Lakers pull offer to Odom - he's now hoping for the midlevel...
Now is the time when you wish the Blazers had that cap space available. Love him or not, Odom is the best, most versatile player on the market, and now he's negotiating for a deal at the midlevel.
Would be a shame if he signs a deal before the Jazz inevitably match Portland's offer on Friday.
I'd rather have Millsap, because he's more fun to watch and root for, but Odom probably does more to help the team. He is the pefect 3/4 combo forward to bring off the bench in Outlaw's role. He is better than Turk and available at a fraction of the price.
If he's still available Friday, and the Blazers don't explore this option, I will be mystified...

I've been over at SS&L
they talk about a sign and trade of some sort. Dallas (from The Cube himself) is interested; Miami as well. They talk about Portland as a partner in this, but note that Dallas may not have anything we want (at least that Dallas would trade)

It would seem kind of silly for Odom's agent
not to wait until Saturday to chat with Portland, assuming Utah matches the Millsap offer
From what I read the L*kers offered 36mil for 4 years…could Portland beat that deal with a 5 year offer starting at 7.7mil? And would Lamar come to Portland even if they were the only team who offered him 5 years?
I know that a lot of Blazer fans feel strongly against LO as a character, and some question his work ethic and how his game would mesh with Nate’s offense, but I can’t help but hearken back to an interview I read following the team USA workouts in ‘07 where McMillian said he was impressed with Odom. I think there still could be some mutual interest, there. Even though Lamar and Portland may have not been each other’s “first” choice, they may be only partners remaining at “last call” in the 2009 FA lounge

36 mil over 4 years is quite a bit over the MLE isn't it?
I thought the MLE would be like 24 mil over 4 years.

lakers second unit with no Odom
Shannon Brown, Sahsa Vuabitch, Luke Walton, Josh Powell and Sloth(dj mbenga). Please dear god let this happen
No one in the world can beat me at RBI baseball 3(nes).
They could probably still get someone like Ben Wallace, Big Baby, etc.
Still…. That doesn’t look great.

They will have no money to pursue a free agent.
There only choice is sign Lamar, a sign and trade, or let him walk.

The offer to Lamar being pulled...
is a bargaining tactic. There is no way Lamar is signing for the MLE and if he does not return to the Lakers it will be because of a sign and trade.
Wherever I go, that's where I am.
This is just bargaining
I could see the Blazers giving LO an offer and being used by him to get a better price out of the L*kers if Millsap doesn’t happen. I don’t think he’d come to Portland.
Bucher's tweet
Ric said he thinks the Odom decision will be made in the next 24 hours, either Lamar will resign with L*A or that bridge will be burned
stay tuned

I’m rooting for him to get angry and sign with Miami at the MLE.

You don't think having another player who hates the Lakers on our Roster
can be very beneficial.

I would want one
who would channel that hatred into productivity on the court instead of stupidity off the bench and in timeouts.

That fills a need for the Blazers, doesn't it?
Currently, we’re one of the very best teams out of time-outs. Maybe this could help bring us back to the league average by having the opponent shoot technicals after at least two timeouts per game. Plus, he can tell us what the opposing team talked about in their huddle on his way out.

Never thought about that
