Offer is designed to force the issue with the trade
They have 7 days to make a better offer to Millsap. The easiest way for them to do this is to send Boozer packing. (which they obviously want to do anyway) If by chance Utah doesn’t match & we get him we now have even more talent to use in trade before the deadline to upgrade our team.

That's over 8 mil per year
It is a toxic offer, indeed. So, we either get Millsap, the Jazz match or we leverage them into a trade with somebody (da bulls?). Sounds like a win/win for Portland.

Excellent.
I consider this a good move in the right direction. I’m quite hopeful.

I wish they would of given the Jazz more time to find a 3-way deal for Boozer.
Back-up PF isn’t really a big need, LA is a horse he can handle 40 a night.

They have a week (or until next Weds)
They can still discuss scenarios with other teams.

LaMarcus is a horse
but it is better to keep him somewhat fresh for the playoffs. No reason to kill the starters during the regular season if it isn’t necessary. Besides, this just may be forcing the 3 way trade which is rumored.

Large signing bonus
is probably the leverage for a possible trade. My guess is that the Jazz will have a hard time paying that bonus but if they cooperate in a trade, the blazers will chip in for it.

Some good news.
Living near Salt Lake I saw Milsap play a few times last season like his game, I also like his character. Would be a good fit if we could get him. If not we will make the Jazz go broke trying to keep him. Smart Move by KP.

There is no signing going on
We made an official offer, no one was signed.

Yeah despite the misleading title most of us caught on to that.....
I check my sources, it seems most people don’t care about the truth these days they just want to report something significant on the off chance that they were right and the first ones to report it. Thank you for keeping us accurate.

Actually, I might be wrong on this
Millsap might have had to sign the offer sheet before the Jazz get their 7 days to match. Either way, he’s not officially on contract with us yet.

Jazz should only get 10 minutes to match not 7 days

Utah is gonna match, so this headline is really ridiculous and needs to be changed.
