Chris Sheridan is bit of a scrub anyways on the ESPN roster.

You shouldn't worry about it.

It is OK to be upset if players seem to be making crazy demands. Anyway, all that talk was an ‘if this is true’ sort of thing.

We could’ve couched everything with this fact, but I’m pretty sure everyone took it as conjecture. Who knows, if it had been someone else rumored to be making demands, Rudy might have ewacted the same way you did.

if you guys think about it

next year were gonna be realllly dangerouse…like no joke.. look at our depth, theirs not one player on this team i would slack off on if i was the opponent except maybe one of the rooks who make roster

Oden...Aldridge...Roy.....THE REAL BIG THREE

Bayless.

Slack off of him. He won’t make the jumper.

I really hope he’s got his shot back so that this sarcastic remark is totally untrue.

Shooting is a skill that players can readily improve with practice

If Bayless’ crazy work ethic is to be believed, he should be able to develop a nice shot.

by ninjasocks on Jul 1, 2009 10:09 PM PDT up reply actions

He had a smooth jumper in college.

Not sure what his deal is.

I heard a former pro talking about how it’s impossible for most guys to find their rhythm playing limited minutes. I can see the logic in that.

I heard the Blazers had reworked his shot

He had bad form or something?

I think it was a slow release.

Probably wasn’t a big deal until he came to the pros. Hopefully that will be fixed by Summer league.

Shooters need practice to warm up to perform well

And that means they need to take a few shots sometimes to get hot.

I hope it's true.

I have a feeling the whole drama started with a friend / family member telling Rudy his team back in Portland was going after Hedo, and Rudy said ( in confidence ) " @#$%!, this might eat into my minutes! And why are we signing another wing player?" Then the friend / family member called ESPN and said Rudy was furious.

by dario argento on Jul 1, 2009 11:01 PM PDT reply actions

I bet there's at least a kernel of truth to the reports of Rudy's unhappiness

and it makes sense. NBA rotations typically go 8-9 deep in the regular season, and the 9th man gets squeezed come playoff time. Portland has a legit 10-11 deep roster, and there would be a crunch at the wing positions next to/behind Roy if Rudy, Hedo, Batum, TO, and Webster were all healthy and in Portland next year. I’m not in favor of bringing in Trukoglu – solid player, would be an offensive upgrade, but his asking price and the other glaring need (PG) in the starting 5 makes me think that position could be the focus. Maybe this is all part of KPs master plan to land Hedo and a frontline PG, because if Rudy and/or Batum were available, we’d have a much better shot at landing a legit star at the 1. Still, roster consolidation is coming – and it will not be a completely fun process, if today was any indication.

Team Bayless - The takeover begins in 2009

Sheridan's Report is Bogus:

He said that European teams have been contacting him and offering him money, but at this current time, Rudy is at a kids camp and I don’t understand how he would just randomly tell ESPN and European teams that he was mad and wants out of Portland. It just doesn’t make any sense and sometimes I wonder where these so called journalists get their information. Also add to the fact that Nate and KP talked to him two days ago and Casey is over in Spain and Rudy is completely happy. This is just crap.

Good news

I’m really happy to hear this

by GreatOdensRaven on Jul 2, 2009 1:46 AM PDT reply actions

I was interested in how the Portland TV stations would report this

KOIN and KATU hastened to add the denials stated by the team and the Oregonian, but I was not surprised in the least the KGW’s Adam Bjaranson omitted that detail, breathlessly playing up the “drama” in all of this (I am not a fan of Mr. Bjaranson, yet another in a long line of smug KGW sports guys. It’s all been downhill since Scott Lynn left). Keep it up, Adam. You’d be perfect in cable news, and that’s not a compliment.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
