A Blessing In Disguise
Thank goodness that Toronto overpaid Hedo. While I trust that McMillan and KP could integrate Turkoglu accordingly, and he would have been a good fit running that side pick and roll with GOden and LA, Portland should not shell out a 5 years for him. I think Portland would (and should) sign he him to a 3yr/$30 million contract, but Heydude wants that extra coin guaranteed (although Shawn Marion might be available, and he might take 3yr/$24), Now we are "forced" into letting Boom Boom and Martell develop at the 3, and giving some extra minutes to Rudy.
However, we now need to either sign or trade (or both) for a point guard. Option 1a should be to package Blake and Troutlaw to see if we can pry away Kirk Hinrich from the Bulls. It is just bad luck that Chicago decided not to overpay for Ben Gordon's services, a taste of Kirkland Hinrick would have been great for Portland.
Option 1b would be to sign Andre Miller. I hope that the Blazers would ignore Mike Bibby, as he is a liability on defense, and I don't think he is a good fit. If Miller would accept a 3 yr/20-24 mill deal, It might be the necessary piece. Think about it, his weak 3 pt shooting should be negated by his extra pass to Martell or Rudy or Batum or Brandon, even to Jerryd. We are stacked with efficient marksmen. I think that his d could be underrated, but who knows (It is still better than Bibby D).
Although the older folks don't like to be reminded that 2010 is oh-so-close, we should always look to the future. Specifically, Lebron James. Call me crazy, or more accurately wistful , but maybe, just maybe, we can woo Lebron into our small market and he can accept our lack of Europeanness. I think a bouquet of roses would do seal the deal.
All in all, In KP (and our PA) we trust.

Still don't understand the fascination with Mr. Hinrich
1. He’s a slightly better Blake for over twice the money
2. Is basically untouchable now that Chicago hasn’t resigned Ben Gordon
3. There are better options like a Devin Harris that can be attained with the pieces that we have.

Devin Harris is a pipe dream
and Hinrich’s contract is of little consequence once the Blazers are over the cap (as long as Allen is willing to pay)

Hinrich is a pipe dream but Harris is attainable?
Before the Bulls lost Gordon, they would have been desperate to lose Hinrich’s contract. Why things have changed there, I don’t think that NJ is eager to deal away their best player.

no thanks
I’ll pass on 1a and 1b and hold my expiring contracts and capspace for a deadline deal. KH is a nice player, but he’s a marginal upgrade to Blake at best.
How did you guys win that?

No No No
Outlaw + Blake for Hinrich would be doable in my eyes if Hedo was a Blazer.

Agreed!
He is the key to the off season!
I wrote a fanpost and got slammed last week. Hopefully he’s mad at the Lakers.
Hopefully Blazers management can say, “you want 40-50 mil over 5 years? How bout we give you that over 3?” Lamar would get his money and wed use his last truly effective years and move on to someone new. Then Lamar can retire 2 years early or go out and get MORE money. With those two scenarios in line, it could mean Lamar coming over here.
If The Lakers lose Lamar, suddenly they arent quite as beastly with Artest. Suddenly the Blazers are pretty beastly. We would then be 0-1 move away from champeenship.
"Both Anthony Carter and Jameer Nelson were downright jubilant in the Magic locker room postgame. Carter said to no one in particular, "Brandon Roy, that man is unstoppable, it's like he's playing NBA Live" and Nelson was cracking on his teammates for not being able to guard Brandon. The kinds of jokes you can make when you win."

This would be sad if it were true
Odom can stay in LA.
I hope we can make him an offer to drive up LA’s price, but where would he play? Behind Aldridge? Does that really make any sense? Start him at small forward? Do we really need another small forward?

Yeah he's looking better by the minute. I do'nt think he'd come here though. He likes beaches.

I agree
I’d still rather over pay for Odom than Hedo.
