Let Toronto have Turk, lets get Millsap
I think last year the blazers were at or near the top of the league in offense, do they really need to bring in another SF for a "third scoring option"? I know he is a good player, good passer, can shoot the 3, and hit some big shoots in the clutch. But paying 10 million a year for five years for a player who has 2-3 declining years left is WAY too much to pay. Let Toronto have that deal we have had way more than our fair share of bad contracts, let him go and good luck. Lets go with the players we have at the SF (Webster, Batum,Outlaw and even Rudy and Roy) I think we will be more than fine with that group, give them a chance. Lets use the money and go after Paul Millsap. Right now we have no one to back up LA at PF if he went down the blazers would be in a world of hurt. I think we could get Millsap 20-25 minutes a game with LA playing a few minutes at the center spot. Millsap still has a big upside and he plays a position that we really need at this point. With Webster coming back and hopefully big improvements from Oden and Bayless(who would have been a top 5 pick in this years draft) the skys the limit, but now back to reality and here comes Turkoglu and here we go again.

Fatty, is that you?
Just kidding, Fatty – you probably know Turkoglu is a baller and Roy wants to win a title now and the rest of these guys are soft.
Anyway, my point is, upgrading the starting SF spot (when the Blazers have no real starting caliber for a playoff team SF on the roster) is a much higher priority than signing a back up PF.
Blazer fans perpetually overrate the triumverate of potential at the three spot. Don’t get me wrong, Martell and Nic are promising talents, and Nic played better than anyone could have expected this year. And Trout has a unique skill set that certainly brings value to the table as a scorer off the bench.
But none of these three guys are really legit, starting caliber NBA SFs (at least not for a playoff team) at this stage of their careers. We have three back up small forwards. Signing Turkoglu (a very legit starter and borderline all-star candidate) to upgrade the three spot has a lot more value than paying about the same amount of cash for a back up PF (which is simply not going to happen, anyway, based on the draft).
Q: Is Greg favoring his knee?
Frye: He favors dunking on your head, that's what he favors.

Looks like it's too late. ESPN on TV said the Blazers and Turkoglu and in negotiations right now.
I haven’t found anything online yet. I think we all need to just accept the fact that Hedo is in black and red next year.

I'm good with Pendergraph at the backup 4.

Looks like Millsap will come cheaper than he would like...
no suitors that I have heard and with Toronto looking like they will commit to Marion, Hedo will likely be in a Blazer uniform and our cap space $$$ gone. It appears a backup PF is not KP’s priority. Hedo & Pendergraph will log LA’s backup minutes.
All of a sudden, signing Hedo might have shored-up more needs than we were anticipating. I am not saying that KP won’t make a trade in the coming weeks, but obtaining an upgrade at PG may no longer be a necessity. Don’t be surprised if KP simply trades Outlaw for a future draft pick(s).

How can he do that?
Nobody has cap space to absorb a contract without sending one back in return, other than OKC. I could see them taking Trout for a future late first round pick, I guess, but it’s a serious longshot. Portland’s probably going to be getting something back in return. Trout plus Blake makes a lot of sense as a valuable package to upgrade the point.

Sad Day
If this deal does go through, I will be very disapointed…
The blazers will regret this move within two years. We may win two or three more games this season, and maybe one round in the playoffs. But in the very near future this move will prove to be the set-back that keeps this team from ever competing for the championship.
A very sad day!

Respectfully disagree. Hedo should make Oden better, as evidences last year by his masterful feeding of Howard.
That alone will reap far more rewards than just Hedo’s numbers. All is not doom and gloom my friend.

Props, Planet29
5 days of precognition. Nice going. I for one hope Utah doesn’t match for all the reasons you state.
