Roy's dunk on Samb OFFICIAL NBA DUNK OF THE YEAR!

http://www.nba.com/video/channels/nba_tv/2009/07/30/nba_20090630_top10_dunks.nba/

I watched the whole countdown and was about to go crazy because it wasn't on the list, but then there it was in the #1 slot right where it should be.  Lebron is on there a couple times, along with some other great dunkers, and then there is Brandon, the guy who rarely throws down a highlight worthy dunk, throwing down the official NBA dunk of the year.  I remember watching that game and thinking that the clippers had something coming to them because of a dunk on a previous play.  Roy wasn't having that and wanted to make sure everyone forgot about it, which he did an excellent job of.  I don't even remember which clipper threw one down on us.  I don't think Samb does either.

I get goosebumps just thinking about it.

So Rudy has the #1 international play

And Roy has best dunk?

Blake should get some kind of #1 spot for his 14 assists in the 1st quarter.

Portland is racking up some cool highlights, ey?

While I KNEW Rudy's 5 points in .6 seconds was going to be #1

I was disappointed his behind the back/between the legs dribble didn’t make it… that was one of the most impressive things I saw on the court last year.

Sorry, which one?

The Kings have the best bench I’ve seen. There are easily 14 guys on this team good enough for every bench in the league. Now if we could only get some starters, I’d totally jizz in my pants.

Rudy's play

Maybe the play where he threaded that pass behind his back, between the defenders ahead to Sergio (or whoever it was)? That was a crazy impressive play…

You can't call what he did dunking on LMA in the same game as this Roy dunk.

If Gordon’s dunk was the only one then sure… but not when you compare it to Roy’s. Gordon dunked beside LMA.

I was at Staples for this game

And Gordon’s dunk was indeed nasty. As I recall, it either took the lead for the Clips for the first time in the game or cut it to 1…then Roy’s dunk was so vicious that all the air went out of the building. Seriously, the game was over as soon as it happened – you cannot overstate the change in momentum it caused.

A fairy, on the other hand, is an ethereal being with wings. They are light and whimsical. Homosexual men are also sometimes referred to as “fairies.” Some of them are good at dancing and some of them are oafs.

I actually think it's funny

Mostly because the block really wasn’t all that impressive. Rudy barely even jumped up, mostly out. It wasn’t a crazy athletic block or anything, like some of his others. The fact that the ball smacked Rudy in the face is the only reason it was fun to watch. Even though it hurt.

Thing that made it even more dramatic was that the game was going along ho-hum, then Gordon dunked on us and everyone got really excited. One or two more trips down the court and Roy unleashed that monster. As mellow as he is, he’s got a flare for the dramatic.

lebron's first dunk..

i think it was number 7 where he pulled the ball behind his back was a pretty blatant travel. he picked up and took 3 steps.

the two open court dunks from kobe & wade are boring. what’s so impressive about hotdogging on a fast break with nothing between you and the rim? lame.

lebron’s 2nd dunk was amazing. i can’t believe i’ve never seen that.

It’s only prohibited when the player committing the offense is not one of the league’s “darling” players.

BTW Roy gets away with carrying the ball like a full back about every game and I don’t see anyone on this site whining about that. Hmmm…

Roy's dunk is great but..

this is a terrible top ten. There was another list posted recently that had way more impressive dunks on it. I would put Roy’s either #1 or #2 all season so Im happy to see him there but some of these are just pathetic. That weak 360 all alone by Kobe against the warriors? There were at least three dunks last year by Wade that were better than the lame one on this list including one where he split two defenders then hammer dunks in traffic (I would say this is the other potential number #1 dunk) and that one is not even on this list! Josh Smith also had a crazy breakaway dunk from almost the free throw line where he practically tears the rim off that should be top 5.

Horrible List. Just terrible.

Roy’s dunk is great because of his size, the defender involved, and how emotional this dunk was because it followed a big dunk by Eric Gordon (I think) that kinda showed up the Blazers in that game. Roy’s was a straight up retaliation dunk that told everyone watching that he was going to dominate them. I still have this pic as my PC desktop at work.

Awesome. Ridiculous dunk. All the more great because we don't get to see Roy throw it down like that very often.

The Nate Rob dunk was maybe the best put back dunk I’ve ever seen, Lebron’s crab dribble dunk was pretty sweet, and that D-Wade hangtime dunk was Jornan-eeque. But the Roy dunk was so ferocious, so fierce you could tell the clips were just embarrassed. That dunk really did win that game for us. And the fact that Samb got in the way, probably fouled him, and got knocked over in the process of joining Roy’s poster is the icing on the cake.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
