Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

I have discovered something grave... David Stern is sexist...

Behold...

What's the slogan for the NBA?

"Where amazing happens."

It's definitive and declarative. And emphatic. The WNBA?

"Expect great."

Not amazing, great. We can't guarantee it'll happen, just expect it to happen. The motto scream mediocrity and inferiority.

"Expect the women to be great. Really. You won't be disappointed again... please expect it..."

Compared to:

"See this? This is the N-B-A son. *THIS* is where amazing happens."

Conspiracy? I think so...

Stern has been Pritch-slapping Portland's championship hopes

long before Kevin came along and made the phrase fashionable

Every time I hear about the WNBA, I'm amazed.

I’m amazed that it still exists and wonder how that has been accomplished.

Let's go Portland Fire!!!

wait..

"There are a few teams you have to watch out for in the fourth quarter."
"Yeah, but Portland definitely is not one of them."

-New Orleans Hornets broadcasters at the end of the third quarter with the Hornets leading 74-59. Portland later ends up winning 97-89.

"They don't mind him shooting that shot at all. Rudy Fernandez is not that great of a 3pt shooter."

-New Orleans Hornets broadcasters right after a Rudy Fernandez missed 3pter. Rudy Fernandez finished the game with three 3pters on six attempts.

I remember I was going to go watch one of their games once.

But decided to play mario kart instead. This was during their first year.

I thought it was funny during the NBA Finals, they played a WNBA commercial and near the end of it, the announcer says “It doesn’t get any better than this!!!!!” …. during the NBA Finals.

As in:

women’s professional basketball doesn’t get any better than this. Even though I’m sure there are some Euro teams who could kick some WNBA rear (most of ’em are hard to miss).

"The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over."

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
