Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

UPDATE: I took the time to type up a transcript. The relevant sections start at the 8 minute mark.

Radio Host: "So that’s where this is comes from? From Paul Allen?"

Quick: "Absolutely. I think so. I don’t think there is any question. Yes. I’m going to say yes.."

Host: "Ok, so that brings up the point that if you’re Kevin Pritchard and he’s interfering like that and obviously it makes Pritchard look terrible, so at what point does Kevin Pritchard have a problem with Paul Allen and then you’ve got a big mess on your hands?"

Quick: "Well, I think we’re already to that point."

Host: "You think Prtichard is bothered by all this?"

Quick: "He’s frustrated. Yes."

It’s worth a listen.

----

Interview with 1080 the fan this afternoon. Quick says the problem comes from Paul Allen. He says Pritchard is frustrated.

The point of interest is that Quick says Paul Allen's health has been poor and kept him away from the team some.

This could make some sense. If Paul Allen is under the weather, he might be handing off more decision-making to the Vulcans. This would explain a lot of the actions--particularly as it pertains to the Roy contract negotiations.

This is awful.......

We are in a position to be a top tier team for years to come. But we cant get on board with giving BRoy what he wants? I hope that this looks way worse than it really is.

Does anyone know what would happen to the team if Paul Allen tips over?

Quick = Canzano

I’ve got better things to do than listen to those “superstars” yap.

hmmm

Absolutely. I think so.

"Fernandez, to my eyes, is the Blazer who walks that walk most comfortably. A lot of Portland's fans (egged on, dare I say, by their local broadcasters) lament things like how Ron Artest or Yao Ming get to hit Brandon Roy's arms.

But I suspect Fernandez sees all that and thinks: We get to hit arms! Cool!"

"Yes. I'm going to say yes..."

Wonderful. You have to love speculation stated as fact.

Quick thinks he’s so dialed in. His locker room series was enjoyable, but his continued attempts to state as fact, his assumptions about how the players operate internally, really put a bad taste in my mouth. You could tell it irked several of the players too (Quick admitted as much).

Like it or not

I think Quick has been pretty accurate describing the pulse of team.
Everyone was trying to throw him under the bus when he first reported Roy’s frustrations,
when in fact he a proved correct.

This is getting ridiculous. They need to sign him really soon before they piss him off for good.

If he got hurt in that 5th year his Jersey sales will total more than the Blazers are paying him.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
