What part of "have to" do you not understand?
It’s a hypothetical.

After much thought
1. Harris
2. Hinrich
3. Sessions
3. Kidd
4. Blake
5. who cares
Keep in mind that everything I know about basketball I learned on Blazers Edge.

Hopefully the universe of choices is larger than those two guys
But Miller can penetrate off the dribble, and Blake cannot.
What KP does will determine whether he thinks he needs that skill from his PG.
At this point in free agency, the key part of that phrase is “agent”. The agents are driving all the rumors, don’t believe a word until there are signed contracts in hand.

Cannot make an intelligent choice...
based on just the numbers and information given. You need to know more about each player. First of all, what is their size, speed and injury history? Next, what teams they played for and how successful are their respective teams, i.e. are they “winners” and come from a winning culture? Also, who were their teammates and do they make their teammates better? Also, what is their respective style of play and respective roles on their teams? What kind of defense do they play?
You really need to know who the players are, even though that obviously brings in a lot of bias and other subjective factors. Obviously you are trying to make this a purely objective analysis, but unfortunately that is just not possible.

How much will Blake cost in 10-11, how many yrs will he want
True – he won’t be a $10M player – but the drumbeat of him being great because he’s a bargain is getting old. If he’s playing as well as a $8M player he’ll want a $8M contract. I’d rather take the slightly younger, slightly better version of Blake who happens to have a contract that expires the same years as Bayless’. I’m speaking of Hinrich, of course!

If you're going to be completely misleading in a post
at least make sure the misleading facts you provide are accurate.
Player A is 28, Player B is 34.
Blake is 29, Miller is 33.
Blake is between 3 and 4 years younger than Miller, not 6.

If they are the same age...
I’d still rather stick with Blake than have Miller…

It's all about PERspective.
Career PER:
Player A: 12.1
Player B: 18.0
2009 PER:
Player A: 14.5
Player B: 18.6
It’s easy to sell something when you only talk about it’s positives.

if we get hedo, i think a free agent point guard is out of the question
batum, hedo, martell, and outlaw all play small forward. trade two of those for a good point guard

Nash is never gonna be happy playing Blake's role on this team
He’s a floor general, not a camp-at-the-arc spot-up shooter. He needs the ball in a free-flowing offense to really succeed.
Also, his defense is atrocious.

Of the two
we take Hedo. Can you see him at the point, Rudy at the 2 guard and Brandon at the 3? Well, Steve Blake is gonna have trouble cracking that lineup. And if Ariza comes on board then watch out for the ArizaWebsterBatumOutlaw combination coming off the bench. That will definitely fill the holes. Did you see “Holes?”

You make a fair enough point, JL
From the stats you’re throwing out there Blake beats A.Miller – but we all know there’s more to player value than stats, and stats can be tweaked to make whatever point you want.
Me, I still believe we need an upgrade at PG. I’d like to see Blake & Travis packaged for a player like Devin Harris or Jose Calderon – if I’m not mistaken the salaries add up on both those guys (or are at least in the ballpark), and if we still have some of those trade exceptions from the Diogu for Ruffin and Sergio for the rights to Pendergraph, we could probably eat the difference.
Both the Raptors and Nets likely wanna rebuild, and while I think it would be tough to pry D.Harris away (especially if they want to convince LBJ to sign), they have to like the salary flexibility they’d be getting with Outlaw and Blake (who’s contracts expire right when they’d be making the LBJ run).

No Mention
of player styles? Penetration vs. hanging out on the 3 point line. Seems at least worth bringing up.
