye is gone
Either way, Channing was a non-factor for the team. His leaving certainly has no bearing on Oden.
Still on the Rex bandwagon.
I'm sorry
But there is no way Denver or San Antonio should be ranked higher than us. And Dallas in the top 10? For reals? If this was 5 years ago with their team perhaps, but right now I don’t think so.
Then again, I have been wrong before. But I say we are 2nd in the west with 58 wins this season. And the power rankings will have us at 4.
"We believe" -Rudy Fernandez
Come on guys.
The simple fact is that the Nuggets made it to the WCF, and San Antonio will have all their players back (presumably healthy). Jefferson, Ginobili, Parker, Duncan… that’s some talent. Not to mention they’ll have McDyess to help backup Duncan. They definitely improved moreso than the Blazers did in the off season, and had the same amount of win totals last year as the Blazers, sans Ginobili and a shell of Duncan towards the end of the season.
"Ain't nothin' in this world for free."
They make an interesting point about Utah
Last year they did have a ton of injuries. I expect them to be a little better. They might be a sleeper this year. The NW will be a tough division.
I get the paper, so I don't care!
indeed. both the t-wolves and the okc team have made improvements.
it’ll be a hard battle for them to avoid being last in the division.
"There are a few teams you have to watch out for in the fourth quarter."
"Yeah, but Portland definitely is not one of them."
-New Orleans Hornets broadcasters at the end of the third quarter with the Hornets leading 74-59. Portland later ends up winning 97-89.
"They don't mind him shooting that shot at all. Rudy Fernandez is not that great of a 3pt shooter."
-New Orleans Hornets broadcasters right after a Rudy Fernandez missed 3pter. Rudy Fernandez finished the game with three 3pters on six attempts.

Big deal Denver made it to the WCF
That was the easy side the only team I was scared of was Houston, but SA did get better, yet are they better than us?
7 feels about right
we could end up more like 3 or 4, but we haven’t proven it yet, and the teams ahead of us have, so I can’t take issue with #7.
I like to put it in tiers. For me:
Tier 1: Lakers, Celtics, Cavaliers
Tier 2: Spurs, Magic, Nuggets, Blazers
Tier 3: Mavericks, Hornets, Jazz,
How did you guys win that?
"We scored enough points. We scored 107, they scored 105.

I wouldn't be surprised if....
next year we pass Boston and San Antonio. The majority of their players are getting on in age.
I think 7 is right....
if I had to bet I would probably take the over but pawer rankings are generally something you have to earn.
