Trade Drawer - June 25th
At least it's close enough to June 25th in my time zone. :p
Since signing Andre Miller, I'm sure many of you have come up with Portland's next move. Many of those moves will likely involve Steve Blake or Jerryd Bayless. Put me in the trade Bayless camp at the moment. Not that I think we should trade him just because. That would be mean, cruel, heartless and many other poignant adjectives. But if a trade needs to happen, then Bayless is the odd man out.
Of course, you'll probably also want to include Travis Outlaw. I don't think we need to do that myself. After Blake, Fernandez and Przybilla come off of the bench, Outlaw is not going to have the same role on this team. But I think it's a role he's better suited for. He doesn't have to be the third Option for this team anymore. He doesn't have to be the first option off of the bench. And if that reduced role is what Outlaw gets, I think he'll shine in that role.
So tune your pages to the trade machine of your choice and get to work.

Wait...what exactly happened with the trade exceptions with the Miller deal?
Dictated, not read. The management.

Trade exceptions are only usable if you are over the cap.
That’s why they’re called exceptions. But by going under the cap, you no longer have the need for an exception, so any that you had acquired have to be renounced if you plan on using the space under the cap.
It pretty much sucks. But that’s the way the rules are laid out. Storyteller or one of the other cap guys can probably explain this a lot better than I can.

Simple
Not sure if the Pistons do it. we may have to throw in a draft pick or euro for them to accept and depending on miller’s first year salary, we might also have to renounce koponen and/or freeland to make it possible.

Nah I don't like it.
Trading Outlaw for a PF of that scale seems unnecessary. If we’re handing in Travis, we had better get a Power Forward who can contribute much better than Travis did at the position.

The question is:
are there any players that would be a backup 4 on the blazers that would be worth bayless and travis?

Since I'm a lazy guy, I'll repost my earlier trade idea in this thread.
“Over the next two seasons, Andre Miller could perform similarly to Antonio Daniels circa the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 seasons. As a big, methodical dribble-drive point guard who’s careful with the rock, Miller will bring everything to the table — except for efficiency from downtown — that McMillan expects in a vetreran floor general.
Yet, no matter the signing of Miller, Kevin Pritchard must buck up and admit his ridiculous error in drafting an undersized, me-first gunner in Jerryd Bayless last season. Pritchard, without question, can do that by trading for Kirk Hinrich. As it stands, the following assets should be made available to the Chicago Bulls in any trade discussions regarding Hinrich.
PLAYERS
Steve Blake
Travis Outlaw
Jerryd Bayless
DRAFT RIGHTS
Victor Claver
Joel Freeland
Petteri Koponen
Patty Mills
FUTURE DRAFT PICKS
2010 Second-Round Draft Pick (The More Favorable of Chicago’s Pick Acquired for Ömer Aşık and Portland’s Own Selection)
CASH CONSIDERATIONS
$3,000,000
http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5209082
If Portland can acquire Hinrich for any or all of those assets, the team would have the following roster heading into the 2009-2010 season.
C: Greg Oden (24 to 32 m.p.g.)
C: Joel Przybilla (16 to 24 m.p.g.)
C: Jeff Pendergraph (0 to 8 m.p.g.)
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge (32 to 36 m.p.g.)
PF: Dante Cunningham (12 to 16 m.p.g.)
SF: Nicolas Batum (16 m.p.g.)
SF: Martell Webster (16 m.p.g.)
SG: Brandon Roy (36 m.p.g.)
SF/SG: Rudy Fernandez (24 m.p.g.)
PG: Andre Miller (28 m.p.g.)
SG/PG: Kirk Hinrich (24 m.p.g.)
To fill out the roster, Pritchard should then subsequently sign Ime Udoka as insurance for Martell Webster — whose chronic foot problems still could be a tough situation — as well as another serviceable big (e.g., Sean Marks) for frontline depth."

I know a lot of people believe that the addition of Andre Miller means the end of any Kirk Hinrich possibilities, but that’s certainly not my mindset. On the contrary, I think that the combination of Miller and Hinrich would be golden here.
Stupid people have stupid ideas.
