Sources: Ariza Leaning Towards Leaving Lakers (FROM ESPN, NOT A FAKE LIKE THE TORONTO ONE)
That Toronto deal was a fake, but ESPN has five teams (including the Blazers, although I think that's unlikely) being interested and the Lakers not willing to offer much more than the MLE.

Nice!
I don’t want him, but hopefully he goes to a bad team for a lot of money.

Ariza is long Athletic and explosive
These are things that KP values highly. Do not be surprised if we at least court him.

He reminds me too much of what Batum will be in a few years.
And he isn’t that far away either. But it does not make sense to not use our cap flexibility while we have it.

LOL
I think that’s just more of David Lee’s sabre-rattling. He’s trying to drum up interest for his client while LAL wait-and-see which teams, if any, are willing to give him more than the mid-level.
As to the interested teams, which will offer him major minutes? Toronto? Maybe the Rockets? That’s it. Without PT, he can’t increase his value or his chance at his next big contract.
In any case, the Lakers will simply outbid any team offering him the mid-level. On top of making more money, he is assured a starting role and major minutes.

David Lee
is Ariza’s agent

Two jobs?
Where does he find the time?

He does it while waiting 23 seconds under the basket waiting for NateRob to finially stop dribbling and shoot the ball.

Broussard was just on SC
and said that L*A only offered TA the mid-level exceptiona and he’s treating that like a slap in the face. Cleveland is putting on the full-court press right now, but Broussard did mention Portland as one of the teams who had the money to offer him more
(no mention of Nate/KP’s pursuit of Turk on the WW “sport’s leader”)
Ariza isn't going to walk away from a spot in the world champ's starting lineup
to backing up LJ and Delonte West for the same amount of money, IMHO.
"I've hacked into your brain. You're throwing a party and no one's showing up."
Worst case scenario
Ariza signs a 1-year deal w/ LAL and tries to cash in next year.

LOL would Rudy Fernandez threaten to leave If we Offer Ariza as well?
that would be funny.

Drama seems to follow Spanish media sources.
Not that I look down on it. Just seems to be a common theme.

I would much rather have Ariza than Turkoglu… AND he’s cheaper. Isn’t this a win-win?

A chanch to offer Ariza 6.5 mil
He would be good value at that price and if not LA eats 1 mil in cap,no skin off our nose either way
No way that offer is made.
You guys already have that much invested in Webster, plus you have Rudy and Batum and Outlaw. What are you going to say to Ariza when he accepts that offer? Ewps! Just kidding!
"I've hacked into your brain. You're throwing a party and no one's showing up."
agreed, people forget, its about acquiring "assets" other teams might want...
if we sign Ariza, we’d be getting an economical deal very likely, and a player entering his prime, if we do that, even a guy like Batum is expendable to get a “knock your socks off pg,” that is a HUGE position to put our team in…why doesn’t KP see this…

Apparently, you're not aware that we're currently considering offering a SF $10 million/year
And looking to package Outlaw/Blake/other stuff for a PG upgrade.
Have you read BE at all lately?
It still doesn't make sense if Outlaw is there or not.
Unless you’re okay with a platoon of Ariza/Webster/Batum; unless you’re okay with investing money in another SF instead of David Lee, Paul Millsap, or Brandon Bass.
"I've hacked into your brain. You're throwing a party and no one's showing up."
Right now, Nate is having dinner with Hedo, a SF
They’re planning to upgrade the SF position with a veteran and package the extra SFs (Batum, Outlaw) in a package for a PG upgrade.
I don’t see why they wouldn’t want to spend less on younger SF who plays better defense and has a better PER (especially if they can weaken the Lakers while doing it). Do you?
I wonder if Nate and Hedo are at a candlelight dinner flirting about PT

And no one is going to pay Lee or Millsap $10 million/year to play 10 mpg backing up LMA
Those guys are starters now and they’re going to get paid like it.
He would still have good trade value at that price
But no,I dont want another 3

