Rudy = PG for the Blazers?

Stay connected for news and updates

Question:  Is anyone seriously discussing shifting Blake to a backup role and putting Rudy in as the starting PG?  It seems to me that he is quick, long, can handle the ball well, stretches the defense with this three and can be effective without the ball in his hand, so Brandon can handle the offense in the half court.  In short, he already seems to me to offer most of what Blake offers, only at a higher level.

To me, the question hinges on 1) whether he can learn to defend PGs in this league and 2) get into the paint consistently.  Now I recall watching him in Spain and in the Olympics and he seemed to create a lot more contact and drive more, so maybe that will come to him.  But can he defend PGs?  I just don't know.

I think Rudy will be something special and we have him here now.  I just think a backcourt of Rudy/Roy, Batum at SF and LA/Oden in the paint might work for us in the long run better than Conley Jr. or Hinrich.
