Ben Gordon and Charlie V going to Detroit

Linkage

So with the Bulls losing Ben Gordon does that take Kirk Hinrich off the table for a trade?  I really hope not, he was the one guy I was hoping we would add this year.  Maybe KP knew this was coming and that is why we have heard a lot more rumors about Andre Miller recently and not Captain Kirk.

What does this do for Detroit, were these signings good for them, or does it just muddy thier talent pool with a couple of ball hogs who don't play d?  Are they back to being a Finals contender?

IMHO this reeks of desperation a little bit.  Dumars saw everyone else in the East getting better so he reached out and grabbed the two most hyped FA he could find in hopes to keep up.  I think that both Ben and Charlie are capable scorers, but thats about it.  I sure hope Rip wasn't looking to shoot much next year ;)

Yep, Chicago was always going to keep at least one of Ben and Kirk

The best part about this for the blazers...

is that Detroit signing Charlie V, might make Tayshun Prince more available via trade.

I’d MUCH rather trade for Tayshun, then sign Hedo…given his defense and lack of need for as many shots as Hedo.

I just think Prince is much better fit than Hedo.

mmmmm

I definetly want the artist formerly known as Prince. Get it Done.

Big difference between a fanshot and a fanpost IMHO

The fanshots were just links to articles about the signings I ask several questions about the ramifications of the signings. They both have there place, one is informational, and one is trying to be insightful (whether this succeeded or not is certainly up for debate, hence the comment section ;) ) There is certainly room for both on a Basketabll blog.

Thanks for being the fanpost/fanshot police though.

That means no competition left for Turkoglu.

I hope we’re not bidding against ourselves.

So we can lowball the heck out of Turk.

THe Pistions

had to do something. They were thoroughly embarrased by the Cavs in the playoffs. I think this will help their team as long as CV stays healthy. How is Andre Miller an upgrade over Blake? I want Kirk, Harris or Paul. If you cant get one of those 3 leave it to Bayless and Blake

by BBG on Jul 1, 2009 8:09 PM PDT reply actions

Yeah I don't think

Andre is an upgrade either and i would stay far far away. I was just saying the the recent up tick in Andre rumors is probably because Kirk is off the table now, and KP has probably known this was going to go down for a while.

Speaking of the Pistons...

Lets start an AI to the Blazers rumor. I dont want it to happen at all. I just want something to take my mind off the common theme of the night.

I wouldn't say either guy is 'hyped'

If anything those guys get dogged on a lot as being one-dimensional. They are what they are. I didn’t see a whole lot of fans on any team clamoring for them.

I think both those contracts are bad, but the Gordon one is crazy. Someone is really going to pay him $11 million a year? What are the Pistons going to do with Stuckey and Rip? Didn’t they just fire Curry to make Hamilton happy?

by matthewcc on Jul 2, 2009 1:37 AM PDT reply actions

How would Stuckey do as a Blazer?

Detroit’s now has an extra guard. They might try to keep the pg, but there’s a chance we could pry Stuckey away.

by boppitywop on Jul 2, 2009 7:48 AM PDT reply actions

It will be interesting to see what Chicago does from here

I’ve always thought that their real decision wasn’t Kirk vs. Ben but was Kirk vs. Deng since a 1-2-3 of Rose, Kirk, and Deng would not have the firepower to beat anyone, especially with Noah as the starting C.
