Canzano's Next Column: A prediction
I predict he's going to write some column about how management failed to get Turkoglu because they didn't take him to the right places in Portland, because they didn't give him the right pizza, and because they're not good at selling the city all the while completely overlooking and not admitting that Toronto is much more of an international city and the fact that Turkoglu will make more money there. Oh yeah, his column will have a long paragraph followed by a one sentence paragraph, rinse and repeat.

I think it will be a bit of what you mentioned, with a little bit of doom and gloom about how “town” like Portland will never appeal to big time athletes, throw in an LMA to Houston/Dallas blast, and ask if Portland is even less desirable to live in for a guy in his mid 20s than Salt Lake City. That’s our Johnny (God, I hope he gets another job soon)
Team Bayless - The takeover begins in 2009

For really realz
I think the Oregonian keeps him employed just to be able to have a bad view of the Blazers. But I do see this artical coming just like you both have said, BUT, and this is a BIG butt like that fat dating show on fox. He will also be pushing for a coaching AND gm change due to this. I hate Canzano with a passion with all his degrading remarks about the team just last season, and then switching tunes this season.
What's the differance of 3-6 mil? oh about 20+ more losses, and the chance to watch the only star leave by the end of the season. Suck it Hedo!

WOW
Thats pretty harsh…………..For Rome. Rome might be a flippin prick, but to put Rome on the same level as Canzano. That is just harsh lol

Canzano doesn't have a sense of humor, he just has an over-inflated sense of self-worth

Canzano just writes about what he knows
He only writes about himself.
It seems like he is on a mission to teach sports fan selfishness. Like we need a leg up on that.
Oh, and to make himself out like the only thing that matters in the meantime. Douche much?

How can you even compare the two?
The only redeeming thing about Canzano is he actually asks tough questions… Rome? Other than Jim “Chris” Everett all his interviews are cakewalk. Rome always talks about the Alonzo Mourning thing but Rome didn’t actually say anything DURING the interview. I love everything about Rome except his interviews… and him talking about his stupid race horses.

Rome is fine
He is getting to recursive with his clones, and that is difficult to take after awhile. I like his positive attitude with his guests. I mean, he asks more probing questions than were asked of George Bush.

Has anyone been close to Canzano?
I have a feeling he smells like vinegar and water.

Whatever he writes it's going to suck, and be insulting to all of us. He'll probably gloss hedo and blame it all on us.
Welcome to Portland Canzano!!!! Now go away.
P.S. Does anyone remember what Oregon’s state motto was when Tom McCall was governor? Something like “Welcome to Oregon. A nice place to visit, but please don’t stay”?

I bet it will be about some
turkish girl in the childrens hospital that is missing an eye and has a serious case of lupus or something. All she wanted was to see TURK play in a blazergame and now that she can’t, she’ll soon meet her demise.

and then he'll tell us how he's personally going to fly her to toronto, since none of us seem to care about whether she lives or dies.
And then talk for awhile about John Nash and Steve Patterson and the jail blazers again. And then he will remind us that we live in a small market, and how we are delusional Et al, et al

This is what I think
For what its worth, and to my wife thats not a whole lot lol. I think the next artical he write that downs the Blazers, we should go after him like this was 1692 and go all Witch Trial……………Sorry I think I might have gone a lil to far but what can I say I am an old soul in a young and fat body ;-)

Wow, so much hate
I like JC and listen to his radio show. He can be irritating and repetitive, but he’s a heck of a lot better than other drivel out there (like 1080).

And here's the article...
The Blazers overvalued the “I’m in” promise Turkoglu made after dining Wednesday with coach Nate McMillan. They went all-in too early. This recruitment was delicate. Money is always at the center of free agency, but this one was different. It needed to end up being about more than the bottom line for the Blazers to get Turkoglu.
They failed to do that.
Turkoglu would tell you McMillan was a big hit. But Roy should have been flown in to make a personal pitch to his potential teammate. The Blazers should have insisted that Mrs. Turkoglu come too, and she should have been ushered around the city and shown that Portland, like Istanbul, is a gorgeous river city that would have felt comfortable.
Because there wasn’t enough left to fend off Toronto’s pre-emptive offer. Money talked. Turkoglu walked.
The franchise should never forget the thought of him disappearing up Morrison Street, crossing Fifth Avenue, headed to Toronto.
