what are the rules on trade posts?
is there anywhere on BEdge that lays out rules or are there none? I ask because, as we saw last season, there end up being a ton of repeat posts that say basically the same thing or posts trying to rob teams of their superstar for our 3rd string PG. I'm not trying to call anyone out, and I don't want this place to be outright censored, but is there any sense/sensibility requirement for trade fanposts? I ask because I know the posts will build up as the draft nears and I feel like if I see another permutation to unrealistically land us LeBron Kobe and CP3 for Bayless, a bag of chips, and a re-signed LaFrentz, my heads going to explode.

Are you sure this should be a FanShot?
In all seriousness, there is probably a sensible answer to your question, and I expect that one of the moderators will give you the lowdown pretty soon now.

basically Dave has requested that trades be for the most part in the trade drawer, unless it is very out of the box thinking, and that the trade idea be reasonable for both teams.

Yup. No firm rules, rather guidelines
http://www.blazersedge.com/2009/5/21/882137/a-primer-for-trade-analysis
- “The most important thing to remember when considering trades is that it takes two to tango.”
- “You have to trade value in order to get value.”
- “A good rule of thumb for trades is this: Envision the situation being reversed and ask yourself if you’d be happy with your GM making that deal”
I would suggest that people contunue the trade and/or draft drawers every day or two in the sidebar to harbor such talk. Any simple suggestions or questions that fit under those categories should go in there. I would also suggest that more nuanced and researched trade and draft topics could still merit their own posts. I always cringe when people yell at other people for missing the designated drawers. I’ve had enough of folks getting super-snotty with each other supposedly in the name of site guidelines when in reality the site guidelines exists precisely to limit our super-snottiness with each other. So don’t do that.
I agree with you that “our junk for your starting star” trades that have a 1% chance of happening even with KP at the helm (so you say there is a chance? How about…) get somewhat repetitive and tiring especially for frequent visitors. And people are not always in the mood to make trade drawers, or they get overlooked/people are unfamiliar with them. And of course if you take the time to make a separate FanPost, you are at least somewhat convinced that you have a good idea worth presenting/discussing. Which isn’t always the case but shouldn’t be discouraged per se, the moderators should look into that and decide how to keep things in checks. That’s what we pay them for…err or something. And subjectively the frequency of whack ideas is still lower than before the deadline.

so basically all these trade for rondo trade for CP3 trade for kobe scrub-for-star scenario fanposts should be subject to deletion?
just asking because like that quote says it gets repetitive and tiring.
Please, for the love of all that is holy, please stop using the following: "Book it.", "FTW", "Epic" & "Fail".
...no seriously--stop.

Per Dave’s Site Conversation Rules:
All speculative trade discussion goes in the daily Trade Drawer Fanpost. Any speculative trade suggestion outside of the Trade Drawer will be deleted.

Of course, there's some leniency there.
But if it gets out of hand, something will probably happen.

I once took the tinfoil off of my head and discovered that
KP’s thoughts were coming in crystal clear. If I do that again and find out what he’s planning, that wouldn’t be considered speculative, right?

If you can read KP’s mind and can convince others this is true, then I don’t think anyone will complain about you filling the sidebar… Well, at least until other teams started using you to see what he was thinking, thereby ruining the Blazers forever. Then it wouldn’t be so hot.
The difference, I believe, is speculative trade posts, versus breaking news trade announcements. Which leads to the question, what happens to the news after it’s broken?

It's really strange. All I'm getting now is the word "Jerryd" repeated over and over.

ya gotta quote a friend who knows a source close to the team...
AND that SHOULD be the ONLY exception :)

I enjoy just ignoring all trade posts.
