Leon Powe
It appears that Boston will not extend a qualifing offer to Powe and he will become an UFA, I think the Blazers should take a chance on him and his knees. Sign him to a low cost/high reward deal let him rehab and come back next year. With his injury issues he could be signed for almost the league minimum is my guess, and that would be a great deal if he can comeback next year and be as productive as he was this year.

I love the idea
The only problem is that he’d be out this year (and have a cap) and, I think, the Blazers FO is really gun-shy about any player with knee problems.

ive heard out until Dec/Jan
could always throw him a minimum salary offer now, with a team option for year 2 and let him rehab for the first half of the season. if he makes it back mid-year, then we’ve got a valuable piece at a great price. If it doesn’t work out, all we’ve lost is a few hundred thousand and a roster spot, which we likely won’t need anyway
How did you guys win that?

True Dat
These are the kind of “flyers” we need to be taking. I would rather take a "flyer"on Powe at minimum contract, than Hedo at $10 mil

This would be a great move if...
we could get him back by Jan. 2010. I agree with Douglast…probably wouldn’t cost too much and it would give the team enough time to integrate him in advance of the playoffs. Classic buy-low opportunity and I’d personally love it if we could pull it off.

we have plenty of roster spots available to stash him on the bench
and will have even more spots if we trade Outlaw/Blake for a PG.
