Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

"The Spurs also wanted to see how Blair's knees responded to his first summer league game, before he played a second."-mysanantonio.com

That's totally normal right?

The official reason given...

was that the Spurs “wanted to give a longer look to other big men, such as Ian Mahinmi and James Gist.”

That’s pretty hard to believe though, considering the Spurs owner flew out to watch Blair play.

"I wanted to see DeJuan Blair play," Holt said from the bleachers at the Cox Pavilion on Tuesday.

It turns out Holt will have to wait to see his prized rookie in action. Blair did not play in Tuesday’s 78-76 summer-league victory over Denver, the only game Holt would be in town to see.

before we make a mountain out of molehill,

realize that we are talking about the spurs. The team that strategically rests players, even at the expense of throwing games, just so that they will be fresh for the playoffs.

That's true.

Still… the Spurs tend to rest their older veterans. Blair is a 20 year old who played 23 minutes a few days ago, which is not exactly rest worthy under normal circumstances.

I'm sure they are resting Blair in summer league

so he’ll be fresh for the playoffs.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
