Btw
The home opener IS on 10/27. The notation about American Airlines Arena in Miami is a mistake.

is it just me or does this schdule look pretty easy the first two months then gets hard at january
Trade for Luis Amundson!!Do it KP!!
2 of first three against Houston?
At least we’ll get some revenge against Von Wafer and friends (without Yao or McGrady or Artest….)
Maybe Rudy gets some revenge against Ariza too!
"whoever scores the most points is probably gonna win the game"
NICE!
Fresh meat (aka actual news worthy of salivating over)!!!
But I like to be here. Oh, I like it a lot! Said the Cat in the Hat. To the fish in the pot.

Well, looks like I'll get to see them on the 23rd of December, only once though...

What a difference a year makes
After last years brutal starting schedule to this years, possibly easiest in the league.
Although most teams start slow we nutted up last year and had an amazing start for the competition. This year anything less than 15-3 14-4 start would be disappointing!
How sweet would (will?) it be...
if that April 11th game on ABC between the Blazers and the F@kers was (is?) for the #1 seed?

We wear red on Christmas.
Sonics wore green
Dallas wore green
Will the Nuggets get to pull out some horrible throwback green jersey? Do they even have a green throwback jersey? Is their blue considered off-green? If not this could be a huge oversight by the league and they should have sent us the Bucks, the Celtics, or rethought our holiday game. Maybe we could have played the Knicks while they wear the Nate Robinson Kryptonite jerseys.

How did you guys win that?

oh yeah
and our reward when it’s all said and done is 1 day off and a home game against Denver.

Road trips vs. Home stands
anyone else notice the 3 4-game roadies and 2 5-game roadies we have, to compare to the 2 4-game and 1 5-game home stands…I don’t like that…
"It’s tough," Martinez said. "This is my house. This is my home."

get used to it
a big part of it is geography. Being the lone team way out here in the Northwest just doesn’t lend itself well to very many longer homestands.
How did you guys win that?
"We scored enough points. We scored 107, they scored 105.
-Nate McMillan Postgame, 3/4/2009
opponents WP by month, based on 08-09 records
Oct .650 (3)
Nov .431 (16)
Dec .526 (15)
Jan .534 (15)
Feb .499 (13)
Mar .402 (13)
Apr .447 (7)
So, let’s hope for a quick start in October/November to propel us through the Dec/Jan rough patch, then try to go on a big March run.

First Observations on the Blazers Schedule

road back to backs
most of them seem to feature the tougher team on the front end, so that’s a plus.
How did you guys win that?

-Nate McMillan Postgame, 3/4/2009
Yeah that makes me happy
I was hoping for that too.

erm...there are 19 back to backs..
"There are a few teams you have to watch out for in the fourth quarter."
"Yeah, but Portland definitely is not one of them."
-New Orleans Hornets broadcasters at the end of the third quarter with the Hornets leading 74-59. Portland later ends up winning 97-89.
"They don't mind him shooting that shot at all. Rudy Fernandez is not that great of a 3pt shooter."
-New Orleans Hornets broadcasters right after a Rudy Fernandez missed 3pter. Rudy Fernandez finished the game with three 3pters on six attempts.

Lots of road games at the end
Starting on Feb. 23rd, 15 of 22 on the road until the final 2 games at home (including a brutal 8 of 10 on the road in late Feb – early Mar). That’s a tough way to close out a season.
But a nice stretch starts on Christmas Day – 9 of 10 games at home, with the away game being at the Clippers. I can feel another streak coming!
The good news about that road stretch
is that it is not the toughest teams all in a row.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
Agree, but coming at the end of the season
the guys could be a little more worn out than ‘normal’ entering into the postseason.
Yes
I think we could sweep it too. That game being so late its possible the Fake Show will have locked up home court by then (Although I hope they haven’t and we’re battling for it).
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
Yes. even if we lost the one road game, they can’t beat us at home. A sweep is definitely possible though.

western non-conference
this is favorable.
LAL 2 home, 1 away
San Antonio 2 home, 1 away
Phoenix 1 home, 2 away
New Orleans 1 home, 2 away
all the rest are 2/2
How did you guys win that?
"We scored enough points. We scored 107, they scored 105.
-Nate McMillan Postgame, 3/4/2009
back to backs
all are travel related, sleep on the plane.
At a very quick first glance
I am counting another 54 win season. I see a 5 game winning streak in Nov, and a 6 game streak in March. The B2B’s against GSW and Wolves, and against GSW and Sacto don’t really scare me.
I get the paper, so I don't care!
As long as we don't do too many stupid things
Like lose to Charlotte again.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
I know I suppressed it
But thanks for bringing it back up…jerk

OKC doesn’t have a lot of good players… Green is really overrated, it’s pretty much Durant and Westbrook at this point.
optimism ftw
Harden
When I rule the world, everyone will know how to use Excel.
I wouldn't be surprised
I don’t expect him to be an all star or anything, but I think he is one guy who might challenge Griffin for ROY.
I won’t be surprised if he struggles, either, but if I had to guess, I would guess he’ll be a legit starter this year.
When I rule the world, everyone will know how to use Excel.
if we can protect home court early
it’s not inconceivable that we could go to New Orleans at 9-0

Predictions?
anyone want to start with the Blazers W/L record this year? Home record? Away record?

I'm feeling optimstic about our home court, but our road performance really is my only worry.

good question
I want to get my ticket to the Cavs game in Cleveland, and they’re playing at home on my birthday so I need to make my travel arrangements to get myself back to Portland!

i love the way the blazers end the season could go 14-3
Rest Periods
Consecutive days off (not counting All-Star break)
2 days – 11 times (take wife to dinner one night, re-watch the last game on TiVo the other night)
3 days – 4 times (wife to dinner, wife to movie, re-watch last game on TiVo)
4 days – 1 time (wife to dinner, wife to movie, re-watch last game on TiVo, PANIC – now what !?)

This is obvious
The four day break is March 15-18. The last game, March 14, is the return of Hedo. This is extremely likely to be worth rewatching twice.
When I rule the world, everyone will know how to use Excel.
Toughest Months
August – 0 Games
September – 0 Games
