i like him because he used 'front loaded' instead of 'toxic'

"There are a few teams you have to watch out for in the fourth quarter."
"Yeah, but Portland definitely is not one of them."

-New Orleans Hornets broadcasters at the end of the third quarter with the Hornets leading 74-59. Portland later ends up winning 97-89.

"They don't mind him shooting that shot at all. Rudy Fernandez is not that great of a 3pt shooter."

-New Orleans Hornets broadcasters right after a Rudy Fernandez missed 3pter. Rudy Fernandez finished the game with three 3pters on six attempts.

What is wrong with this guy?

I thought the Blazers were complete failures.

Very insightful article

I hope he writes a followup about how the Trojans should still have a good college football team this year.

Sarcasm noted

But in an age where most people seem to think that if you’re not getting better via trades/free agency, you’re getting worse, this is a refreshing reminder that organic growth isn’t all that bad.

by Arby on Jul 22, 2009 11:33 AM PDT up reply actions

Well our team is unusual

Usually a team DOES need to get better via free agency. I mean, you’ll have 1-2 guys who are young and should improve, but not a huge amount.

Our team is unique in that we have 7-8 of our main guys who aren’t at or past their prime. This means we should have more growth than any other team that does nothing.

I see the frustration of some people, but we’re not in bad shape if we do nothing.

Yeah, I think the only real reason we are frustrated is because:

We have roster space.

&

We have cap space.

We might as well use them on SOMETHING unless Mr. Allen feels we’re enjoying a bit too much of his money.

Yeah, our team is so far beyond expectations at this point that it would be absurd to complain, but every little improvement can help a lot in the long run.

the first team in league history to win 50 while playing four rookies at least 50 games

Never heard that stated explicitly before. Nice.

Dictated, not read. The management.

We cheated and held 2 rookies back though

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
