BDL: Kobe's expensive website.
He's making fans pay $25 for the privilege of accessing his website... wow.

He should be charging $24.
What’s an extra dollar for a pristine marketing opportunity?

Smart. It looks like he knows his fanbase.
Because only a bunch of idiots would pay for his website.

What a great concept
I think it is a great concept. Just because it’s on the internet does not mean it should be free.
Before the internet became our culture if you wanted to be part of an exclusive group of fans
for an athlete or movie star you join their “fan club” via mail. This always came with a price and you
got perks like photo’s, newsletters, special items only available to Fan Club members. This is no
different except the respnse time is immeadiate. There is plenty of content to be found for the
casual browser of his site, but to be part of “the inner circle” you must become a member. This
membership will also keep the “trolls” off his message boards and allow for a more meaningful exchange
between Kobe and his “true fans” in that forum. I would much rather pay $24.95 to become a member of
my favorite athletes site then $59.99 to become an “Insider” on ESPN.
Look for more athletes to follow suit.

It's the fact that he earns millions of dollars from fan's interest that means it should be free.

I will post my thoughts on this subject...
if somebody sends me some money. I will put you on my subscribers list.
If you pay for the “premium” membership, I will remove you from the list.

ehh
it’s a free market. If Kobe wants to charge $25, and the income he gets from those willing to pay is enough to offset some minor PR hit, then more power to him.
How did you guys win that?
