Summer League Open Thread Blazers vs. D-League Select, Game 5

The Blazers final Summer League game of 2009 against the D-League Select team tips tonight at 7PM Pacific. The game will not be televised by Comcast but can be heard on 95.5 The Game or watched streaming online. I'll be flying home during the game so there will not be a game recap. Apologies.

Waiting for the game to tip? Check out yesterday's game recap and this brief chat with Blazers Assistant Coach Monty Williams.

The Kings have the best bench I’ve seen. There are easily 14 guys on this team good enough for every bench in the league. Now if we could only get some starters, I’d totally jizz in my pants.

Dante Cunningham has neither the ball-handling nor the passing prowess to be too effective in the ...

triangle offense. As much flack as Luke Walton receives from some folks, he’s not an altogether bad fit at the backup small forward position in that system.

Oh, and apropos of advanced statistical metrics, I suggest you check out this link.

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/statistics?sort=asr&pos=sf&seasonType=2&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fnba%2fhollinger%2fstatistics%3fsort%3dasr%26pos%3dsf%26seasonType%3d2

See, there’s a tangible reason that Luke Walton fits within the triangle offense better than many fellow small forwards.

6 turnovers a game is flat out pathetic...

Especially when its not even legit nba competition. Get over him. Rex will get better, but right now he sucks at anything besides lowering his head and attacking the hoop. Luckily for him, thats a bankable nba skill and he has it in spades…

i don't agree

Steve Nash, Terry Porter, Drexler, Dwayne Wade, are a few elite guards that have a lot of turnovers, some seasons more than others, it’s not unheard of.

Many people have mentioned bayless as analogous to chauncey billups, in size and ablility, who also took seasons to grow into the player he is now, not unheard of the expect vast improvement. Bayless was effective last season when nate used him situationally (like in the Nets game, a few others). You have to give 20 year olds a chance.

Steve Nash actually gets assists...

So did Porter. Wade and Drexler aren’t even point guards. Even still I doubt any of them ever averaged anywhere near 6 TO’s per game. Not even the much maligned Sergio Rodriguez can compete with that total…

That would make sense...

if only Bayless was a playmaker. I think the term gunner fits him much better. I also don’t give much credence to summer league, but over 6topg? Really? Against mostly non nba competition? Than he has the gall to blame his teammates for his turnovers. Sorry, but Bayless is just rubbing me the wrong way. Feel free to agree to disagree…
