Odds For the Portland Trailblazers Season
The Season is soon Upon Us...
An NBA team before the deadline will be calling for Outlaw's services. Outlaw was a spark off the bench during the 2008-2009 season, however after getting bullied around by the Rockets in the playoffs he proved to be more of a liability on the court. Plus, with Webster coming back Outlaw will see his role diminished. By himself, he does not garner much trade value however paired with.....
2 to 1 Jerryd Bayless will be trade by the deadline:
Whether he is packaged with Outlaw or another player the Blazers showed their hand when they signed Andre Miller. The point guard position is jam packed and in the final minutes of a game don't be supposed to see Roy bringing up the ball. Bayless is young enough and still desired by enough GM's that the Blazers should trade him when they can still get value, ( remember Sergio Rodriguez three years ago was once untouchable).
Over under for the Blazers in Wins 60:
With this team, winning six more games from last year (54-28) should not be out of the question. The Blazers have a very favorable schedule up until the end of November, their longest road trip that month goes five games through the bottom barrel of the Eastern conference. Last season January and February were by far their toughest months and having the veteran presence of Andre Miller and possible trade opportunities should give them a much needed boost in the arm mid season.
20 to 1 Joel Pryzbilla will be trade by the end of the season:
There were trade rumors for Pryzbilla during the summer which surprised many Blazer fans. However his future with the team will greatly by determined by the play of Greg Oden and Jeff Pendergraph. If Oden falters in the season, don't be surprised to find Joel in the starting line up.
4 to 1 Memorial Coliseum will be torn down in the next two years:
If the Blazers were not playing an exhibition game there in October, I would have put this at 200 to 1. However, the game on October 14 will remind Portland fans how outdated this building is, believe me when you end up waiting 20 minutes to use the urinal. The building is to old and the land is to valuable. However the Coliseum hot dos are far more superior then the RG.

I disagree with the first four bullets and don't care about the last one
Outlaw will be the first guy off the bench all year
Bayless is the point guard of the future
The Blazers won’t win more than 55 games
Joel has 3 years left with the Blazers

joel can opt out
Trade for Luis Amundson!!Do it KP!!

Yeah and he'll come back
Remember when everyone was stockpiling centers to battle Shaq? Why would the Blazers let Joel go just to play against Oden and why would Joel leave a good team? He’s getting older, so it’s not like he should expect to get paid more than he’s getting paid now.

Your over/under for wins (60)
is way too high. Vegas will probably put it at something like 52.5.
Roy, Aldridge, Oden, Rudy, Batum, Outlaw, Webster, Bayless, Blake, Miller, Joel... Holy crap!

If it is 52.5
I will need to call vegas and place a wager

Honestly, those are terrible estimates of odds...
…are you seriously taking the position that Bayless is more likely to be traded than Outlaw? Seriously?
by JordanLeDoux on Aug 29, 2009 10:35 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, that was my first thought too. Outlaw is far more likely to be traded (assuming Webster's healthy).

3 to 1 Travis Outlaw will be traded by the deadline: Push
Highly depends on how fast Webster comes back to form, how urgent finding more minutes for Nic and Rudy looks to the team, and how the experiment playing PF backup works. If Travis wants that really big deal in the dimension of what Rudy Gay will get (as his agent I would put out all the per 36 and usage and efficiency stats that show Travis is even better in some regards), he might even prefer more minutes on a lesser team. Nate likely would want to keep him, KP might be ambiguous.
2 to 1 Jerryd Bayless will be trade by the deadline: Under
Bayless is not available this year. Rumors out of Chicago, New York and other cities said including Bayless as a throw-away piece in a deal was a big no go. They want to see what they got, and his value for trades will only rise
Over under for the Blazers in Wins 60: Under
But not much
20 to 1 Joel Pryzbilla will be trade by the end of the season: Under
The Blazers continue to look into options for the big men rotation of the future, but it’s unlikely Joel will be moved with another team not knowing if he will opt out and a trade kicker to pay. They have to risk losing him in free agency if his mind would be set on more minutes and money, which might or might not be the case.
4 to 1 Memorial Coliseum will be torn down in the next two years: I have no idea

I've seen this argument several times
so I’m not picking on you specifically when I say that the argument “Sergio was once untouchable and lost value so we should trade Bayless while he’s still prized around the league” makes zero intuitive or logical sense.
Kobe Bryant was once untouchable as a valued lottery pick and became one of the greatest players in NBA history (much as it feels like white-hot pokers are being rammed through my liver to admit it), ergo Jerryd will become one of the greatest players in NBA history because he was a valued lottery pick. Kinda silly, right? No sillier than saying Bayless is the next Sergio just because both are point guards who were or are valued by the organization.
Their playing styles are different, their roles on the team were or are different, the team is in a different place. Argue against Bayless on his demerits, and at this point they are plentiful, but I’d be a happy fan if everybody would permanently stow the “Sergio’s value diminished over time so let’s trade Bayless before that happens” argument.

actually
it is sillier than saying " Bayless is the next Sergio just because both are point guards who were or are valued by the organization."
There is not one Kobe for every one Sergio.

Lets back up,bucko
Point 1-2 TO 1 Travis is packing by the deadline.Perhaps.No tarde value?HE HAS A EXPIRING CONTRACT!Hes a bargain at 4+mill.It will expire UNLESS he is indeed paired in a trade. If the writer watched more than a handful of games,he would know he weakness is on the boards. He can play D ,but is best within a team scheme. Hence the term ‘tweener’.POINT 2- Bayless traded @3 to 1…Comparing Bayless to Serigo is the dumbest thing IVE EVER HEARD.Bayless is a shooting guard being converted.Which makes him perfect in the 4th when Roy handles the ball if Miller isnt available. But in a year two contract that is piddle, trade him.?Yea, for Russell Westbrook or Jeff Green.Straight up.He is a insurance policy. His value is what he is offered.A nd no,not Blake either.Assist to turnover ratio.Know it. POINT 3- over/under 60 wins.+11 WINS (FROM 22 TO 33)THEN +9,THE +12.Overall,the West will be tougher yet. The top of the ladder is where the wind blows hardest..POINT 4-Joel,likely the starting center.Come on,he has one year left ,a expiring contract at deadline time. But we didnt get a good enough deal to tarde Raefs! So unless its a sweety, makes sense, and unpassable,Pritchard isnt past letting it go.ESPECIALLY if it looks like home court in the first round. But he is attractive, granted .POINT 5-THE Glass Palace.I for one will feel like I lost a friend. If not for the fact a contractor who speciallized in B.B. arena construction FED UP,we would likely have had a NHL team in the expansion. The Buckaroos(Harry Glickman and co.) were the only DYNASTY (1ST PLACE 8 TIMES,2ND 3 TIMES 3 CHAMPIONSHIPS) this CITY has seen.?SOMETHING THAT FITS like a stadium WAS PERFECT BUT NOT UNLIKE Delta Park, the city came to the rescue(Really?)Not.

Interesting last point
Interesting last comment……
One thing to consider. Blazer point guard depth chart, 1)Miller 2)Blake and 3) Bayless. In the fourth quarter Bayless drops to the fourth spot behind Roy. Trade him now, so you can get something in return

Miller will be around
for several years – then its back to Blake or Bayless. So, if you trade Bayless, whose the future point guard, or even the backup at point in a couple of years. Just food for thought.
