i'd do it just to see sloan get in a fist fight with noah and travis
(that means it will never happen on utah’s end)
i didn’t even finish reading the rest of the trade.

Yeah, Sloan definitely would not get along with Noah
He got pissed when Krylenko Fesenko just dyed his hair blond.

I'm not sure that they'd give up Noah and Salmons and Hinrich
That sorta guts their roster a bit.

yeah sounds steep, but it always seems like a lot goes for an all star in his prime.

Utah was ready to let Boozer walk a few weeks ago.
At this point, they just want cap relief and crumbs. Knowing that, Chicago isn’t going to trade 2 starters and their 6th man for a guy that just came off a 37-game season.

Utah and Chicago would probably pass
Chicago would pass unless Boozer were to sign to a reasonable multi-year deal.(with injuries he’s add, attitude questions and him being gone in 2010 they probably would be scared to pull the trigger). They are also giving up a lot for a gamble that may not put them over the top.
Unless money is desparate in Utah, they’re giving away an allstar for two bench players(albeit near starters).
If they are shopping Boozer they are going to want to lock up a starter at the 3 or 2. If we gave them Rudy instead of Trout, maybe…. but I doubt it still.

Agreed
Hinrich, Salmons and Noah is too much to give up for Boozer and Blake.

Unless I'm mistaken
money is desperate in Utah. AK47 is getting huge money and they need to resign a bunch of key players. To compound the problem, they get the knicks first pick next year which will probably be a lottery pick. That means an automatic 3-6 million dollar contract.

A more realistic option
Is Utah takes Picks in return and nothing else after they sign Milsap they will be way over the Cap
Draft Cole Aldrich 2010
by jlarose78 on Jul 7, 2009 9:25 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
Utah is over the cap
and any trade sending out Carlos Boozer will still leave them over the cap which means the salaries need to match IAW the 125% + $100,00 rule. That means that Utah has two options when trading Boozer. Either take back at least 9.15 mil or send out enough to get them below the cap, like 17 mil.
by Salem Team Regional on Jul 7, 2009 9:37 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
you can always take back less
utah can send out boozer and take back $0 in salary. It’s chicago that has to send out at least 9.5 million in order to take boozer. hinrich and spare change would work. if we take hinrich and the spare change goes to utah, then you have a working deal.
How did you guys win that?

Makes sense
for everyone but utah. i know they dont really want boozer but i think they could do better than outlaw and noah.

They expected Boozer to walk this summer
They got kinda screwed when he ended up opting in.
by ninjasocks on Jul 7, 2009 9:33 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Right
Trading Boozer essentially gets them the ability to sign Millsap plus whatever comes back in trade.

Never Happen
Just curious… Who is da Bulls 2 guard for this season after proposed trade? They give up their only two options at the 2 in Hinrich and Salmons??
by Salem Team Regional on Jul 7, 2009 9:39 PM PDT reply actions 1 recs
I put up the idea yesterday
of
POR sends Steve Blake to CHI
POR receives Kirk Hinrich
UTA sends Carlos Boozer to CHI
UTA receives Tyrus Thomas
CHI sends Kirk Hinrich to POR and Tyrus Thomas to UTA
CHI receives Carlos Boozer
I included those two players from Chicago since they are the ones most mentioned as trade bait. Utah gets salary relief plus Tyrus Thomas to play backup PF (and Thomas also serves as a possible expiring contract if they don’t want him beyond this season). And Portland gets their upgrade at PG.

i can't imagine sloan wanting thomas either, but this trade is definitely more likely than any involving salmons

Could the Blazers just send cap-space and a draft pick?
So Utah moves Boozer and only gets cap-space in return, then uses the cap-space to sign Millsap
(Or, think of it this way)
The Blazer sign an offer sheet to MIllsap for 7.7mil (first year salary+escalators) the Jazz match it, then execute the 3-way deal with Boozer going to Chicago and Hinrich coming to Portland?

