Yeah, the SLC coverage makes it sound like the Jazz might no match. That is totally cool with me. And also I think its cool the article makes it sound like Millsap would prefer to play for Portland. Very nice!
my link is different.
My link has alot of relevant info not included in the other fanpost.
$10.3 million up front-I would want to go to the Blazers as well! This is all very interesting, I wonder how it plays out.

By "upfront," the $10.3 million must be the signing bonus combined with the salary of the first season.
Technically speaking, however, the actual upfront payment that Paul Millsap will receive is the 17.5% signing bonus. While the salary of the first season will potentially make a financial impact on the Utah Jazz regarding the luxury tax, it’ll be paid out throughout the season rather than “upfront.”
your exactly right-- heres a good quote from the article
The offer sheet that Millsap, Utah’s backup power forward, signed with Portland on Friday night calls for him to make approximately $6.2 million next season, $6.2 million in 2009-10, $6.7 million in 2010-11 and $7.2 million in 2011-2012 — plus a $5.6 million signing bonus. Moreover, both the signing bonus and about $4.7 million of the first-season salary — $4,715,400, to be more precise — must be paid with seven days after the contract is approved by the NBA.
That’s right: $10.3 million payable up front, within seven days.

Golden State and Miami
Golden State and Miami are believed to be other possible destinations for Boozer, but Detroit — once a supposed suitor — evidently is not.
If one of those two take him in a three way trade, who would we be getting from them?
Keep in mind that everything I know about basketball I learned on Blazers Edge.
The GSW fanbase might be getting a little tired of Monta (great penetrator, lousy defense)
Biedrins is a younger, more athletic Pryzbilla, but he’d probably want to start. Miami doesn’t really have anyone that we’d want.
sorry i know we don't need him
but i still got a lot of respect for his offensive game
Heat forward James Jones pulled off a rare feat Monday night not once, but twice.
In a span of 11 seconds late in the second quarter of Game 4 of the Eastern Conference first-round series against Atlanta, Jones connected on two four-point plays that keyed a 19-2 run by the Heat.
“I haven’t seen that ever in my career,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said.
Turiaf or Stephen Jackson from Golden State
Haslem or Daequan Cook from Miami
Those would be my guesses
When reached 39 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
I think Boozer wants to win
And Detroit has all but announced they won’t be winning anytime soon.

Boozer doesn't get any say in it.
Keep in mind that everything I know about basketball I learned on Blazers Edge.
Here are the unrounded numbers, based on the info in the article:
Year 1 – $6,225,000 base salary + $1,400,000 bonus = $7,625,000 cap hit
Year 2 – $6,225,000 base salary + $1,400,000 bonus = $7,625,000 cap hit
Year 3 – $6,725,000 base salary + $1,400,000 bonus = $8,125,000 cap hit
Year 4 – $7,225,000 base salary + $1,400,000 bonus = $8,625,000 cap hit
Millsap gets a $5,600,000 bonus upfront. He also apparently gets the maximum 75% of the first year’s salary paid upfront (which is $4,668,750). So the total amount of money paid here in July (either by the Blazers or the Jazz) will be $10,268,750. He’ll be due the rest of his $1,556,250 regular season salary as normal – in incremental payments as the season progresses.
It’s been awhile since I heard about a player getting 75% of their 1st year salary paid up front, although it is allowed. I remember Lamar Odom getting it when he signed with Miami and Elton Brand getting it when the Clippers matched his offer sheet years ago. I think Kobe also got it when he re-signed with the Lakers back in 2004. It’s permittable but still pretty rare.
Its a smart move
Because with new ownership and already being over the Luxury Tax cap, it hurts Utah either way.

DUDE! Im honored!
You are the man storyteller- alteast you are the Cap Master! Thanks for the little tidbit there at the end. It is unusual to see a bonus like this,so the bonus must be the toxic part of the deal. I wonder if people think that Utah will match now that we can see some of the #’s in the deal?
