Junk Drawer July 12th - 9 billion people

The UN just released new numbers about the growth of the world's population (yesterday was World Population Day, with a focus on girls and education). It slows down overall, but is still growing especially in developing countries. In 2050 the world will have to sustain 9 billion people. And one of them is you (hopefully). That growth brings huge economic, political, social and environmental issues that have to be dealt with. If you are currently in school, maybe keep that trend in mind for your future job. Just saying.

If you want more space, come on over to Europe. We are the only continent with shrinking population, back to a level last seen 30 years ago. UN population database (country by country). US population clock.

You think there will be more tall athletes among those 9 billion people suitable for basketball? The UN report doesn't say, but I would guess so.
