What IS in Brandon Roy's new contract?
I'm wondering what is taking so long. Why hasn't Brandon Roy our All-Star Guard been signed to a maximum contract that he deserves?
This article kind of got me thinking... http://tinyurl.com/lcbdgx
This outlines some of the ridiculous incentives players have in their contract if they hit certain goals. Example, if Luke Ridnour wins defensive player of the year he gets an extra 1.5 million. If Adonal Foyle wins MVP he gets an extra $500,000. And the list goes on.
Check out the story and comment below what you would stick in B-Roy or LA's contract for their incentives.

I don't get what the deal is.
B-Roy should just fire his agent and work the dela himself… it would give both parties a ton more flexibility. It is like buying a house. Contact the seller directly and you can take 5% off the top right there.
Soooo true
Roy is an educated man, he could work something out with the team on his own. The only problem is an agent is nice for things like keeping away beggars and finding endorsement deals.

I'd give Roy a bonus for every top free agent he recruited for the Blazers

10% off Oden jerseys... that is it...
I get the feeling the Blazers made way to many Oden jerseys anyway because they were practically giving them away at Joes.
+1
That is awesome. 2 million more per year for each top free agent signed?
I miss Martell. Come back soon!
These are great
Keep em comin.
What about free bag of cotton candy for every dunk? Or would that be in Lamar Odom’s deal?
Only 4 months and 82 games away from the playoffs!
they shold put a lot of incentives on LMA contract
like being in an All NBA team would give him 1.5 mill more, All star 500 thou more..
i hope LMA doesn't turn into a stat bo
incentives are great, but i wonder how teams structure these incentives so that the players don’t just look out for themselves and their stats. one of the best qualities of this team is how unselfish they are. i would hate it if that ended bc everyone was trying to meet their quotas for incentives.

I think this isn't a knock on B Roy
but the Front office is posturing and setting the tone for the other players on our team. If the brass doesn’t put up a fight with B Roy, and puts up a hard fight with LMA and Greg…they might feel a little less important. However now that they gave Brandon some resistance, I would imagine they give in to his demands, but are in a better position to play hardball with the others. I think of it as political posturing.

I agree with your assertion...
… that this is all posturing. Further, I think that they can only pull this move with BRoy. The reason I say this is because he is the only player that I can think of that is mature enough to handle this kind of power-play with out gettting disenfranchised with the team. BRoy is not stupid. For all we know, Brandon could’ve orchestrated this whole thing, knowing this kind of negotiation can increase the team’s ablility to play hard ball at the negltiating table in the future. Which, in turn, improves the product on and off the court
