What is up with this Summer?
We find out that during the Draft we basically trade Sergio for nothing because we could have got Pedegraph at 33, then we move up in the first round for no reason because we could have got Claver at 24, Blair was not even on our radar?, We go after Turk a player we don't need and offer him too much money if you ask me, they tell fans that Bayless is working out with Oden when Bayless says they are not, We don't sign Roy or LA when the Cap has been lowered so were already getting them at a better price, we can't get a deal done for Hinrich, Prince, whoever.... I am beginning to wonder if this poor off season is making up for the great ones we have had in years past, a little balance maybe, whatever it is though I hope our juju changes soon...

I am very fustrated with this offseason so far
the only thing I like is that we are apparently looking into Hinrich and Millsap— which I think is smart. Hopefully something happens.
We may be looking at both...
but we will not obtain both, one possibly, but it will be difficult either way. Any offer to Millsap (a RFA) will likely be matched by the Jazz, especially since Boozer will be gone next summer, if not dealt prior. The departure of Gordon just about kills any simplified lopsided trade with the Bulls.
I say we offer Millsap or Lee, a hefty contract to back-up LA (which from all accounts, both guys would accept that role), but it needs to be large enough so it can’t be matched by their current teams.
Blake is serviceable for at least another 1/2 a year of start minutes and perhaps Bayless will develop enough to takeover the starting duties in 2010-2011.

List of what has gone wrong this offseason
1. Moving up to draft Victor Claver when we probably didn’t have too.
2. Pasiing on Dejuan Blair.
3. Throwing a lot of money at Hedo Tukoglu.
4. Patrick Mills broken foot.
5. Roy and Aldridge contract discussions not going well.
6. Missing out on some key free agents
7. Broken trade discussions.
8. What next?
also
rudy becoming concerned about his playing time. this was blown out of proportions, but a problem nonetheless.
I would put
Roy and Aldridge contract discussions not going well at the top of the list if it’s based on importance.

Let's look at some assumptions
“…we basically trade Sergio for nothing because we could have got Pedegraph at 33, then we move up in the first round for no reason because we could have got Claver at 24…”
And you know this how? Because some “draft experts” said so?
Maybe this is the case, but there is no way you can logically state this as fact.
“… I hope our juju changes soon…”
I actually like this because you used the word juju. But maybe our juju is just marinating, waiting for a violent explosion (sorry for the graphic image).
Hopefully kp is trying to stay off the radar
So he can pull a crazy deal and Pritch-slap the hell out of somebody. The last year and a half have been very unimpressive. Maybe he’s blackballed? Maybe he’s lost his touch? Maybe he’s trying to play it safe? Who knows. Lets hope it turns around soon
Blackballed/blacklisted? Yes indeed
There is no doubt he and his team have been active since draft day, but likely, nobody wants to deal with them now (e.g. Draft to get LA/Roy & Miles signing ultimatum).

This offseason has the potential to go down as the worst offseason in Blazer's history.
J Bay Bay don't play that. J Bay Bay 2010 'Zers starting point guard over B Rex.
Another assumption
Even if we don’t make any more moves, we could end up being fine.
We just had an amazing season with 4 returning rooks, let them show you what they can do please.
Also not making a move this offseason could lead to a great deal during the season.

Saying "we could end up being fine"
is just as much of an assumption.
You’re either floating to the top or sinking in this league.
Every single contender has made moves to improve their team. I repeat: Every. Single. Contender.
That's true with older teams
You really think that if we go into the season with out roster, that we’re going to be worst? Come on now, we’re a young team with another year of experience. This “Bad Offseason” hysteria is getting old.
Witty Unpredictable Talent and Natural Game
You are not overreacting enough
Worst offseason in NBA history.

Oh, I don’t think your offseason is so bad. After all, your stars are healthy and expected to play a full season.

Not too worried.
Free Agency: Landing a free agent in Portland is hard. We thought other teams wouldn’t be spending money this year; we were wrong. If we can’t overpay, we’ve got cards stacked against us. Small market, geographically isolated, monoculture, lousy weather, etc.
Hedo: Good riddance. Good player, but old and getting older, a non PG playmaker on a team with Brandon Roy, and a poor defender.
Brandon Bass: A shame he’s going to Orlando, but see above.
Roy/Aldridge: I’m a little perplexed on this one, but I’m not really worried, particularly re: Roy. Roy holds all the cards here. He’ll get what he wants. If anything, bargaining tough w/Roy is sending a signal to Aldridge he can’t insist on a max contract. That’s fine with me. I love LA, but he hasn’t earned max money yet.
Sergio: Addition by subtraction. There’s just no room to keep him and develop Bayless. And I like the guy. I wish him the best in Sacramento.
Patty Mills: Darn shame.
Bayless/Oden: ???????? Totally bizarre. I won’t care so long as Oden’s in shape by pre-season.

