What a Shock, Memphis pimping themselves again
Memphis has been recruited (shocker!) to be the facilitator in the Marion to Dallas deal. Reportedely Memphis is not going to net anything for it's trouble.
Memphis continues it's run of being the other 29 team's lacky.

Well 28 teams.
I think we aren’t included.

true
for some reason, I get the feeling that if we went to memphis and needed their cap space for a deal, even if we were willing to pay twice the freight, plus a draft pick, we would get rebuffed.
What kills me is that are doing all this for nothing, and helping a division rival in the process. shouldn’t there be some sort of competitiveness clause? should teams be allowed to just not care at all, and make a sham out of the system in the process? Memphis continues to prove it is apparently all fine and well just to do that.
If the NBA were a fantasy league, most all of their deals would be vetoed, and they would get booted out of the league.
How did you guys win that?

Memphis is becoming the new Clippers
But in an odd way. Not only are they not helping themselves (like the Clippers do), they help everyone else (once again, except us, they actually hurt us).
It’s really strange.

yeah, its way worse than the clippers
the clippers just kept killing themselves over and over again. Largely, once could argue, through terrible decision making. Memphis is different. They have no interest in winning. they have no interest in building a long term cohesive plan. Their only interest is in keeping costs down and making a bit of money. But they do it by purposely and deliberately helping the teams they are supposed to be competing against. At their worst, the clippers never really did that

What'll be the Memphis Girzzlies outgoing asset and the Toronto Raptors incoming asset?
I bet it’ll be something like a 2014 second-round draft pick that’s top-55 protected, with Memphis’ obligations to Toronto extinguished if it’s in the top 55 picks.

Or maybe future considerations for a third round pick
Just in case the league decides to extend the draft.

Or an unsigned pick who will never come over, for 2-3 million in cash from Dallas

The Memphis Grizzlies don't have any of those guys.
I also wonder if the Grizzlies will ask for a tangible asset to go along with Jerry Stackhouse and cash considerations. With Antoine Wright apparently being pushed out of the rotation due to the signing of Quinton Ross, the Grizzlies could make a play for him.

Shouldn't this help the Blazers case
that Memphis really doesn’t make their decisions based on their best self interest? In this case it’s helping other teams rather than hurting them, but really, doesn’t it all boil down to them making wacky business decisions at the expense/benefit of other teams?

wait
they get the right to pay 2mil to Stackhouse? They cant get a first rounder out of Dallas for that? For a team that is cheap this seems like a weird move for them.
Life is exhausting when you are this stupid.
I will talk about DeJuan Blair no more forever

I'm thinking they got the maximum $3 million in cash
No reason for Grizzlies to be doing this otherwise. They make a cool $1 million for their troubles.

Dallas has no first rounder to give up, 2010 lives in NJ after the Kidd deal and second rounder live in Indiana
