“The Sacramento Kings re-signed point guard Beno Udrih on Wednesday, keeping Mike Bibby’s successor with a five-year deal.
The $32.323 million contract pleased both Udrih and coach Reggie Theus, who said he made a strong recommendation to top executive Geoff Petrie to keep Udrih."
Ha. HAHA. Oh man, that brings a smile to my face.
I’d say if they had to invest more energy into a player, if for no other reason than to build their trade value, it would be Udrih. He still has 4 years and $27M+ left on his contract.
"Ain't nothin' in this world for free."
I forgot to mention
I still think Tyreke Evans will start, however I think more energy will be put into Udrih as the primary backup.

Its possible Sergio is third fiddle in Sac...
They have made it clear that Udrih is there hopeful PG of the future, and Evans is WAY more solid.
I heart taxes.
Sure hope Sergio can beat Udrih out
But i have a feeling that he might be the 3rd wheel but you never know.
I haven’t payed attention to Udrih since he was on the Spurs. It’s time for Sergio to get some real minutes.
Travis Outlaw fan from the beginning.
Preseason
Hope they don’t hold the preseason games against him … first 2 games are against the Blazers. Kinda hard to show what you can do when the team you’re playing against knows your game.
i'm sure Shav and Ruffin will torch us too
hehe

that would be hard to do
I heard he has a nice menagerie, though
When reached 39 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
Sergio will be third string again.
And he will miss being thirds sting on a WINNING team.
My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.
Has he ever been third string on a winning team?
*Unless KP has a secret plan that makes this statement incorrect.
Okay, second or third string.
My point being, I think he’ll realize that it was better being on the bench on a winning team (The Blazers), than a losing team (Sacramento).

sort of
about mid-season in 2007-2008 Sergo was playing “behind” Blake and Jack, and the Blazers had an above-.500 record (for awhile) after that 13 game winning streak
but if he does wind up playing 3rd fiddle to Evans and Beno…that should be a wake-up call to his NBA career

The real question is where will Sergio be playing in the 2010-2011 season?
This is the last season of his contract. I’ll bet he is back in Spain in 2010-2011.

I hope Sergio gets at least 25 mpg
I really don’t think Tyreke Evans will take any sort of pure PG role. I can see him definitely taking some of Martin’s minutes who always seems injured as well. I was surprised by how big Tyreke Evans plays as well. Maybe we’ll see some three guard lineups in Sacramento. And we all know how disappointing Beno Udrih really was this past season. The opportunity is available for Sergio. He just has to take it now.
The Kings have the best bench I’ve seen. There are easily 14 guys on this team good enough for every bench in the league. Now if we could only get some starters, I’d totally jizz in my pants.
Kings fan
Sergio isn't getting burn
They’re too heavily invested in Udrih and Evans. Sergio cost a 2nd rounder. He’s insurance at this point.
Witty Unpredictable Talent and Natural Game
