6/7 Trade Drawer / Trading Post

Posts about trades are starting to fill up the sidebar again.   Please post all of your trade ideas here.  Any fanpost or fanshot about a Blazer trade posted after this one will be deleted without comment.   Generally any trade discussions involving the Blazers should take place here,  however there are exceptions.  If  you have a trade idea which has not  been discussed on this site ad nauseum and is logical and would work under all the guidelines for trades (reread the main page stories, such as this one), makes sense for both teams and you can write it up in a well-reasoned, intelligent manner (think a scout writing to KP) then you may post it individually.  Too much trouble to do the research?  Then it probably does not deserve its own post.  We're not trying to discourage posts about trades, just trying to corral them all in one place.

I'd like to see a real world trade discussion.

Not fantasy league stuff.

What can you do with Sergio, Blake, 5 draft picks and 7 million in cap space? Maybe Outlaw. Leave everyone else alone.

Anyone can dream up unworkable scenarios, but what could we do with the chips that are realistically on the table?

by raoulduke on Jun 7, 2009 12:30 PM PDT reply actions

Realistically?

I Think what we have learned in the past week of interviews and injuries is If anyone gets traded it will be Sergio and Outlaw not Blake secondly I think the Blazers are probally going to go with there Exceptions Vs. capspace. so the question then becomes

1. What FA can the Blazers sign for 6 Mil
2. What Lopsided trade can the Blazers do with either Sergio or Outlaw and our draft picks.

Keep in mind that it seems the front office has complete faith in Bayless and Battum to eventually be the permanent starters so think minor tweaks not major changes.

To clarify

By Lopsided Trade I am implying using the 3 Mil trade exeption, Example: Trade 4 million dollar player get back 7 million dollar player

I think quite a lot

I outlined the Hinrich trade for Blake and picks before, the difference in salary would work with the assumed ca. $7 million in cap space.

It would work for Ramon Sessions if the Bucks don’t match, as described by Dave in detail a new contract would have to start at maximum the mid-level exception (ca. 5.5 – 6 million). Or we could get a backup from them for nothing, say Francisco Elson. They might also be willing to give up their #10 draft pick for Sergio and two of our picks and taking back a contract. Basically if they are confident that helps them to keep Sessions they will sell the pick, if they think they can’t they will keep it an draft a new point guard. The same could happen with the Knicks, though their price would likely be a bit steeper.

Combining all those assets might work for Conley, but that of course hinges on them taking Rubio.

Outright buying a pick with cash won’t land you much more than something from #25 or lower. Maybe the Wolves would be interested in exchange for second round picks, not forcing them to guarantee a salary. KP has said 2nd rounders are attractive this year thanks to that possibility. The Nuggets certainly would be if you take Hunter off their hands. Maybe a few other teams.

In terms of free agents, it’s probably at the border of what Andre Miller would want. It’s not enough for Turkoglu. And it’s enough for almost any “reasonable” backup PF as long as his previous team doesn’t match (Bass, McDyess, Wilcox, etc.).

Realistic Ideas;

Trade for Reggie Evans(Banger, good experience in that role with Nate) from Philly, possibly the 17th overall pick(Terrence Williams) if we somehow lost Rudy in a previous trade.

Offseason:
PG Options: Mike Conley(T)/Tyreke Evans(D)
SG Options: Terrence Williams(D)
Forward Options: Reggie Evans(T) - Taj Gibson(D), Damion James(D), Kevin Seraphin(D)

Depends on who and where

I did follow Indiana last year a bit more after Jack and McRoberts went there, but I still wouldn’t say I’m a fan. I’m a fan of Danny Granger, so that also contributed.

I´d be tempted to follow Rudy and Sergio if both go to NY.

I should move my fandomship to the East coast before I become chronically insomniac for being a Blazer fan.

I don´t like Memphis basketball plan.

Too many ball-hogs. They won´t change because of Ricky, I think.

by amlmart1 on Jun 7, 2009 1:13 PM PDT up reply actions

If I am Memphis

Hire Sergio Scariolo as Head Coach

1. Draft – Rubio
2.Trade for -Rudy
3.Sign – Turkoglu/Draft -Claver
4.Trade for -Pau Gasol/Sign – Birdman
5. Keep – Marc Gasol

Enjoy every Grizzlies games being broadcast throughout Spain.

