Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Anyone found a site that lets you download data for teams? I am wanting to do some analysis on players, specifically player height, minutes played and wins and rebounds, i am curious to see what the tallest teams are and if it helps.

I know our blazers are always called one of the tallest teams and i am curious if it matters.

you can get those stats

from Espn.com, nba.com, blazers.com, etc…they are pretty normal stats, not very hard to find.

I know the data isn’t hard to find. What is hard to find is years worth of data in a format that is downloadable. The point being I want to get the data into a database so it is easier to do analysis on.

you might try Draftexpress so you can use standing reach or wingspan, which might be better more relevant than height. For example, Hilton Armstrong would be 6’ tall with a normal length neck, but does that neck length really help him?

Life is exhausting when you are this stupid.

I will talk about DeJuan Blair no more forever

For player stats

I would suggest using http://www.dougstats.com, which allows you to easily import numbers into Excel. Getting height is a tad bit trickier, but can be done with the information at Patricia Bender’s NBA site (http://www.eskimo.com/~pbender ).

basketball-reference.com is usually the best

I think there might be a way to download stuff in spreadsheet form, not 100% sure though.

You can measure skill and talent with your eyes, but productivity is shown through statistics.

yeah it is a good site but they dont have player by team data for the year (at least one that includes height)

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
