Brother Wendell weighs in on DLee, Ric Bucher tweets on Odom
"It’s a Catch-22 for Portland. You never have to draw-up a play for Lee and he fits the "toughness" mentality Portland seeks in the frontcourt. He simply gets after it. But coming off the bench isn’t of any interest in the least to Lee. Who knows? Maybe Kevin Pritchard and Nate McMillan sell him on it. Or maybe $9 or $10 million reasons will change his mind."
Evidently Portland has also spoken with Lamar Odom's agent

Another waste of cap space
How can people say that Hedo was a waste of cap space(entirely true) but not agree with the Lee situation?? Good player, but who spends 10m on a backup who will get 10-18 min a game?? I hope not Portland!!
Greg Oden - The only other rookie with more than 500 points, 400 rebounds, and 65 blocks in under 1400 minutes played. Since 1946

Hedo - Waste of Space/Lee - The Sky's The Limit/Odom - Inconsistency at its Moodiest
Hedo – 30 now, is probably at the top of his game, but will be paid top dollar for declining numbers starting perhaps as early as next year, and definitely untradable in 3 years. THAT is a waste of cap space.
Lee – A Consistent double double machine with a blue collar work ethic as a player. He might not be the veteran we need, but he will be tradable for every year we sign him to (unless he gets hurt). He is only 26 and averaged over 11 rebounds a game on a team with an offensive mindset. Even if he’s unhappy riding the bench until 2010 he’d still be asset we can trading without spliting up our core, and he can start for Webster/Batum.
Odom – Should be called Sybil — he has multiple personalities. Which one will show up on any given night is anyone’s guess. He is the same as Hedo — he will not be tradable by any team that resigns him to his next contract, and his best years are probably behind him. I think we need a veteran player — which he is — but one that we want our team to emulate

Absolutely agree...
I will reword what I meant.
Hedo – Waste of space
Lee – Waste of space at this point in time.
Odom – No thanks

We talk to Odom's agent - just to mess with LA
He was an integral part of LA having the toughness and flexibility to win a championship, so I’d love his talent on our team. However, I’m not sure his personality would fit.
Either way, unless we’re tying up our cap space elsewhere, I think we have to put in a bid. LA is already way into luxury tax territory and we should make sure they pay as high a price as possible if they are going to spend their way into another Championship.
