every one loves ramon

i think we go after ramon sessions

Star-divide

maybe go  to the bucks and work out a sign and trade with them or force their hand to make a deal by offering a deal with sessions. thge bucks are 12 mill over the cap as of right now so a offer sheet to sessions for 8 mill a year for 4 years might get it done.

im not sure why hes name has not been flotting around a lot here but hes a good fit and young

His biggest problem is outside shooting....

Can’t spread the floor for Roy, and KP loves shooters. I imagine that’s why there isn’t much love out of ptown, even if he is a dang good young player….

He shot above 40% in his last year in college and in his first NBA season from downtown. On limited attempts. It’s true that he needs work to stabilize his shot, but it’s not like he mechanically can’t shoot. And KP often says shooting is a skill that can be improved in young players. And he is the best young PG free agent out there. Already a great backup with the potential to be much much more.

I can see why the Blazers would prefer a veteran and that the Bucks will try to match, but I will be seriously pissed if he goes to the Knicks for nothing but the MLE or even less because nobody else tried to get him. (A contract to Session can’t start at more than the MLE due to the Arenas provision, but it can go up in following years and that’s where the Bucks would have to prove their intention to keep him.)

Call me crazy...

but I get the feeling KP already has a scenario worked out to get a PG. Ramon has huge upside, but I can’t imagine a better fit or a more tangible asset (in terms of wins) than Kirk Hinrich.

If he likes Bayless as much as we all think he does and he knows he can land Kirk then going after a younger PG doesn’t really make much sense.

Just a theory, but if you can land a PG through a trade that you like then getting one through free agency doesn’t make any sense. It would be better to use the cap space to address another need.

Not sure we have a PG move coming

My understanding was that if we signed Milsap, the next move was a trade of Outlaw to Memphis for some sort of draft pick. If that is true hard to imagine we have some PG trade in the hopper. I doubt we are sending Blake somewhere for another PG straight up.

I think the only PG move we will see will be someone filling in the 3rd slot.

3rd slot = Bayless please

We need someone to fill the first or second slot.

Posted this in another thread, but it fits here as well.
Meh.
We overlook Sessions weaknesses because he’s not ours. We’d hate him by the end of the year if we did get him. The stuff he does well he does well, the stuff he’s poor at, he’s really poor at. Travis Outlaw Syndrome (previously known as Jarrett Jack Syndrome) would take over quickly with this guy. Milwaukee hasn’t even made him a priority yet, which was supposed to be what moving Jefferson would do for him. Yet they’ve spent that savings elsewhere. They may not have enough left to keep him around if anyone makes him a half way decent offer.

And having lived in a suburb of Milwaukee for the last year, the locals are pretty much "meh" on him right now as well. Even before Jennings was drafted. That’s not a good thing to say about your best point guard. When plusses and minuses are totalled out, I’m not sure that Sessions beats out Blake right now. Certainly not in Portland’s system. Although, If the intention is to replace Bayless with him, you might be able to make an argument in my book.

I don't really see how you can compare Outlaw or Jarrett Jack to Sessions.

Outlaw and Jack are players who only score and generally are inefficient at even doing that. Sessions does much more than just score. He initiates offense with a great assist-turnover ratio. He also is a great rebounder and gets a great amount of steals at the defensive end. Not to mention the amount of fouls and free throws he draws. In fact, he seems like the opposite player type from Outlaw and Jack; he does all the little things well but doesn’t score in a really high volume. Personally, I think Sessions would be a great upgrade at the PG position who’s only going to get better as the years go on.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.—Dune

Style of play isn't my comparison point.

It’s the fact that he has weaknesses in his game. Pretty big ones. Not being able to shoot the three is a pretty big one in Portland’s offense. Sure, he can get steals, but that doesn’t make a good defender. Luke Ridnour was starting over him for much of the season, because Ridnour played better team defense. Luke Ridnour makes Blake look passable out there on defense. Sure Sessions does a lot of stuff well, but so did Jack, so does Outlaw. Fans will hate him in no time. Might as well save the money and have Bayless start. They’re practically the same player. Sessions is a little better, but we already have Bayless.

As far as your argument that Sessions does little things well, I actually have the opposite reaction. I think the things he does well have stats kept for them. He’s certainly not Zack Randolph bad, but I think his perceived value comes from the same places as Zack’s do. But his ability to do little things has kept him on the bench in tight situations. In close games, Sessions wasn’t out there, because he didn’t do the little things.

Sessions isn’t bad. Sessions would make a great backup point guard. Maybe even a starting PG on a bad team. But he’s not nearly as wonderful as he’s being painted. If he were, the Bucks would have already locked him up for a long while, and found a way to deal with the luxury tax later. If he were, someone would have made an MLE offer to him by now.

Like I said, If he’s a replacement for Bayless, I’ve got no problems. If he starts, then I think we’re in a lot worse shape than anyone thought.

Like Utah with Millsap, the Bucks are waiting for another team to set the price for Sessions. They want to pay as little as possible because of their financial troubles, not because they aren’t interested in Sessions. Otherwise they wouldn’t have replaced Villanueva with Ilyasova.

Three's a crowd
Ramon Sessions’ agent, Jimmy Wells, says they are close to a deal. “We’re getting close with three teams” LAC and Knicks r 2 of the teams

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