The off season passes... Big deal
Gosh, it’s the off season again, and we’re still wanting all of the entertainment that we can handle from the Blazers. We want the Blazers to pull off miracles, and drastically change their lineup. Well, I’m not too disappointed that nothing drastic has happened.
I’m sorry, but I’m not really all that worked up over how little the Blazers have done. I really didn’t think that any of the free agents were all that great. I could argue that we have better players already than anyone of the free agents that were out there. Artest would have been nice, but I’m not sure he would have fit in with the Blazers all that well.
The draft- Really? Was anyone in the draft someone that would have made the Blazers better? I honestly don’t think that one player that was drafted above where the Blazers were would have broke into the Blazers rotation. Even Griffin would have come off the bench! To move up to draft anyone in the lottery would have cost the Blazers far too much. Maybe even one of last years rookies, all of which would have been top 5-10 in this years draft.
Turkalou (sp?)- It hurt that he didn’t want to sign because he didn’t enjoy the city I love, but I’m not sad that the Blazers aren’t on the hook for the next 5 years with a bad contract.
Ariza (sp?)- Are you kidding me? I would take any one of our 3 men over him. He’s a product of Kobe, just like Luke Walton was before him.
As far as the trades go, I’m really not sure what other teams have been willing to put on the table, or have asked of the Blazers. I just can’t see anyone out there that is a major upgrade that wouldn’t cost the Blazers 2 or more of their young talent, plus either Joel or Blake. The fact is that the Blazers won 54 games with 3 rookies in the rotation, and one that played significant minutes for part of the season.
As for the negotiations between the Blazers and LA/Roy, give it time. We’re talking millions and millions and MILLIONS of dollars here! It’s easy for us to tell Paul Allen to just pay whatever they ask, but anyone who doesn’t do some negotiations is an idiot. The fact is the cap is going down, and might continue to go down. A 17 million dollar contract could turn into 20+ when we go over the cap, like I’m sure we will eventually. Roy will sign a contract, same with LA.

EVRYONE IS OVERREACTING!
Guys keep in mind here that we were the 2nd youngest team in the league last year ,won 54 games, and made the playoffs. Now I’m not saying we don’t need to make any moves and that we are a contender as currently built, but not having fireworks this offseason is NOT THE END OF THE WORLD.
Don’t sweat the Brandon Roy and Lamarcus Aldridge negotiations, they will both be resigned (you think the Blazers would let our only All-Star and a NW native and leader of our team leave…..don’t think so) KP even said both will be here for a long time, a lot of this is just posturing and nack-and-forth stuff, don’t bug out on it
Getting Hedo would have handcuffed us BIG TIME, especilly in years 4 and 5 of that contract. He would habve helped us, but at that cost? No thanks.
We did exactly what we needed to in the draft, grabbed one of Europe’s best young talents that we can leave over there to develop without costing us anything, and picked up 2 bangers that make us a tougher team and can shore up the backup 4 position.
The Sergio and Oden/Bayless stuff is fluff, who cares really? and Patty Mills wasn’t goingto get any run anyway so no loss there.
I still think there is a move coming, Pritchard knows we need to do something at PG and we have some assets like Outlaw and cap space that can make that happen, but other things have to shake out. Even if we sign Millsap (best player left on the market) and use him as a future tading chip, where’s the harm in that?

I don't want to see Pritchard posturing when it comes to Roy
I want him to cradle Brandon Jr in his arms and back a dump truck full of money into Roy Sr’s driveway.

Exactly!
Well stated, Swagger… Calm down people… The Blazers were not going to win the title next year, no matter what. This team is being built to challenge for many years, starting in 2010-2011.
Seems like it will ALWAYS be hard to bring even one superstar here.
An upgrade at point gaurd and a solid backup PF are the glaring issues here. Every contender beefed up their roster. But noooo every player on our team is a worth soo much more than what other teams think so for that we could never do a huge trade because the fans would cry and b at the fact that it takes three of our players to equal on really good difference maker/game changer. I would do/give up just about anything for this team to win an NBA title. Seems like Blazer fans have to wait another year to even start contending according do Rick_D. I say WIN NOW.
I keep wating for the light at the end of the tunnel. This offseason has been a ride for sure...
but not catastrophic. As long as Brandon and LMA get extensions it will be a successful off-season.
I sing when I panic. (All In the Family)
Boy, the way the Blazers played
Back before this mess was made
KP’s welcome’s overstayed
He laid an egg
Why can’t he just make a trade?
Or at the least just fire Nate
I bet Roy leaves for Golden State
He laid an egg
All I want to do is win
Can we trade LA for Jefferson?
Mister we could use some men like ’Sheed and Damon again!
Pritchard seems to be content
As left and right free agents went
I demand that PA’s money’s spent!
He laid an egg
All I seem to hear is spin
While we take it on the chin
Just make a move…like Oden for Ha Seung Jin
I’m tired of this same old song
Pritchard’s had this job for way too long
Isaiah couldn’t be this wrong
He laid an egg
The cowards never started
The weak died along the way
Only the strong survived
They were the Trailblazers

Patience young Grasshopper.
Something will all come of this. And even if it doesn’t we will have another year to evaluate the young talent we have, and begin to assess who we want to hold onto long-term.
With the growth and experience of young players comes increased trade value. The only thing we won’t have next summer is cap space.
We are such a unprecedented young team, it would seem possible that we would have to do something out of the conventional GM playbook.
With a special team comes very unique operations, but we must lock up Brandon either way. Just a little bit longer friends, something good will come out of this yet. Let’s call it North-West hippy logic.
