Spears: Bayless Out of Team USA Minicamp
Who would have guessed that Greg Oden would be the last Blazer standing?
In June, 4 Portland Trail Blazers accepted invitations to this week's Team USA minicamp in Las Vegas. The minicamp is essentially an invitation-only open tryout for the few open roster spots on the United States Men's National Team.
First, Brandon Roy and then LaMarcus Aldridge were scratched last week.
This afternoon, Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Jerryd Bayless will not participate in this week's camp due to a sprained left wrist he suffered in Saturday's Summer League game against the San Antonio Spurs. The injury also kept him out of Sunday's Summer League against the D-League Select squad.
Spears further reports that Washington Wizard center JaVale McGee is set to take Bayless's place.
While Team USA officials were clearly disappointed by this turn of events, they assured reporters that the 7 foot McGee should have no problem putting up a comparable number of turnovers when he runs the point.

do you have the power to undelete a thread that has been deleted?
or is that beyond the realm of SN’s software capabilities? Just wondering.

there’s a hide option and a delete option. hidden posts go invisible but can be restored. deleted posts go hidden and cannot be restored (that i know of)

DrexlerRules/TiR/BaB deleted it. He created it so he can delete it
He’s done it before when he’s feeling the heat.

Rex just backed down?
I didn’t think he was capable of backing down.
Epic Fail, Rex… Epic Fail…

Stick to Greg like a limpet. Well, maybe not.
I do hope you can give us something like you did with Rudy, Sergio and Nic, however. That would be fantastic.

we want video!
even if it’s through a peephole with a pixel-challenged camera…
When reached 39 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
wow bummer
that means even less Blazers news—Let hope Greg goes so we can atleast have 1 player to hear some news about.

More reasons Bayless isn't our PG of the future
He gets injured and they replace him with a center? ;-)

Trade for Gerald Wallace!!
I thought it was a dumb cheap shot myself
If Ben keeps this up, I’ll have to become a Bayless fan.
Hello: this is a natural scorer trying his utmost to do whatever his coaches ask of him. As a result, he racks up a bunch of turnovers. In Summer League. What a jerk: let’s bash the kid.

Umm...
You do know that Ben is a huge Bayless fan right? He was poking fun at Bayless for Summer League stats! Ooooh noes!
Los Angeles Lakers 2009-2010 Western Conference Chumps
Besides, Bayless got smart!
2008: SMASH SUMMER LEAGUE… PLAY BAD IN NBA
2009: TURNOVERS IN SUMMER LEAGUE… ASSISTS IN NBA!!
Los Angeles Lakers 2009-2010 Western Conference Chumps
OK, I just found it annoying
Bayless is taking enough actual abuse for trying to do what he was asked. He could have scored 30 ppg again and gotten mainly heaps of praise.
I was impressed, at the start of Summer League, when Bayless said that scoring 30ppg and being Summer League MVP last season had been the worst thing that could have happened. This time, he resisted the temptation to light it up and help his team win games. That had to go against the grain.
I’m not saying I’m sold on Bayless. I just believe in credit where credit is due.

I didn't think it was THAT inappropriate

"Who would have guessed that Greg Oden would be the last Blazer standing?"
Terrible. Just terrible. shakes head
Seriously Ben
I was laughing my butt off at work this morning when I read that line. Wonderful, purely wonderful.
Cold Ben - very cold!

and funny
particularly because Ben is a Bayless lover.
"Fernandez, to my eyes, is the Blazer who walks that walk most comfortably. A lot of Portland's fans (egged on, dare I say, by their local broadcasters) lament things like how Ron Artest or Yao Ming get to hit Brandon Roy's arms.
But I suspect Fernandez sees all that and thinks: We get to hit arms! Cool!"

Greg is too lazy to even back out of minicamp!!!
The cowards never started
The weak died along the way
Only the strong survived
They were the Trailblazers
lol
wow. just wow. Guy can’t catch a break can he? :)
"HA HA HA HA HA
I'm not laughing, I'm just listing the five ugliest Blazers ever."

we're covering all angle of critiscm here.
Just watch, when we win a championship it’ll be “man, we should have blown them away by more. WTF!”

I remember when Jerryd came back to the bench
on Saturday night holding his wrist. You could see that there was something wrong with it. He went back into the game and played more, but by the end, the trainers had wrapped it in ice. I turned to my friend sitting next to me and commented that I hoped his injury wasn’t too severe.
Too bad he won’t be playing this weekend – I know that he would have enjoyed the challenge, just as he did last summer playing in a similar environment against the Olympic Team after Summer League had concluded. But I’m glad he’s being conservative and not ‘pushing it’.

For a second there I thought I was reading The Onion. That wickedly smartazz comment just made my day.

KP's best move this summer:
convincing Bayless to drop out of Team USA minicamp giving Greg the opportunity to matchup against JaVale McGee…
here's to hoping Oden doesn't get hurt
the question is.. do you want Oden to play, to represent the Blazers… or to not play because of risk of injury?
I personally believe, due to his lost rookie year, any added time on-court with other great players is a boon that should be taken advantage of.
"The problem actually is that PER is a extra-long, double high wagon load of horse crap." - timbo (7/3/09)
Fans should stop thinking like that
It’s like walking getting into your car and hoping you don’t get into an accident.
If you fall I will catch you
I'll be waiting
I don't think Greg will get hurt anymore
Lately he has been in the business of retiring other people.
Greg did NOT cause Mutumbo's injury.
He just happened to be in the area when Deke landed wrong and blew his knee apart…
It’s coincidence… Yeah, that’s it…
Blazers win!

Bayless
will be ready for regular season tip-off with a meaner game face. He’d be plenty ticked off with Summer League and missing out on Team USA scrimmages. I just hope he’ll get back to his natural penetration game, eases up on the silly hand checks and finally finds his shot again. All this “not a natural PG” garbage is making me sick… clearly we don’t need one otherwise we would have kept Sergio or drafted Lawson.

Bayless should play anyway.
Frankly, he needs the experience and playing with OTHER players can showcase tricks that you can pick up. I really don’t like our players pulling out FOR this reason. No those guys aren’t elite, but the opportunity to learn something new should always be taken up.
