Trade Talks Dead?

Sportscenter is reporting that trade talks between the Blazers, Bulls, and Jazz have cooled, chris brussard is also reporting that KP is saying that talkes have stopped and that this trade will not happen. i think that KP is going to find a way to to get a PG but maybe in a diffrent trade with the Bulls or another team all togheter, and i also think that the Jazz will find a way to move boozer and resign millsap.

Another one too, per RB

@TheD_WhatUpDoe @teebeebee Deal was Booz to Det, Prince to Por, Trade Exception + Bayless to Utah. But it won’t happen.

Well that is the thing about hardball...

you have to be serious about your threat. That means we sign Millsap to the toxic deal. Let the league know we aren’t just posturing.

well, so far: "The deal we hear about is dead"...

So, now maybe something can happen.
But, yeah, I could see GMs looking twice at Pritchard deals after the way he made others look bad in the past. I’m hopeful something good will pop one of these days.

Maybe the silence is a good sign..

I am still hoping for Devin Harris. Maybe New Jersey wants to be even further under the cap next year and would take Boozer for a year, send Devin Harris to us, we would send Outlaw to Utah and Utah could get space to sign Millsap. There would have to be some other contracts included to make this work. But I think Boozer would be a good fit next to Lopez in NJ and it would free up tons of cap space for them next year. Utah gets to sign Millsap and gets Outlaw to add more scoring punch at the 3/4 position.

I am holding out hope that Harris is in the works for us! Something has got to happen and maybe the silence is a good sign!

Fantasy World

Might as well add Boston in on the action & have them send Ray Allen(& his fat contract) to NJ as well.

Patience :)

I posted this last night in another thread

I still hope for Devin Harris
3 team trade.

Jazz get Blake, Outlaw and Hassell from NJ. All expiring contracts and useful players.
NJ gets Boozer. They have long been rumored to be interested.
Portland gets Harris.

Ok, whats really going on now.....

I was going to do a fanpost, but I thought I could probably condense my thoughts enough on here.

Now that we have struck out on Hedo (I didnt really care), it seems like we cant get anything done. I am probably just impatient, but if Krik Hinrich is going to be all we get for Travis or Blake or both, that seems like a failure of an offseason to me. The free agent pool was pretty weak to begin with, but trading away good players for Kirk Hinrich just doesnt seem like it accomplishes much.

And to add on to the free agent / trade failures, we now have haggling over Roy & LMA contracts. I believe in KP, but he needs to figure things out. Swapping Travis and Blake for Kirk would be a bad offseason.

Hi fans it Brandon Roy.
And ME.....LaMarcus Aldridge

Marvin Williams shoul be our next canidate

That and doing a deal with Memphis – Trout and Bayless for Conley, I know this is heavily in Memphis favor but I feel like once we make amends with them all the other GM’s will forget

It says Bulls want Bayless

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4319607

I say yes we should include Bayless if we need to to get the trade done.

by goblazer1 on Jul 10, 2009 12:05 PM PDT up reply actions

no way

hinrich/blake at PG (2 very similar players) at the cost of all our space and bayless?

just say no

How did you guys win that?

no no no

throwing bayless into the deal would be a terrible move. Don’t even talk about it.

by vullkem116 on Jul 10, 2009 12:32 PM PDT reply actions

A retort

1) The capspace is use it or lose it. An upgrade a point guard improves the Blazers, as does added depth at that position.
2) Bayless has done what, exactly? I do not see such great potential as many on BE see in him. He was a summer league MVP. So what. When it came time to break into the regular season rotation, he couldn’t. And Nate definitely gave him an fair opportunity to win that backup point guard job. He couldn’t do it. That means he isn’t very good (yet?). Blake is an actual NBA starting point guard. And you know who else was a summer league MVP? Qyntel Woods.

by goblazer1 on Jul 10, 2009 12:34 PM PDT reply actions

Yeah, because it was first year

and he came out of college as a freshman

He’s got a lot to learn, but you don’t just throw it away on just 1 season.

by Taskmaster on Jul 10, 2009 1:36 PM PDT up reply actions

It ain't throwing it away

Its trading him for an NBA starting quality point guard who has size, plays good defense and can shoot decent. Its trading parts we don’t need for a part we kinda do need.

Percentage of rumors that turn out to be true?

I wonder if someone with more free time than I have can go back through the trade rumors or free agent signings from the last year that have generated at least one FanPost. And then figure out how many of them have ended up coming true. I bet it is something like 1%.
So for each new FanPost/shot about a rumor, there needs to be a footnote:

WARNING: THE TRADE AND/OR FREE AGENT SIGNING DISCUSSED IN THIS POST HAS A 99% CHANCE OF NOT ACTUALLY HAPPENING.

Or, we could adopt The Sports Guy’s new Proof of Life theory:
