I can’t say enough how much better his show is. No B.S. Says what’s up for real and leaves it at that. No crazy speculation. He just states the facts as they are and that is that. Where as Quick and Canzano try to figure out why Egyptians builtpPyramids based on a rumor.
I'm curious as to what he'll have to say.
Hopefully it’s just something politically correct about hoping to amicably come to an agreement with the Blazers as soon as possible, blah blah.
I swear, if he says he’s not going to sign an extension and opt for free agency, I’ll be so pissed.
The one positive is that Brandon Roy would be a RFA next off-season and the Portland Trail Blazers ...
would possess the right of first refusal by being allowed to match any offer sheet that’s presented to him.
If nothing else, that isn’t too shabby of a fallback plan.
Stupid people have stupid ideas.
plus, Roy is likely to not sign an offer sheet next summer. Portland can offer him more money.

but if they won't...
signing a max offer sheet forces them to give him closer to what he wants. While obviously a max offer from another club won’t have the yearly raises he could get from Portland, the yearly salary totals could be what he’s after. This could force Portland’s hand.

Portland isn’t negotiating about yearly salary, they’re haggling about length. I think Roy would rather stick it out and try to negotiate with Portland for the length he wants than sign a long-term deal for less money.

of course...
the key is.. nobody is going to offer Roy a max contract offer sheet knowing that Portland has the willingness to match… especially not in the first days of the free agent frenzy. On the other hand, someone might try after that if they miss out completely on the bonanza (like New York, maybe, in a desperate attempt to get somebody… anybody??)

If Brandon Roy goes into the 2010 off-season as a RFA, the most seasons another team ...
could give him in an offer sheet is five years; though, the Portland Trail Blazers could give him a contract that’s six seasons in length. Thus, it isn’t just the annual raises of 10.5% versus 8% that matters, but also the length of such a contract.
Stupid people have stupid ideas.
Memphis would probably give him a one-year offer just to screw us.
He signs it and we would have to match it to keep him, and then he becomes an UFA the following year. Correct?

An offer sheet to a RFA must be for at least two seasons -- not including option years -- plus, ...
Brandon Roy would never agree to a two-year, maximum-level contract from another ballclub with a raise of just 8% from year one to year two due to long-term financial concerns.
Stupid people have stupid ideas.
Thanks
I didn’t realize an RFA offer had to be two years – which is good to know. I was just being sarcastic because Memphis seems to enjoy causing us problems. I fully agree BRoy wouldn’t sign a short term deal for fear of a career ending injury.

why be mad?
give him a break. He’s got to do what’s best for him as well.
Besides, I doubt everyone in Cleveland and Miami are that made at Lebron or Wade because they haven’t signed an extension yet. They are practically falling over each other telling the players how much they love them in an attempt to keep them to stay.

So embarrasing for Roy
that he’s getting more national press for his contract negotiations and whether he’s worth max money than his play the whole time he’s been in portland. Just sign him this is getting embarrasing and im sure its going to leave a bad taste in his mouth.
Awww poor Roy
He’s having to go through contract negotiations like every other NBA playre in history. I will hold the Kleenex for him.

Why is this even a big deal? Everyone that has been following the Blazers these past couple years know
by now that he is getting the max deal along with Aldridge. I’m almost 100% sure KP has told them both he just wants to get all his free agency business done before resigning them to max contracts.
