Disclaimer: First, if this idea has been brought up recently i am sorry. This is a thought i had and not a rumor or something i even want to happen.
So lets say we actually beat the odds and sign Milsap to the offer sheet and Utah doesnt match. He becomes a 16pt 10reb guy if he can play 35 mins/gm. His salary is well documented in Ben's last post. Lets look at LMA, he is flat out becoming a stud but he has areas of significant improvement needed. Now let me just say i dont think Millsap is perfect and can't improve in certain areas(his jumper?) but LMAs current skill set is more finesse than anything. Millsap is a power player, they could probly not be more different players. The reason i bring these things up is that all off season KP has preached toughness, toughness, toughness and millsap is surely that.
Having said all of that my thought was this: "what if K.P. is after Millsap to replace LMA, then what if K.P. has a trade in place for Devin Harris in which LMA is the center piece?" Something like this for example: D. Harris- J. Boone - T. Hassell for LMA, Blake, and Trout. It works in the trade machine. I personally would hate to see LMA leave but i have read a few things here and there about LMA not being totally sold on portland and maybe wanting to explore his options. I have no clue how much truth these little tid-bits i have seen/read have but if anyone would know the extent of truth about it, i would think K.P. would. K.P. does, at some point have to ask himself if he wants to pay a guy 11-13 mil/yr for the same kind of production that Millsap brings and Millsap plays for between 2-6 million less, this is not chump change.
I mean think about it, i would hate to have LMA light us up for 35 twice a year when we play the nets but the prospect of our Starting five being: D. Harris - B. Roy- Webster/Batum/Claver/who ever - P. Millsap - G. Oden. All while still retaining a bench of Rudy, Bayless, Pryz, Batum/Webster, and our random fillers. I think this line up would light things on fire. Millsap haters will have plenty to say about my "thought" such as his hieght, his lack of true playing experience, etc. I personally see him in the Buck Williams, Brian Grant mold.....I like LMA alot but Buck and B-Grant are IMO two of the best PFs(along with Mo Lucas) to ever put on a Blazer uni and they all played the same type of game...Tough, defensive, rebounding machines.
What do you guys think? Is this possable? A bad idea? A good idea? Or blasphemy?
