JD: Happy 4th, Welcome home Iraqi Vets!

The 4th kicked off early this year for me. Five of my closest friends are returning from Iraq. While my friends are healthy, and whole, there are many more who are coming back from the  front  who have suffered tremendous injury.

Whatever your political disposition, Most of us are a citizen of the United States, We are all citizens of the world, and the men and women of armed forces are worth honor and respect at least, whatever else they may deserve.

Even L*ker fans.

Happy (and SAFE) 4th everyone!!!!

Now set off those fireworks you got from the REAL americans.

Star-divide

PS

Sorry about the double.

From the Halls of Montezuma,
To the shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country’s battles
In the air, on land, and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
Of United States Marine.

Our flag’s unfurled to every breeze
From dawn to setting sun;
We have fought in every clime and place
Where we could take a gun;
In the snow of far-off Northern lands
And in sunny tropic scenes;
You will find us always on the job
The United States Marines.

Here’s health to you and to our Corps
Which we are proud to serve;
In many a strife we’ve fought for life
And never lost our nerve;
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven’s scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines.

March along, sing our song, with the Army of the free
Count the brave, count the true, who have fought to victory
We’re the Army and proud of our name
We’re the Army and proudly proclaim

First to fight for the right,
And to build the Nation’s might,
And The Army Goes Rolling Along
Proud of all we have done,
Fighting till the battle’s won,
And the Army Goes Rolling Along.

 Then it’s Hi! Hi! Hey!
The Army’s on its way.
Count off the cadence loud and strong (TWO! THREE!)
For where e’er we go,
You will always know
That The Army Goes Rolling Along.

Valley Forge, Custer’s ranks,
San Juan Hill and Patton’s tanks,
And the Army went rolling along
Minute men, from the start,
Always fighting from the heart,
And the Army keeps rolling along.
(refrain)

Men in rags, men who froze,
Still that Army met its foes,
And the Army went rolling along.
Faith in God, then we’re right,
And we’ll fight with all our might,
As the Army keeps rolling along.

(la la la tune)

Stand Navy out to sea
Fight our battle cry:
We’ll never change our course
So vicious foes steer shy-y-y-y
Roll out the T. N. T.
Anchors Aweigh
Sail on to victory
And sink their bones to Davy Jones, hooray!

Yo ho there shipmate
Take the fighting to the far off seas
Yo ho there messmate
Hear the wailing of the wild banshees
All hands, fire brands
Let’s Blast them as we go. So

Anchors Aweigh my boys
Anchors Aweigh
Farewell to college joys (or “Farewell to foreign shores”)
We sail at break of day day day day
Through our last night ashore
Drink to the foam
Until we meet once more
Here’s wishing you a happy voyage home!

Heave a ho there sailor
Everybody drink up while you may
Heave a ho there sailor
For your gonna sail at break of day
Drink away, Drink away,
For you sail at break of day, Hey!

Blue of the Mighty Deep
Gold of God’s Sun
Let these our colors be
Till all time be done
By Severn Shore we learn
Navy’s stern call
Faith, Courage, Service True
With Honor Over, Honor Over All.
As of the Summer of 2004, the verses taught at Navy Boot Camp are:

Stand, Navy, out to sea, Fight our battle cry;
We’ll never change our course, So vicious foe steer shy-y-y-y.
Roll out the TNT , Anchors Aweigh. Sail on to victory
And sink their bones to Davy Jones, hooray!

Anchors Aweigh, my boys, Anchors Aweigh.
Farewell to college joys, We sail at break of day, of day.
Through our last night on shore, Drink to the foam,
Until we meet once more. Here’s wishing you a happy voyage home!

Guess i gotta represent now

Off we go into the wild blue yonder,
Climbing high into the sun;
Here they come zooming to meet our thunder,
At ’em boys, Give ’er the gun!
Down we dive, spouting our flame from under,
Off with one hell of a roar!*
We live in fame or go down in flame.
Nothing can stop the U.S. Air Force!

Minds of men fashioned a crate of thunder,
Sent it high into the blue;
Hands of men blasted the world asunder;
How they lived God only knew! (God only knew!)
Souls of men dreaming of skies to conquer
Gave us wings, ever to soar!
With scouts before and bombers galore.
Nothing’ll stop the U.S. Air Force!

Here’s a toast to the host
Of those who love the vastness of the sky,
To a friend we send a message of his brother men who fly.
We drink to those who gave their all of old,
Then down we roar to score the rainbow’s pot of gold.
A toast to the host of men we boast, the U.S. Air Force!

Off we go into the wild sky yonder,
Keep the wings level and true;
If you’d live to be a grey-haired wonder
Keep the nose out of the blue!
Flying men, guarding the nation’s border,
We’ll be there, followed by more!
In echelon we carry on.
Nothing will stop the U.S. Air Force!

The Blazers will play beautiful basketball.

Brandon will shoot the lights out. Blake will run and LMA will finish strong at the hoop. Bayless will play because we’ll be so far ahead in the 4th quarter, giving all the Jerryd fans something to smile about.

