ManSap's Playground (Info/Media Blitz)
INFO/VIDEO/PICS etc-SHARE YOUR OWN!
I scrounged the interweb for the best I could find. Here's hoping this post doesn't go to waste unlike the TurkyGlue one...but I got a good feeling we will AT LEAST have Paul until Dec 15 if not the whole year and beyond. (this time I hyperlinked to new windows! So no annoying having to go back constantly.)
Random Factoids worth mentioning about ManSap( I didn't choose that nickname...PLEASE suggest another!)
- Played at LA-Tech, the same school as Karl Malone. (double burn on Utah.)
-Accolades: Louisiana Mr. Basketball (high school) (03), Fourth Team Parade All-American (high school) (03), WAC Freshman of the Year (04), Second Team All-WAC (04), WAC All-Newcomer (04), First Team All-WAC (05), First Team All-WAC (06), WAC All-Defensive Team (06).
-only player in NCAA history to win three straight national rebounding titles.
General INFO/STATS:
ESPN Player Page(with Gamelog loaded, look at between Dec and Feb, he was a BEAST. Surprising amount of steals for a 4/5 and also his O-rebounds were off the charts, almost averaged more of those than Defensive)
NBA.COM Player Page(ESPN is better IMO, more detailed)
College Highlights: (can you find this range his agent was talking about?)
Still looking....damn hard to find. I would ask around from Utah fans or Lousiana Tech people if they have any stowed away on a HD or random site.
Add them in a reply and I'll edit them in.
Interesting tidbit, Bing video search allows mouse-over play on their vids, pretty cool.
NBA Highlights:
Mixes:
First 12 Games as Jazzersizer (worst song choice in history....)
Single Plays:
AMAZING POST MOVE! ( visions of SF eh? He is pretty damn smooth and quick for 250)
Circus Shot (OLAY!)
Here is a present for my new Pal in Da Post!
NBA 2K9 highlights (Cool feature! At the end of every game you can watch highlights from every player that played.)
Interviews(Face time for PM. Lady killer? Meh, no Rudy that's for sure, but he's the Brad Pitt of the NBA so that's hard to compete with)
Special Vids:
MMA Traiing in offseason (New sparring partner for Joel!)

This post is excellent
A buffet of goodness. Super cool.

=Worm 2!
Very good work. Thank you.
I don't know about the rest of y'all
but I see some “SF skills” peeking out in those youtube clips
(and PM absolutely “gangstered” Travis on a couple of those highlights!)
Maybe the reason why everybody thinks of PM as a “PF only” is because he’s never been allowed to expand his game in Jerry Sloan’s system? (where it’s “know your role, shut your mouth and rebound!”?)
Nice blocked shots, the kid has some heart and desire to “beat down” his opponent. I can see why KP has targeted him to “replace” Outlaw as the backup 4/3
When reached 39 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
I think the problem is...
we have a view of the 3 as someone who is tall, quick and lanky that is a slasher and outside shooter. That is not how it always was and that is not how it has to be. I agree though. Millsap is extremely athletic and a great weakside defender. He is young and learning, but if we actually get the opportunity to get this kid, he may be starting in that 3 slot (on offense) before the end of the season and play something like a Jerome Kersey.

Indeed. The NBA is an everchanging machine, especially with rule changes here and there.
Think about before the 3 pointer, you had a lot of bulkier SF who would be bangers and all around players, not just “wing bomber.”
That gives me a good idea to make a post about other Small Forwards who don’t fit the bill. Didn’t Sir Charles play that role abit? He had an outside game but was thick and a rebounder. I think the main issue of a SF who is bulky like Millsap or even Aldrige is whom do they guard and can they be quick enough?
If you look at the AMAZING POST MOVE link, he flashes a BRILLIANT headfake dribble back fadeaway jumper. It was unreal.
And if you did a TRIPLE TOWER lineup of sorts, is it that terrible if you had 3 bigs that can all crash the boards? While Roy/Rudy/Batum/Bayless etc hang on the outside?

Trade for Gerald Wallace!!
I dont want to be rude
but who cares about what happened with the rules of yesteryear? We need a SF that maximizes what the rules and defenses are giving us now.
I imagine he might be able to play SF on offense, but I would really need to see him play some defense at the SF to see if he has enough lateral quickness to stay in front of guys. I am hedging towards “no he cant guard arguably the position with the greatest combo of size athleticism in the league”, but I could be wrong. Keep in mind that he was a banger in college and his 82games profile does not listing him as playing a significant % of minutes at the 3.
Also, LMA is not going to be guarding 3s very well. He can bother quick pgs with his length, but when you combine quickness and length at the 3 then LMA is less bothersome.
Life is exhausting when you are this stupid.
