CP3 insists he could be traded & amnesty in the NBA
"New Orleans star point guard Chris Paul insisted he was serious when he said there's a chance he soon could be traded."
"It's possible the NBA could end up bringing back the amnesty rule that resulted in teams saving millions of dollars in luxury tax during the summer of 2005.
When the NBA reached an agreement on its current collective bargaining agreement (CBA) that summer, teams were allowed a one-time opportunity to waive one player and not have to pay any luxury tax on him. The player, though, got the full amount remaining on his contract, and that counted against the salary cap."

Chris Paul won’t be traded. It would devalue the franchise, and Shinn won’t let that happen.
life is better as an optimist
let me expand. Paul is a great kid, one of the greatest point guards ever at a young age, and an all-time favorite of mine. I would give a ridiculous deal to New Orleans to have him…. it’s just not happening. If they have to cut talent, it’s more likely that David West will be leaving.

West?
With Paul he’s an All-Star. Without he’s basically a serviceable starter for most teams.
I think he’;d be hard to unload, I’m not sure of his contract though.
he has a sweetheart deal
he is like 9mil a year, which is pretty good for a 2 time all star. I get that CP3 makes him look good, but he is very skilled in his own right.
Life is exhausting when you are this stupid.
I will talk about DeJuan Blair no more forever
thats what I thought you meant.
we still agree :)

The chances are increasing that he moves
It’s probably safe to say he won’t, but your reason for him not to leave would be the EXACT reason for him to leave. It just depends on how your looking at that devaluation. Sometimes you have to shed a little weight to move around.
Odds are heavily in your favor, but it’s not an absolute.
I'm a really really ridiculously good looking orange mocha frappaccino drinking manhammer sandwich
Even if he was on the trading block
Would you be willing to give up Oden??
OK yeah I would to..
Roy for Paul makes the most sense, basketball-wise.

I might be a homer but...
I really don’t think CP is that much better than B-Roy. Obviously CP is better defender and assist man. Roy is just as good at scoring and I think he’s a better locker room leader.
either way CP isn’t coming to Portland
lol well he is coming
just not to stay (read the tweet below)

I think I would trade anyone
the only reason I would consider Roy is because we have Rudy…
I have to think about it a little more though.

No need to trade Roy
The only way he moves is for cap relief. They’re not going to try to turn him into more talent. That’d be kind of silly. So….. Roy’s not exactly our most cap relieving player.

Uh... that's IF it were to happen.

I agree
I was just saying that player for player I would trade anyone on the team probably. it won’t happen anyways

I'd trade Roy for Paul straight up...if the numbers work
What this does is frees up Rudy to start and it turns LMA into an All-Star player.
Paul/Blake
Rudy/Bayless
Webster/Batum/Outlaw
LMA/Outlaw/Pendergraph
Oden/Pryzbilla
I think that Paul and Bayless would be awesome on the court together too.
Red Hot and Rolling
I'd be willing to give up Webster for him

I might even be willing to throw in the rights to Michael Ruffin.
Just to put it over the top.
Yes! Yes! In the face!
I'm not sure I'm willing to mortgage the Blazers future with that move
Can’t we just use a trade exception?
by tominhawaii on Jul 17, 2009 10:05 AM PDT up reply actions
I don't think we need to do anything.
Just let New Orleans renounce him and we can give him a contract for the veteran’s minimum.
μὴ φοβοῦ, μόνον πίστευε.
CP3 is indeed at Nike and not meeting with Blazer execs
At least his following tweets are all mentioning Nike campus and the like
Rooo-D!
everybody
message cp3 and tell him portland loves him

Only way we could get paul in cash strapped hornets world..
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=lgptlp
Portland
give:outlaw,blake
recieve:chris paul
Oklahoma
give:watkins,wilkins,sefolosha,atkins
recieve:chandler,posey
New Orleans
give:Chandler,posey,paul
recieve:outlaw,blake,watson,wilkins,sefolosa,atkins
Why Portland does it: Chris paul
Why Oklahoma does it:Bench players for Chanler and Posey, starting linup becomes westbrook, harden, durant, green, chandler with posey as sixth man.
Why New Orleans does it: give out 31.7million in contracts that expire in two or three years for 23.6million in expiring contracts. Instantly save 8million and once the season is up they free up 23.6 million off the books.
by philthebballplayer on Jul 17, 2009 11:10 AM PDT reply actions
Then use that 23.6 million to buy about 8 first round picks
And create a rookie All-Star team!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Princess of Blazersedge
i think we would have to through in at least rudy
along with every draft pick possible

When you wish upon a star. You may as well go to the bar.
Cause my friend you must be drunk to think thats true!
He did it! Yes he did!
I'll throw in free car washes by hand for life
For KP if he pulled that deal out of his bag……rediculous, right?
Sorry: All your CP3 are belong to New Orleans
"In this league, anything can happen," Paul told Pro Basketball News. "I can be dealt. It’s possible. It’s possible."
In response Friday, Hornets President Hugh Weber said the possibility of them trading Paul is zero.
"There is no chance of him getting traded," Weber said sternly. "I don’t know how to say it any stronger, but there is just no deal we would contemplate for Chris. I can’t speak for Chris, but I think he was talking about the nature of the business and the fact that the question was asked the way it was."
Hornets General Manager Jeff Bower said from Las Vegas Friday morning he is investigating many things in regard to free agency and possible trades to improve the roster, but he said trading Paul would not meet any of those objectives.
"I have not nor will I enter any discussions for him," Bower said. "(Trading Paul) is not going to happen. I think what Chris said just shows his selflessness that he’s not different than anyone else on the team."