But wait, that’s not all. Rudy will go 5 of 5 from distance. Batum will posterize someone. And Channing will NOT lead the team in points.

It was a BEST MOVIE poll

Boner Party, USA
The Booger Rebellion of Fart City IV
The Crazy Mixed-up Poop Town Massacre— A Bed Wetter’s Revenge
Mother, May I Sleep with Barf? The Franny Mungledumps story.
Citizen Kane

Personally, I like the Booger Rebellion of Fart City III better, but most critics feel like IV was the masterpiece of the series— truly, the rare sequel better than the original. I just think the basic storyline is too similar to the first 3 movie, with the 3rd movie being the best version of the story.

Grab a mail box, and throw it through a Blockbuster window and run in and steal Pants 1 and 2, because you need to see them right away.

No, they aren’t good, they are kid girl movies. I’ve only seen #1, though, so maybe #2 is like the Empire Strikes Back of the series.

Hmm, off the top of my head I can’t think of none, but there are a ton…

Lots more ruin the previous 110 minutes with a bad ending.

I guess movies with trick endings have an ending that elevate it since the ending is the whole point.

Though one of my friends is the foot and hand double for Bruce Willis in that movie.

Whenever ya see an insert of his foot hitting the gas pedal, or his hand doing something, it is my pal. My pal was instructed to never look Willis in the eye, or to ever speak to him.

Its easier than skillfully constructing the scenes to be fast paced yet coherent.

9 times out of 10

Unless someone is sure of their vision and how they want it to look, they will opt for the easy way out (lotsa setups, figure it out in editing) over shooting it a set way.

Plus, the shakey-quick-cuts style is in vogue right now, making it worse.

the prob. is more national media about the blazers the more random people see the tag JOIN BLAZERSEDGE NOW!

but people are soooo excited to offer their vast knowledge that they don’t read the terms and conditions or bother to observe the way others compose themselves. These are people that get in a comment fight everytime they go to youtube.

Is anyone else getting tired

of the abuse of the fanpost? If I see another worthless 3 sentence fanpost I just might smash something. I know it’ll quiet down later in the summer, but when training camp starts and then next season it’s going to be chaos in here. Is there any way to institute a fanpost review? “Thank you for taking time to create this post. A moderator will now determine if your post meets the minimum requirements to be published.”

Maybe we need a comment minimum before posting…say…100 comments. I just think we’re going to need something in place before the start of next season. Blazers’ Edge is too popular, the team is too popular. We’re going to be adrift in a sea of 15 comment fanposts, not because the site is dead, but because everyone needs to get their 2 cents into a fanpost instead of just commenting.

It’s a tough animal to tackle.

It would be nice if the "Z" functioned tallied what you have actually read. I say that because I’m sure there are some who have read a lot of posts but haven’t done much posting or commenting themselves. And then if they had a couple good posts might not be allowed to put them up.
I don’t know what’s been worse, the end of the season or this Hedo thing. And then there have been times when I thought a certain post was ludicrous for whatever reason, and then that particular thread turned out to be a good read.
All I can say for sure is if the mods are going to start deleting posts they need to do it early before a lot of comments get logged or people other than the poster will be upset.
I have noticed that some of these duplicitous posts have been getting very few comments logged, but I really don’t think this is a cure itself kind of thing. Any media splash will result in more of the same.
All in all, I think your idea of a post being reviewed by a mod before becoming public might work. That way a comment minimum wouldn’t be required, because I think there are too many drawbacks with that method.

It has alot to do with so much traffic

I think if BEdge isn’t the highest trafficked blog (and I’ve checked—it’s definitely in the running), it’s one of the 2 or 3 highest. He’s also been around for a long time on the SBN hoop blogs which matters also. He’s not Matt or TZ, but at the same time, he’s a feather in the tip of the cap for SBN.

In short, I hope Dave has SOME sway. LOL

by Cablinasian on Jul 5, 2009 12:14 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

that could have possibilities.

Might need to give each person a freebie for introductory purposes, and then you go thru a trial period, where the post is reviewed before posted.
Timmay below mentioned the mechanics of it, I wonder if it’s possible to remove the publish button but still allow a draft to be written, and also if the mods can actually see drafts that are in progress. If so, a post could be written and when finished you just email your favorite mod (anyone but prez) for him to look over the draft, if up to snuff publish button is then enabled – that would be quite simple.

It's human nature

A lot of our crowd is just pessimistic. However ….they say they’re just being realistic. In fact if I start reading a post and they say they’re “just being realistic”, I just stop reading. You also can’t just call them on being pessimistic….that starts being a personal attack, so I just bail

Here is what ESPN said about DeJuan Blair

 Negatives:

  • Not an explosive athlete
  • Bulk really hurts him on the quickness end
  • Poor shooter
  • Pretty raw offensively
  • Conditioning could use a lot of work

June 1 Update Blair wowed a lot of people with his improved physique on the first day of camp. But one GM scolded Blair in the interviews for the way he was jogging up and down the floor the first day. “It does you no good to lose all that weight and still play like you’re fat,” the GM told Blair. Blair took the constructive criticism to heart and raced like a guard through the second day of workouts.
