Greatest era in Blazer History?
As was pointed out by da34shadow we are in the midst of a historic three years. We have literally gone from zero to "hero" in the minds of allmost all of blazer nation. Let me just say i suported these guys at there worst.....allmost, once it became ridiculous to the point of insanity i threw in the towel. The Z-bo's(my grandma is sick so i'll be at the strip club) the Ruben pattersons("im a kobe stopper", what a joke) so on and so forth. It became a joke to even tell people "yup, im a blazer fan." Nine times out of ten you would get laughed out of the room, even to this day when i say "how bout them blazers" the non regular fan says "you mean the jailblazers?"
This is significant for two reasons for me. One: even non regular fans knew and were ashamed of the exploits of the "jail blazers." I'm not sure whats tougher accomplishing that or winning a title, non regular fans would pay attention to either it seems. Truely sad. Two: Non regular fans have not been made aware of the changes and the truely quality people we have the privilidge of watching. Truely sad also.
I point these things out because i think they directly impact this era as being the best era(though at a VERY early age) in Blazer history. You have the 70s Walton, Lucas Blazers. The late 80s early 90s Drexler Blazers. The Late 90s ealry 00s Sabas, Pippen, Wallace team.(also known as the birth of the jail blazers) Finally the current late 00s early 10s blazers. Please understand that age wise we are infants compared to every other era i spoke of. But if we are young then we are Lebron freaking James, at our young age i believe we would give any of the other era teams a run for there money.
I FULLY understand this roster (im talking to you Roy,LMA,Oden, and Rudy) have tons to prove to be up there with any of there other are teams, especially the title team of the 70s. I do think that in basically three years we have proved more than any other era in the same three year stretch. I am too lazy to post a poll so just give your opinion and reasoning and we can debate the issue. My vote is the current are team, but thats my homerism.

I agree
VENTURA: It's drowning. It gives you the complete sensation that you are drowning. It is no good, because you -- I'll put it to you this way, you give me a waterboard, Dick Cheney and one hour, and I'll have him confess to the Sharon Tate murders.

That's right the current late 00's early 10's and in my opinion late 10's intimidating
This team could blow the other eras away. They have won 54 games in their infancy. We need to stand up and educate the non regular fan that a new era is upon us.
If the non regular fan says jail blazers we need to inform them those days are NO MORE.

'89-92
Don’t get me wrong, the ’77-78 era was great, but it was like a gas fire, it shot up quickly and died almost as quick. There was little time for anticipation. Then a great half-season where “we” ruled the NBA world and we thought it would always be that way, then the injuries came and the finger-pointed started and everybody got depressed and waited for Dr. Jack to work his majic, again. But it was never the same, until…
Late ’80s. You could see that young team coming on. First Drexler, then Porter, then Kersey developed. Then they added Buck and Duck and it was Rip City again. “We” almost made all the way back a couple of times. But that was an extended run with a bunch of likeable guys who took us on a great ride for more than 18 months.
The Whitsitt years were different. Even though Sabas was great, the feeling I got was that most of the players were mercenaries and not really connected to Portland. If they had won it all in 2000 perhaps this sentiment would be different. But that choke job against L*A followed by all the off-court issues was just as bad as the ’70 breakup, if not worse.
Here’s hoping Roy and company will take us on an even longer ride than ‘89-92 with more trophies than in ’77-78 and erase the memories of 2000-2004. They’re close, they just need to stay healthy and add a few more pieces

Pretty cut and dry for now
88-92 is top easily
77-78 is second
Hopefully this era surpassed both in a couple of years.

You may be correct
The Blazers are young, fun and are the antithesis of the early 2000 selfish Blazers. Portland is starting to convert that promise into production. Hopefully that conversion continues forward.

I also like the era of...
Uncle Cliffy, Strickland, Dudley. 93-97. That was the real birth of the jailblazers era. when we started bringing in guys like gary trent, dontonio wingfield and whitsitt systematically getting rid of all our legends (drexler, kersey, porter,)
98-01 was the height of the jailblazers era. It had the most arrests and the most wins. (rider, sheed, bonzi)
02-05 was the downfall of the jailblazers. (z-bo, miles)

Although Portland
is considered a cultural boom town and a “new city”, our effective unemployment rate is north of 15%. Most folks live in the burbs’ and the burbs’ are boring. It rains here all the time. THIS city needs THIS team at THIS time.
How great is it that any lonely Joe can wear a Blazer shirt on the street and have a whole city of new best friends? To anyone who’s yet to fully grasp what sports can do, try to live in this moment as much as you can. Most teams’ fans will never experience it…

1) 89-90 to 92-93. You could even throw in a couple years leading into this as the buildup period
2) 76-77 to 77-78. Like was said previously, came out of nowhere and faded just as fast
3) 98-99 to 00-01. Young team on the rise the first year looked liked genius moves by Whitsitt turning an old, burned out roster into a young promising one. Brought in key veterans i year two for the big push, just missed. couldn’t leave well enough alone in the summer of 2000, and killed team chemistry in year 3 by trying too many different things.
How did you guys win that?
"We scored enough points. We scored 107, they scored 105.