No
Not enough cap room to take in Hinrich and send nothing out.
by Storyteller on Jul 7, 2009 10:12 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
so Portland would have to send out a contract
of at least the difference of 9,500,000 – 7,700,000 = 1,800,000
(unless KP decides to renounce Koponen, which would remove another 824K)
So, if Portland sent Blake and his 4 mil to Utah, they’d only have to use around 5.5 mil of the capspace, etc

I trust your word over RealGM's trade checker - but why is Trade Checker off?
Trade Checker says we can accept Hinrich without giving anything back

Would Chicago then turn around and sign Boozer to an extension? (I'm assuming so, since they don't want to rent him for a year)
Or would that ruin their opportunity to clear cap space for 2010?
by Furious Styles on Jul 7, 2009 10:08 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
they would want to, but it wouldn't suprise me to see Boozer try it out free agency next year
All that money that teams will be throwing around, that’s why Boozer didn’t opt out this year imo

I doubt it
They’d probably just let his contract expire, the freed-up cap-space may be enough for them to pursue DWade

Offering a reasonable extension to Boozer
(starting at $10-11 million) would still leave them with a lot of cap room. If Salmons opts out as expected, they’d have enough for Wade.
by Storyteller on Jul 7, 2009 10:20 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Thanks
I thought they would come up short of 17 mil for Wade unless they can move Deng’s contract

It all depends on Salmons
Most Chicago fans (at least the ones on the boards that I’ve seen) expect him to opt out, but if he doesn’t, they have a lot of cap room but probably not enough to get Wade (this is all assuming Boozer gets a reasonable extension).
by Storyteller on Jul 7, 2009 10:38 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
They'd be crazy to sign Boozer to a long-term extension without seeing if he can stay healthy for a season.
They’ll have his Bird rights and be in the driver seat to re-sign him if they choose. Or they renounce him and go after whichever FA they choose (Bosh, Wade…)

how about
boozer to chicago
hinrich to portland
blake to utah
roberson to either (who can be waived by 7/10 costing no money)
How did you guys win that?

Good idea
But in order to take in both Boozer and Blake, Chicago has to send out $12.979 in salary.

I posted Blake to Utah, not Chicago
I believe this one would work as I wrote it

that would leave Chicago a little thin at the guard position and still too deep on the front court
not sure they want to lose Hinrich and Gordon from their backcourt with no replacements

Chicago
Boozer is not for them, in my opinion. Nor any big free agent this year.
Here is there plan in my eyes:
Wait for some freak of nature Pau Gasol/Chauncey Billups trade to fall into their laps
OR
Make moves for expiring contracts in 2010 so they can be a player for Dwayne Wade, to bring him back home to pair probably the most disgusting Back Court in the NBA of Rose/Wade.
Patience :)

Salmons?
John Salmons has a very poor attitude that would conflict with the “culture” aspect of our team. He sulks when he doesn’t start or get enough shots. That is not the type of player that KP, Nate McMillan, or Paul Allen would add. That kinda shoots this version down.

I think it could work, but i’d expect Utah to want a little something in return if they can get it. Yes, they want cap relief, but the Blazers are full of talented young players with relatively cheap and/or expiring contracts. I’d be surprised if a 3-way deal sending Boozer to the Bulls and Hinrich to the Blazers didn’t also send at least one of our somewhat attractive young guns such as Batum, Rudy, or maybe even Bayless and probably either a Blake or Outlaw expiring contract to the Jazz. None of the first three have expiring contracts but they’d all come with at least pretty good value for the buck which helps in the long run towards fielding as much talent for as little $ as possible (no GM wants to put together a garbage team just to save money, even if they are directly ordered to cut costs they still all want to win as many games as possible while doing it). Portland would be better off trading Rudy if they had to pick one of the three just because he seems the most expendable as he’s yet to prove he can consistently produce at any position outside of SG, on a team with an all-star SG ahead of him. I’m not sure what the Jazz would want, they have a very good PG now and decent wing players. Would they want more of a scoring punch on the wing in Rudy, a very good perimeter defender and probably the player with the most potential in Batum, or a PG/SG hybrid in Bayless that could probably provide decent minutes at both positions now or in the near future? I’m almost sure they’d want one of them, my guess is if there were talks going on, the Jazz would be trying to wrestle Batum from Portland in the deal above all else.

No way the Blazers trade $8 million in cap space, Blake/Outlaw and Batum/Rudy for Hinrich
Blake and Outlaw is about right for Hinrich. Adding $8 million in cap space and one of the promising sophomores is highway robbery.
