How fate finally stepped in for me

For years now it has been a dream of mine to be able to see the Blazers play in Orlando and Miami. Why these places you ask? Well I have an aunt that lives in Florida and I thought it would be a blast to be able to go to Florida for a vacation and to go to both games while I was there since they typically play these games back to back.

The hard part for me has always been not knowing what the schedule will be until this time of year. I am usually out of vacation by the time they do play in Florida and it is too late to try to plan a trip. I have always hoped that they play in the beginning of the new year so I have a fresh batch of vacation time but it hasn’t ever worked out for me.

Well my friends, FATE has finally stepped in. Yesterday I got a call from my aunt asking me to house-sit for her when she goes on vacation. And when is she going to be gone?

December 14 through December 21. Which means I will be in Florida when the Blazers take on Orlando and Miami on Dec 19 and Dec 20.

Oh man, what a glorious day for me. I am so excited to finally be able to go see my guys play in another city. Now, if only I can somehow meet the team while I am down there watching the games (hopefully behind the Blazers bench).

Nice!

I’ve seen the Blazers play in Los Angeles (Staples Center, Forum and Sports Arena) and in Oakland – definitely different than watching them play in Portland but still a treat.

Now your dream needs to be that Portland wins both games….

No kidding.

That’s just obvious though :)

Great! The fates are with you.

Every once in a while I fantasize about seeing Blazers play in every arena. It’d be an amazing journey!

As far as meeting the team, I hope someone will chime in and let you know all of the tricks for meeting players. Seems like I’ve read some advice along those lines.

by Corvid on Aug 27, 2009 9:47 AM PDT reply actions

I have heard that it is easier to meet the players at away games than at home games

Wear Blazer gear, get there early, and go down to the court when they start warming up.

by trk on Aug 27, 2009 11:41 PM PDT up reply actions

I wondered that, too

I was thinking a European player, but Sergio is gone, Claver, Freeland, and Koponen haven’t come over yet, and Sophia would slit her throat if she even glanced at Nic.

What’s a girl to do?.

I am sassy.

Actually I was going to make a junk drawer out of this but then saw I was too late. I guess I’ll go over there to talk for a minute.

Yes

Last year is seems Blazers fans on the road had a ton of success when they showed up to the games really early.

I get the paper, so I don't care!

Awesome!!

I tried to schedule a vacation last spring around going to a game vs. the Hawks, but it just didn’t quite work out. Always thought it would be fun to show up and support the team on the road.

PS—I want an all of the above for the poll.

All of the above options are lame.

This way you have to thing long about the answer :)

Seems like the trick is to wear a Blazers jersey to the game. You should Tweet Travis.

its fun to go to Blazer road games

I’ve been to games in Sacramento, Seattle, that one crazy game in the Tacoma Dome, and Oakland. I’m sure you will have a blast.

Speaking of fate and Florida

It’s pretty clear to me that the Miami Heat will be the 2010 champions. They are a dark horse that will win it all.

If you’ve got the email you should ask her yourself.

If she’s ignoring your emails, well, then there’s always match.com, right? Or craigslist…

by ArbyOSU on Sep 2, 2009 11:12 AM PDT up reply actions

No offense.

But she probably gave you a fake email..or would ignore it if you did email her. She’s just flaky, don’t take it personally.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