Offseason:
PG Options: Mike Conley(T)/Tyreke Evans(D)
SG Options: Terrence Williams(D)
Forward Options: Reggie Evans(T) - Taj Gibson(D), Damion James(D), Kevin Seraphin(D)

If that is true that would be great news

Alot of rickys stregth is his team balling. If they are subbornly selfish then Ricky’s play will not look as good. Maybe his trade value goes down and we pick him up in a year or two, right before he explodes for us, I could see KP doing that.

I would follow Rudy

I would adopt that team as my second team, not as my first.
I still have ODen, Batum, Roy, and all the young talent to salivate about

I'll follow Memphis

I would follow Memphis B-ball if Rubio ends up playing there cuz I want to see what duo works out better together Rubio-Gasol or Conely-Oden

What is the fascination with Hinrich?

The dude is at this point average at best, I want a real upgrade at PG at this point. Blake is a good 2nd unit type of guy, just like Kurt neither is destined for greatness (or even goodness). Andre Miller, Bibby, Sessions would all be much better options in my mind. With one of those and a decent 10-15 min a game PF we’ll be talking ’about Ships.

by ebnerblazer on Jun 7, 2009 7:40 PM PDT reply actions

Defense

He is a better defender then Miller, Bibby & Sessions. If we can’t defend the PG, we won’t be talking about chapionships. We will be talking about what ships the blazers players are buying in the offseason.

Offseason:
PG Options: Mike Conley(T)/Tyreke Evans(D)
SG Options: Terrence Williams(D)
Forward Options: Reggie Evans(T) - Taj Gibson(D), Damion James(D), Kevin Seraphin(D)

by TheGreatDane17 on Jun 7, 2009 8:14 PM PDT up reply actions

Bibby is at least just like Blake as Hinrich, especially when looking at assist percentage and assisted shots percentage

He once could create for himself, not anymore. And defensively he is also nothing to write home about.

Miller is not good on defense either, especially against picks. He is a far worse shooter from outside than Blake and Hinrich. He would bring some interesting wrinkles like being able to post up smaller players regularly. Not sure that is worth what he will demand, but he might be an option if the Blazers are convinced Bayless is their guy in about two years. I would take him over an even more expensive Kidd or Nash (who is not a free agent so he would also cost other players).

Sessions and Conley are the two realistic alternatives to Hinrich I could see. Though the latest comments by KP looks more and more like we will stand pat with Blake starting and Bayless backing him up, and only Sergio on the move.

Yep...
Though the latest comments by KP looks more and more like we will stand pat with Blake starting and Bayless backing him up…

If that’s the case, this will be one painful offseason. The misuse of assets could come to an astonishing head if something doesn’t happen by the trade deadline this year.

Indeed.

Offseason:
PG Options: Mike Conley(T)/Tyreke Evans(D)
SG Options: Terrence Williams(D)
Forward Options: Reggie Evans(T) - Taj Gibson(D), Damion James(D), Kevin Seraphin(D)

by TheGreatDane17 on Jun 7, 2009 10:34 PM PDT up reply actions

Defense is one variable but...

Hinrich seems like a pretty decent defender however I think Bayless has an even higher ceiling on D from what I have seen. I am just not sure about his shot and love for sharng though, which is why I want a “good and experienced” PG to start next year.

My biggest issues with Hinrich are on the offensive end though. Last year he averaged just a tick over a 2-1 assist turnover ratio, has never averaged 7 assists, and shoots a pretty bad percentage of 41.6% overall FG for his career. I just think with all of the current players we have, the cap space, the draft picks coming out the kazoo we ought to be able to have at least a near All Star level PG manning the show. I want someone who can distribute and get to the hole, a good 3 ball shooter as well would be nice, but with Webster coming back I think we’ll fill that need organically.

by ebnerblazer on Jun 7, 2009 8:30 PM PDT reply actions

Don't bother using last years stats.

He was behind Rose & injured. Hopefully he could force Bayless to develop like Rose(Who I think benefited from Hinrich’s defense in practice & watching him use all his little veteran tricks).

Offseason:
PG Options: Mike Conley(T)/Tyreke Evans(D)
SG Options: Terrence Williams(D)
Forward Options: Reggie Evans(T) - Taj Gibson(D), Damion James(D), Kevin Seraphin(D)