Sign Ariza to a good deal, there's gotta be a team out there that would give us a really, really nice pg
Possibilities: DJ Augustin for Batum & Bayless? For Ariza/Outlaw/ & Bayless…we may even get a guy like Conley w/o gutting our SF’s future, if we had Ariza for the next 8 years, I wouldn’t mind Batum leaving, he could garner quite a bit…BUT THERE IS NO CHANCE ANYONE WILL TRADE FOR HEDO, OR NO WAY WE CAN TRADE BATUM IF WE SIGN HEDO, HE’S OUR ONLY FUTURE THEN
by TrentEdwardsHoF2018 on Jul 1, 2009 9:29 PM PDT reply actions
why would we trade Batum if we sign Hedo
instead it makes Outlaw and webster expendable…and KP can take the rest of the summer to see which teams are going after FA’s in the 3 position and then use the 3’s and “other assets” we have to target the right PG for us…
I am now a fan of HEDOnism
Outlaw would definitely be on the way out
I think Webster, because of injury concerns, probably doesn’t have as much value at the moment.
We could trade/cut him, Sergio Rodriguez style.
I object.

I would love to see a stat on how many of Ariza's 3pt shots were
a) created of his own accord
b) contested versus wide open off Gasol or Kobe double teams
Rudy whacking aside…I am not a big fan of Ariza….and people around here think Hedo only had one great year.
I am now a fan of HEDOnism
The more I think of this, the more I like it, sign Ariza, and then use him, or one of our other sf's for a trade
I really wouldn’t mind Ariza as our starting SF in our potential dynasty, and if we gave up Batum & Rudy, the pg we could get, I think could be sick…
Ex: DJ Augustin, Roy, Ariza, LMA, Oden Bench: Bayless for the 1&2, Webster 3, Outlaw 4, Pryz 5
I even think that’s too much to give up for DJ, but you get my drift, we’d have serious trade options, bc we coulld part with a lot…I think Batum & Rudy could get us Rondo, I haven’t thought much about the scenarios bc I’ve never contemplated giving up Batum
by TrentEdwardsHoF2018 on Jul 1, 2009 9:36 PM PDT reply actions
Shoot, I think Batum & Rudy could potentially get us any pg we wanted outside of CP3 & Williams
by TrentEdwardsHoF2018 on Jul 1, 2009 9:38 PM PDT reply actions
dude that is 2 mil in salaries...that's not "any" PG...that's a rookie salary scale or old bench scrub PG
I am now a fan of HEDOnism
The Point: See the good possibilities of an Ariza signing, we could figure out the other stuff, I haven't had time to process
by TrentEdwardsHoF2018 on Jul 1, 2009 10:04 PM PDT up reply actions
Sure
I was just responding to the idea that we wouldn’t be able to get much value for Rudy and Nic because they have low salaries.
If we package them with Blake’s partially guaranteed contract and the Trout, we should be able to get a nice PG in return.
Finally, Devin Harris is scheduled to make 7.8 mill this year, not too much, and we could get creative...
the point is to see that we could get really creative in improving our team, and start propsoing the types of trades that would improve “both trading teams,” those ar the trades that often happen
by TrentEdwardsHoF2018 on Jul 1, 2009 10:03 PM PDT reply actions
Or, we could trade a guy like Batum for Chalmers straight up
He’s got fantastic “D” and hit 367% on 3’s last year, while taking over 300 of them
by TrentEdwardsHoF2018 on Jul 1, 2009 10:06 PM PDT reply actions
Rondo's salary structure would work for these trades as well, he's on rookie contract still
by TrentEdwardsHoF2018 on Jul 1, 2009 10:07 PM PDT reply actions
Apparently the Celtics are looking to ship him
They’ll sign Starbury, Cassel and Moore, but they want to ship him, even after he posted monster numbers in the playoffs. Sounds like there might be something wrong here.
yes, but that something wrong is pure gold compared to "somethings wrong here, oh wait, its Steve Blake."
PS: they’re also not even close to dumping him for a bag of peanuts
